Anybody ever notice how much owners of ions hate the spyder brand? it seems a little strange to me that there's so much controversy over one little marker.
can anybody shed some light on this?
now most people don't like kingman to begin with, but do any of you have hatred for it to the extent to become offensive over the matter?
the only way I see it is that the spyders shoot faster and cost less.
the ions are better built, low level entry guns that are much more accurate, but cost almost twice as much as a spyder with the same attributes.
so, with a 25bps ion and a vs2 with an accurate barrel, the ion is way better built and the vs2 is around 4x cheaper considering the cost of the barrel. of course this is being very basic.
they're about equal guns. why not a fight over tippmanns and egos or something unnessesary like that?
if you've never heard of this, just check out some youtube vids on spyders. I would quote what they say, but it'd break the guild's rules. most of the time there's a few posts that will say" just buy a ion!" of course with more cursing and what not.^^
overall, jsut thought this was a little weird and was wondering if i was missing something. any thoughts?

Generally anything about people hating markers is just shear ignorance for a lack of explanation. I used to think the same way back then but have gotten over my state of ignorance.
Also accuracy isn't defined purely on what type of marker it is. In reality no marker is more accurate then other, its all got to do with variables of the air that determines a markers acccuracy. Paint to bore match, reg recharge, paint size consistancy, and such are things that determine a marker's accuracy which doesn't revolve around the marker design itself.
In my book Kingman has always produced some pretty good quality stuff and I have to say about the same from Smart Parts from MY experiences. I like my Ion and my Spyder Sonix and both hold their own advantages over the other in my opinion.

... I refuse to rant. consider me a neutral party? I hate both of them. Spyders and Ions are both, in my opinion, low ends. Kingman, Brass Eagle, and Viewloader are the three main companies that contribute to paintball vandalism. That combined with the fact that Spyder markers are constantly bought for cheap prices and that a lot of new players get them peeves me. They'll go out, buy a Spyder, and then think they're the s**t.
Ion owners have the same tendency. They think their Ions are amazing and quite often, think that they themselves are great because they can shoot as fast as the the other tournament players. I also dislike the fact that Ions are so cheap. Smart Parts made a smart move but, when you have people who have played once go out and buy a tournament level marker, and you're still shooting a Tippman after a year of play, you get very peeved. Especially when you can run the local field with a Tippman and remain competitive against tournament teams using a semi-lowend mechanical marker.

Kingman, Brass Eagle, and Viewloader are the three main companies that contribute to paintball vandalism. that doesn't mean that the marker's not good. hypothetically, if they sold egos for close to nothing, they'd be the top marker used for vandalism. it's not that spyders are bad markers, they're just cheap. Quote: That combined with the fact that Spyder markers are constantly bought for cheap prices and that a lot of new players get them peeves me. They think their Ions are amazing and quite often, think that they themselves are great because they can shoot as fast as the the other tournament players. still, if they want to learn with an upped marker, let them. didn't you once say "it's not the marker , but the player" which I don't belive for this factor. a pro with a tac 5 and a rookie with a ego and tons of paint, who do you think will win? and it's not as important on how fast you shoot, it's how accurate your shots are and how effective your tactics are. and if you're playing in a tournament, there's always a bps limit so everyone going to be firing about the same.
