Qadir and Orpheus were out around twilight, parasols over their heads to keep out the excess of the sun that lingered through the clouds. The boy needed new shoes, most unfortunately. Qadir hadn't figured out how a boy that never left the house could possibly need new shoes, but need them he did, and get them they would. "I want ones with the gold buckles," Orpheus said with a huff, looking through the window of one shop with a wrinkle of his nose. These shoes were not nearly up to his standards!
"Silver would look better you know," Qadir would reply, plucking at one of his sleeves before peering out past the rim of his parasol to check on the still setting sun. "Red and silver are quite complementary if you ask me." Orpheus looked over at his father and shook his head, "Silver is of a lower standard then I require. Gold is what I want."
Qadir rolled his eyes, and as he did he'd catch sight of an interesting sign. Leaving Orpheus to window shop, Qadir moved to the door, looking through one of the windows curiously before pushing open the door and closing up his umbrella. "Hello?" he'd call out curiously, taking in the sights as he waited for someone to help him.

Cyralthein glanced up from his work bench, dark hair hanging in his eyes such that he blinked and had to tuck them away yet again before he could properly see. In his hands were jeweler's tools - eyeglass, tweezers, bright light and the rest. Separated into small piles were cut and polished stones of varying colours and sizes, some brighter in their sparkle then others despite being of the same cut.
Perhaps he'd been inspecting quality? If one asked, that would be the answer. The Shifter (currently looking very human) had really only been hired after an arduous test of his 'professed' skills - things the shop owner hadn't believed at first. However, having grown up in a culture that dealt with gems and trade and the like on a daily basis it was nothing new to him. Once he'd proven he wasn't some con artist, he'd settled into the job rather easily... it was just the customer service that took some adjusting to - he was social but didn't take kindly to being treated like a robot.
As it was, when Qadir poked his head into the shop he offered a smile and a small wave, "Is there something I can help you with?" With a quiet whoosh, he pushed his stool back and stood, leaning over the glass case he'd been sitting behind. "Welcome to Stardust!"
He added the latter a little belatedly, having forgotten yet again to greet a customer with that phrase first.

Qadir's smile grew wide at the greeting from the other, honestly taking no note to the way that greeting came afterwards. If he wasn't welcome in the shop that the man greeting him wouldn't have offered his help in services to anyone. Welcome indeed. "Actually I hadn't even been aware I'd be stepping into this shop tonight, so whether you could help me depends on how well you are at selling things," the man said with a laugh and a shrug of those broad shoulders before looking over his shoulder at the almost completely dark horizon. "To be quite honest with you, I was simply looking for a place to escape from the light for a while," he finished, turning his head back to the other with a wide smile.
A strange sentence if there was any, for clearly most if not all the light had filtered from the sunset. It wasn't as if he'd just escaped tanning out on the equator after all! "But since I'm here, what can you recommend to me? As a gift for a beautiful woman, not for myself, to be most clear in the matter." The gold brushed male wandered over to one of the displays and peered into it curiously before turning his attention back to Cyr. This lasted all a matter of seconds as Orpheus came in with a sour look on his face, stowing his parasol and leaning on it as if it were a cane.
"You know I don't like girly things," the boy said irritably, looking over at Cyr with a look of scrutiny. He wanted his new pair of shoes, and this shop was clearly not in the market for dolling out fancy footwear. "I'm glad you don't like girly things Orpheus, for I don't plan on buying you anything from here." Qadir replied calmly, as if his little hellion of a son was as pleasant as a daisy.

Cyr blinked at the odd comment, glancing past the other and out the door at the dark sky. "Escape the light....?" He murmured quietly before shrugging and offering another welcoming smile. To each their own, everybody had their secrets after all.
"Ah! A lady friend, hrm?" He wound his way over to where Qadir stood, looking that display over for a moment, "There's always the classic and stately precious gems, diamond, sapphire, ruby, and emerald - we've a large selection of unique settings here. Or, if you'd prefer a more customized approach, may I ask for a description of her? You see, each gem has a meaning and a history behind it and I find that when effort is made to match the piece to the owner, the result is so much more spectacular." It was carefully phrased so that it would not offend any sensibilities but Cyr really wished that this man would look for something more... special then the standard four stones people bought. It was sad when they made a beeline for those cases and ignored everything else around them despite the fact that a blue topaz might be sparkling so much more brightly then the diamond they were inspecting.
When Orpheus came in, Cyr laughed quietly at the quick exchange, amused by his customer's easy tone. "Jewelry is not just for a woman, sir. With the proper setting and attention to detail, anyone can benefit from one of our pieces." He bowed slightly, inclining his head to the boy before glancing back at Qadir.

