Bored. Now that was the understatement of the century. Tora was beyond bored, way beyond. She was at the point of total and utter implosion from having absolutely nothing to do. For the Love of Andvari, why wasn't anyone awake at midnight? It's not that dark out - if you didn't consider the fact that there was no moon out tonight. But Fafners had no problems seeing in the dark. Unless you were mentally incapable, then there's always a problem.
Oops! Loose rock. Tora glanced over the side of the ledge which she had almost tumbled over because of inattention. Actually, that looked kind of fun, sliding dangerously down a steep slope to the sharp rocks below. Hm, now there's an idea. Maybe if she could convince Chippy to come up here...
Speaking of which, that lazy mate of hers wanted to "sleep in" because he was "tired." Which was male code for 'You're starting to really annoy me so I'm going to ignore you by pretending to be unconscious.' Ugh, males. Tora rolled her eyes as she continued to walk along the boundary of Hreidmar and Brynhild. Really, she'd walked soo far just to see him, and he couldn't even stay awake for a few hours to take a late night stroll with her. Piffy!
Eeps! Didn't see that tree there. Tora winced as she gently rubbed her nose with a paw. Now why on Andvari is there a tree growing on the cliffside? No wait, she didn't seem to be in the mountains anymore - looked more like the woodlands. How in the world did she manage to walk back the way she'd come? No, actually, her surroundings didn't look very familiar either.
Oh, looks like she's lost. So of course, Tora did the logical thing that any other female in her position would: blame that stupid lifemate of hers for getting her into this mess. And she screamed. Loudly.

The ever-handsome form of the ever-proud fafner, Cerberus, was doing what any proud and strikingly awesome fafner was bred to do: sleep! The world was just too dull for such a fafner to remain conscious for prolonged periods of time. It might be detrimental to his mental health, which he prides himself in. Not many fafners could pronounce things backwards at the speed he could. Rrrreenb… rrreennnffaiiii…. Rrennfaaaaaaf… RENFAF! Point made.
On this splendid day with crickets driving him half to insanity, he was dozing lazily on a cold rock in the middle of… where ever he was. Nightdreams chasing after mice and other creatures that have no immediate names kept him lulled in his doze. That was until –AGHEOIHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh—the most hideous sound punched him in the ears and caused him to launch himself up, trip over the rock he slept on, and tumble down into the pit of death—or it had seemed like death with his precious ears practically throbbing and bleeding.
He had been stalking a butterfly for a period time causing him to end up half way across the dang island. That forsaken creature had not rested for the past 10 hours or so. In the end, he was defeated by the flighty creature.
Anywho, back to Cerberus (currently in his pit of death), the male fafner managed to crawl back to the terrifying reality that held the vicious creature who made the terrible sound. No, he was not afraid! Sneaking within the safety of the darkness (which shouldn’t be all that safe if you think about it), he managed to find his way towards whatever evil lurks beyond the thick trees of the forest. However, as the seconds drew by, his pace quickened until he was in a mad run. No, he was not afraid at all!
Forest, tree, skeletons, leaves, and everything blurred past him as he ran. He turned his head back slightly as though to catch a glimpse of the terror he was running from. Then-BAM-he hit something solid and flipped over the object. Scowling at the offending thing in his way, a growl fled from his barred teeth. Whoever it was better watch out!
Then a pink color flicked across his vision. He looked to the right… oh, Tora! Looking back, he realized he was growling at a rock.

No doubt that ear-piercing screech that had erupted from her mouth would have scared off anyone who was still lurking this late at night. Or perhaps a few Sentinels would come running to defend their clan, and she would have the unfortunate luck to be caught in an accidental attack. Now that was not an experience Tora wanted to repeat - the memory of the last time that she got dragged into one of Cerberus' "fun" activities was still fresh in her mind. She was young then, and gullible, but she knew better than to believe anything Cerberus said now.
Speak of the devil, Tora watched as Cerberus came crashing into her view. Literally. Now she had been expecting someone more, well, strong... you know, like a Sentinel. Not her half-brother, who looked like he was trying to run away from something. Perhaps her scream earlier had frightened? No, that didn't make sense, because he was running towards the noise. Surely he hadn't been planning to act as a knight in shining armor and rescue a damsel in distress? Cerberus was so not that brave. For Andvare's sake, he was growling at a rock!
"You're awfully far from home, Cerberus... almost halfway across the Isle, in fact." Tora paused as she thought over her words. Huh, he was quite far from home. Then she smirked. "Aw, did you come to visit your dear little sister? How sweet!" She reached a paw forward and ruffled his hair playfully.
Pulling back and readjusting her ribbon, Tora sat down and glanced at the other fafner. It was a little known fact that Stelmaria often tricked Cerberus into doing the most atrocious things, and Tora wouldn't put it past her cousin to have sent Cerberus to the other side of the Isle to look for some new Mini that probably didn't exist. After all, it's been the new craze to catch a glimpse of this Faerin ever since Stelmaria announced their existence. Creatures that disappeared in a blink? As if!
"You're not hunting for Faerins again, are you? Maybe you should try looking in Niveus," Tora suggested sarcastically. She vaguely wondered if Cerberus had ever tried to cross the Deadlands just to see what was there... what was there? She'd have to ask one of the Craftmakers some day. Or maybe she'd have to convince Cerberus to go if he hadn't already. Then if he survived, he could give her all the dirty details! And if he didn't... well, a necessary sacrifice.
