It had been a long time coming, and Zuko had wrestled with himself countless times, for years now, if he should return to the home he had abandoned, reasons withstanding. Finally he was coming back, though. He could only hope his remaining family had disbanded, not that he could ever think of them as such with how they treated him. He sure didn't expect to find himself back here, not like this. Would he even be accepted? He had abandoned them during the migration, and to top it all off he had been burned and cursed. He'd never be able to get his full tattoos due to the anger he'd brought on himself in the wrath of the fire goddess. Would he be considered a disgrace?
Well... if there was one thing that he had learned in his travels, it was humility. He had been shown great kindness despite his threats and rough treatment of others, and even if he had to repeat that agonizing pain that had resulted in the scar disfiguring his face, he'd not change anything.
Still, looking over these lands that the pride now called home... would he even find any members of his own clan again?
"Looks like I'm not the only one to change around here..." He murmured, staring over the territory that was so much different than the ones he had grown up in.

Tawa'di had a bit of a skip in his step as he roamed around the pridal lands. Not for any real specific reason, that he could tell anyway, but it still felt good to not worry so much. Life in the pride was growing, more activity going on, and everyone seemed to be finally settling into their normal lives. Soon, soon the clans would begin to break away and go back to their wandering ways. Tawa'di was glad to see everything return to how he knew it, mostly, but another piece of him would miss it. They had been together as one large group for a while, and now they would be living independently again.
Time changed everything, whether you wanted it to or not. Tawa'di was fine with whatever happened.
His dusty paws slowed as he saw another on the horizon. He did not recognize his shape, and so he paused, waiting to see what action this stranger might take. Was he merely passing through, or looking for someone? He was still far enough away that his voice might not carry to the stranger, so he would pause for a moment, and see if he would take the initial step towards communication.

The other lion had stopped. Maybe he spotted him, well, of course he had! He only stood out like a sore thumb with this dark coat, in this lighting! Zuko shook his head just so, more at himself than anything else. Moving into a slow stride he approached the elder with caution and still some measure of confidence, even if he wasn't entirely sure about being here, being welcomed.
"Is this the new home of the Ela'wadiyi...?" He questioned, almost as if skeptical and awestruck or stupefied, all at once. It was the tone that Zuko carried when he was in doubt.

The old lion nodded his head slowly. So he knew of their lands, but lately that wasn't as such a surprise. It seemed that their lands were more known lately from passing visitors. While there was a slight concern, as Tawa'di did not want their previous land inhabitants to know where exactly they were, it was still not worth the conflict of questioning everyone that entered their lands.
"It is," he replied calmly, taking a step forward while offering a bow at the same time. Tawa'di wanted to acknowledge that he was welcome, and to feel at home.
Only then did he notice a small something. Tattoos? They seemed familiar, but the old lion did not want to assume anything. "May this old lion assist you with anything?"

((Arr. Forgive me for not checking in on this before. :/))
"Yes, well... maybe. I...."
For a moment Zuko was a bit lost, not literally of course, but unsure. He looked around the lands again before settling one good and one scarred and burned eye on the old lion again.
"My name is Zuko Amuliwa... I was originally born into the Shadow clan of the Ela'wadiyi. My mother passed away during the journey to the new lands and I..."
Left. Ran away. Couldn't deal with his father and his older sister's torments? All sounded sad and weak and pathetic in his own head.
"I've returned, if there's still a place for me here. I'd like to help if I can. This pride meant everything to my mother." He simply had things that he needed to sort out before he could have committed to it, and though he hadn't intended to return his journey had changed him. Now forever stuck like this, he wanted nothing but to live a humble life, especially compared to the life he'd made for himself out there on his own, if you could call it that.

Tawa'di's face grew grim for a moment as his mind wandered back to the time when their pride had faced through the toughest of challenges. There were moments where he didn't think their pride would survive. Looking into Zuko's eyes, he knew that it wasn't true, though. They did survive, and they will. Long past the old lion's life.
"It seems you've been through much," he said quietly, the edges of his face slowly softening. "As we all have. You just took longer to finish your path and return home."
His tail twitched once as he pulled his mind away from the pains of the past. Slowly, though. Anything too sudden would remind him all too well, and he didn't want to inadvertantly See into the past right now.
"This home is much different from our old lands; as well as the pride as a whole." He cleared his throat before continuing. "Do you want to return to the clan you once belonged to?"

Zuko, for the first time, felt eyes study him (how ever lightly or briefly) without feeling anger for it, a sign that he truly had grown in his journeys, even if only figuratively. Something that he saw when looking back suggested he was certainly not the only one still affected by the shadows of their grim past. For him, for all of them, this was as good as a fresh start, or as close to one as those that remembered would b able to find. For those that remembered... lost...
"Actually... I'd... I'd like a fresh start, with the Shadow clan."
He hoped he wouldn't need to explain further. He had been such a fool, such a close minded fool when he was with his birth clan-- Wolf --and he wanted to start anew too. The Shadow clan, it seemed like it would have a better fit for him.

Tawa'di studied him for a bit longer, only lightly glancing his scars. Something to remember his path back to home, perhaps. Nothing that Tawa'di would ask about. Private things were reserved only for those intimate to one, and he would never be offended lacking information. If it was something critical for him to know for the pride, his Sight might show him. Even then, he doubted it. Their was no air of tension around the young male, and he genuinely seemed to desire a soft homecoming.
"As a stand in leader, I agree to your request. You're a child of our blood, and you deserve to live here with us. As to the Shadow clan; as long as you gain approval, you will be blessed into their clan."
He cleared his throat for a moment before a small smile graced his face. "Just make sure to let them know you've spoken with me. It seems that my approval is just as important." His tail swished behind him as he contemplated it. He never really thought about it, but after the pride shrank so quickly he was needed to step in as head.

Zuko seemed to be waiting on invisible pins and needles, at least to those able to tell. Even after learning the hard lessons that he had and going through all that he did he was afraid that perhaps in the end he would be turned away for some fault he was not aware of. It was a momentus relief to hear those words from Tawa'di. He was welcomed.
With a grateful smile, however small, Zuko looked to the leader with gratitude, and respectfully nodded his head with a brief dip.
"Thank you. I will... In which direction can I find them...?"

Tawa'di nodded at Zuko's bow, feeling quite comfortable with the male. He seemed to be relaxing, moreso than when the old lion had first come across him. Pleased, it showed that while he still had a while to go, he had already overcome the hardest part; starting his new life.
"The last I heard," he said with a tap to the ground, drawing an oval shape on the ground, "they were going to the more northern part of the lands." He marked an 'x' where the northern area was. "And in relation to where we are," he said while marking an 'o' on the western border, "it shouldn't be more than a day's walk. If you're lucky, they'll be migrating in your direction."
With a small sigh, he had to warn the young lion. "I'm not completely sure, though my information is fairly reliable. Birds let me know roughly where the other clans are at certain times. It should still be fairly accurate. I think they have young ones, so they can't move as quickly."

The dark male looked in the direction that Tawa'di did, listening even though his eyes were focused there on the path he'd need to take to reach his destination. Glad to be one step closer to what would hopefully prove to be his new home, he sent Tawa'di another silently grateful look.
"Thank you. I'm sure that I'll find my way alright from here." And young ones would make the tracking easier, a larger group, more distinct scents-- it wold him what to look for where lack of familiarity with their scents personally would normally pose as a block.
He moved to head in that direction, sparing one more glance back to give Tawa a quiet nod of farewell, seeing that just as well to say goodbye for the time being as words that he could not comfortably find. It was time to find the Shadow Clan.