Qadir straightened from his attention to the case, smiling and ignoring the male echoing his own strange words. No need to make himself sound any stranger by trying to explain odd things. "Oh no, I don't believe I could sir. No description of her could do her honor, for I have not the words to express her beauty. It would be an insult to attempt to paint her with words, the same that it would be an insult to depict her through a brush; both would pale in comparison but to her simple smile. Qadir smiled as he thought of Crystal, but he was quick to turn his attention back to Cyr.
"She has those," he murmured in reply to the short list Cyr had given him. In truth, the case he'd looked into had been chosen simply because it was closest to him and easiest to enjoy. What had be lying within had not been what he had in mind for Crystal. "It must be something special. The gem must stand out from what the other women wear, the same as she shines amongst all others."
Orpheus rolled his eyes as he was forced to stand around enjoying Qadir's never-ending drivel. Brows were lofted slightly as Cyr actually paid him attention and managed to address him most properly. There should be more men like him. "It may not be only for a women, but it is those women who coo like children with candy when gems are presented to them." Oh yes, Orpheus had a soft spot for gems and the like, for they were delightful marks of status, especially in numbers, but he wasn't interested in seeming prissy for liking them. "If I'm being forced to stay here though, show me something a man would like. I'm interested in seeing these proper settings and what attention to detail you may possess."

"Ahm...." Cyr tapped his chin in thought, "A gem among gems, hnn?" He had the perfect type of stone in mind buthe had yet to see such a thing here. Circling round, he drew the other's attention to a case with a variety of pristine moonstones, flourite, and the like all set in silver. There was an ethereal beauty to the pieces, fa'e-like if one chose to describe them as such. "There are these... moonstones are rare around here I'm told and with the elegant flourite accents they will frame her face beautifully. Or..." Here he gestured to another display, this one full of fire opal and amber, "If you would prefer to give some inkling of her inner fire, as I'm sure she possesses, there are these - Fire Opals and Amber. The former is also rare." Things were mostly in gold there, playing with the hotter colours of the gems. "Everything here is unique, so you needn't worry about copies being sold. If something needs to be adjusted, you have only to ask." With a slight bow, he let Qadir browse the initial selections.
Turning to Orpheus, he blinked, one brow arched high on his head. A true nobleman's son, this one. "If you'll excuse me... ser, I'll show your boy our more masculine wares and be right back. My name is Cyralthein should you need me sooner."
Gesturing for the boy to follow, he went towards the back of the store, where gold and silver and platinum glistened. Broader chains, flatter more stately rings, and robust timepieces winked in the display lights. "These are the more 'manly' things we have. As with all our jewlery if you do not see something to your liking, you can request a custom piece and I'll work out a quote for you." Biting his lip, Cyr stepped back with his hands clasped daintily before him.

The vampire was generally more impressed with the so-called fa'e stones set in silver, for Crystal's light gaze, dark hair and paler skin would have made fires and golds look simply silly upon her. She reminded him of the night sky, and so only the silver of the stars would suit her. "By all means sir Cyralthein, but if he gives you trouble just give him a kick in the pants," Qadir said with a laugh before turning his attention back to the case filled with shimmering items. But which would look best with Crystal? Should he even be buying her more jewels? He was certainly running out of new and interesting gifts for her.
Orpheus followed Cyr after giving his father a dirty look for the joke. Gloves were removed as the parasol was tucked under one arm and he certainly looked not so awkward with everything all wrapped up. Generally he was unimpressed with the display Cyr showed him. Time pieces and rings weren't exactly what he was looking for. "I'm looking for a hair piece. Gold. Not a clip mind you, but something that would hold a clump of hair." Thinking about someone beside himself for once? Possibly. And it was pretty obvious which of his 'numerous' friends Orpheus had that was currently being considered for a gift.
Despite his interest on Amahte's behalf, he also managed to think of another person that he might get a gift for. "What about for a stubborn girl, dark curls, dark eyes? Kinda reddish I suppose would look best with her. But not rubies. I've already given Kaoru rubies."

"Kaoru?" Cyr's expression became surprised, "A girl about your age... her mother's Crystal?" How curious. Wouldn't it be something if they were one and the same! Rubbing his hands together, Cyr glanced around. It wasn't often they got requests for hair baubles.... "We don't have any hair combs at the moment, I'm afraid. However, I can make you one if you'd like. Gold, of course." He smiled, noting the boy's interest in the metal.

Orpheus rolled his blood-stained gaze with an exasperated sigh. How many Kaorus could there be anyway? "Yes. Her and her mother Crystal. The woman that jabbering vampire wont shut up about, Orpheus replied with a wave of his hand in the direction of the area where they'd left the man. The irritated sigh had been on behalf of the man and his infatuation of the flower girl, and not about Cyr. By all means, he seemed more than accommodating for the boy. "No. A comb is not what I'm looking for." Reaching up, Orpheus clasped his fingers in a circle around one chunk of his hair. "Something that would fit around this. Small and circular. Or perhaps even something that could be woven into the hair and dripped down even further."

Cyr had never encountered a vampire before nor had he really ever heard the term so he just assumed it was some sort of slight like the ones they'd exchanged moments before. "Ah! Such wonderful people. Here...." He beckoned the boy toward where he'd been inspecting gems. It was a breach of protocol but Cyr had good reason. "There's nothing in the cases that you'd likely appreciate or find suitable. These are our free stones, see if there's a group of colours you'd like and I'll craft something for you. In the meantime, I must check on your father." With a bow he left Orpheus to gaze at the variety of gems all collected into individual baskets reminiscent of a dragon's hoard.
"Have you found anything to your liking?" He glanced around the other, too short to look over his shoulder without jumping and making a fool of himself. "I can take pieces from the cases if you wish to compare or feel them yourself."

Orpheus followed the man behind the counter without regard to whether he was allowed or not, not one to notice or care when it came to such things. Though he was slightly disgruntled that the man was no longer helping him with his original request, he was quite delighted to enjoy himself with the abundant, raw gems. Fingers plucked at a few before tossing them back into their respective pile. Boy didn't even bother noticing that Cyr had left him, but he wasn't likely to have cared in the first place.
Qadir looked up with a bit of a start at the man's voice, gold eyes given rapid blink before smile grew on his lips and revealed those little fangs Orpheus had given hint to. Not that Qadir ever hid it, or that he was trying to flaunt them, he simply treated them like all his other teeth...with caution of course. "I like the moonstone actually," he replied, motioning to the pale coloured stone that glittered with soft colours when the light hit it. The blue was beautiful, but they were not exactly what he was looking for. "I was thinking earrings might look good with these...they would nicely match the fairy dust hair piece I've given her before."

Cyr didn't think anything of the fangs, they were teeth, afterall. His people had them, Arcanos had them, and great many others possessed fangs. It wasn't particularly new to the Shifter. "The moonstone? Excellent choice, ser." Fishing a key out of his pocket, he unlocked the case and retrieved the indicated piece of jewelry. It was a pair of earrings as requested that would hang daintily upon the ears of Qadir's lady friend. Fashioned to look like twin moons with accompanying moonbeams wrought in silver, they were lovely.
"Sounds like a wonderful gift and a perfect match. It is said if you give your lover a moonstone necklace when the moon is full you will always have passion with each other." He added, smiling, "It's a powerful stone, offering protection on land as well as the sea. Perfect for that important someone."

Qadir smiled as he took the earrings from Cyr to inspect them closer, fingers rolling over the edges with care, clearly one used to handling delicate things and one with an eye that misses nothing. He'd fumble slightly at Cyr's words, looking up with a moment of confusion before laughing nervously. Cheeks would have flushed pink if the tone wasn't already so sun-soaked dark. "I'm...not so sure if I would call her my lover," Qadir said nervously, crooked smile upon his lips. No doubt the big-mouth child would have told Cyr which woman he was shopping for, but Qadir still preferred to remain vague in pinning his woman with a name. "But then, this is not a necklace, so perhaps there is another saying for moonstone earrings?" These earrings were definitely the pair he wished to give her. They matched not only her perfectly, but also the hairpiece he'd given her.
Not one to accept not being the center of attention for too long, Orpheus finally popped up to interrupt the conversation between the two of them, holding up two different stones. Blood garnet and black spinel. "I want something for her made out of these. What do you recommend sir?" The matches her and yet they were unique. Garnet did good to match the deep shades of blood, and though Qadir paled slightly just looking at the stone, the older vampire would hold his tongue politely for his son.

Cyr laughed, "I would think it applies to earrings as well. Th-" He glanced over as he was interrupted and his smile grew. With an apologetic nod to Qadir, the Shifter turned to the boy as what he had in his hands had caught Cyr's attention. "Spinel for protection and Garnet for friendship, hnn? A good combination. You've a good eye."
Rolling his shoulders, he held his hand out to Orpheus for the gems, "I'll take those then and make you something. On the other hand..." He turned back to Qadir, "Would you like to purchase them?"

Orpheus lofted his shoulders in a shrug at the meaning of the stones he'd picked out. He'd picked them for how they looked instead of for what they meant, though he couldn't complain at what they did mean. "Yes. Please make something with them. I would like them set in silver, but for what I'd like them to be I don't care. Something suitable for a young woman."
"And yes, I'll talk these as well," Qadir said, handing over the earrings as he stepped up beside his son, who instantly took a step away with a huff. "Were you able to find the gold hair clip you were looking for?" the man asked, playfully attempting to ruffle Orpheus' hair and failing miserably as the child side-stepped him like a little bolt of lightning. "No."
