The Mermaids tavern is one of the most well known for its history or crime, double crossings, bar fights, and suspicious characters. During the years of the elementals “disappearance” the tavern was burnt to the ground. But it was soon rebuilt as soon as the angry Elementals undid everything that had been meant to erase their place in history. There are 10 rooms on the top floor. Each furnished with a wash basin that never ran out of water, a nightstand made from cherry tree rug, one rug that covered almost the full length of the floor with its Arabian styled patterns, curtains of wool for if you were lucky enough to acquire one of the few rooms with them, and a queen sized canopy bed with satin sheets. Each room having enough room for anyone to be comfortable, and such big rooms for such an honest price… Down stairs the building is separated into three parts. The back or better known as the kitchen; is towards the rear of the building, and takes up a third of the building. The second area is the counter. Whether you’re sitting at it, or working behind it, it takes up approximately only 20ft of the buildings length, and 10ft of the buildings width. And last section, where most go takes up almost the last two thirds of the building, all but the area dedicated to the counter. Over 20 tables are randomly dispersed, each with 6 chairs. And near the entrance to the building lies the stage, not much of a stage since it’s made out of beer crates, but anyone looking for a laugh only has to glance upon the pile at the man or wench who’s being rained on by rotten vegetables that the cooks so generously donate.

Cairo was sitting at a table. Alone, the table looked huge. The other 5 chairs empty. He had two glasses on his table, one was almost full, the other empty. He picked up one glass, swirled the contents, then set it back down. He only came here when he was bored, and hoped to fight.

Jamie strode into the dimly lit pub. Eyes turned upon the newcomer just as so many had in the past. It was nothing different. A new town, new faces, all to be another memory soon enough. She made her way off towards a table in the corner. Another place to rest and think, alone, she hoped.

Dusk approuched the girl and cocked her head to the side like a wolf. "Anything I can get you?" She spoke with a foreign accent that made her voice sound melodious, and yet darker. She smiled as she cleaned a glass with an old piece of cloth from her apron. "Special's rum today miss."

She looked up, unsure as to what this new person was really up too. She could tell by the clothes she wore that she was just a waitress but there was something about her that almost struck a nerve. It was as if she was there on orders of some other cohorts not to do her job. But Jamie realized she could be wrong. She had misjudged people before and it had gotten her into trouble at times. 'that's fine. thank you' she said with a slight grin picking up her head letting the hair slide away from the icy blue eyes. They looked at the waitress cooly they seemed uncaring yet kind but beneath the surface several things raced through her mind. So much for alone.

Dusk bowed her head slightly and made her way back behind the counter strange girl, strange times. Elementalists returning when they were once destroyed. Confussing times. She sniffed the air, her eyes glowing slightly from the candles that lit every table and the light from outside. They held an almost animal sort of glow. She reached for a mug and poured the rum. Another customer waved at her and she waved back to signal she'd be right there. She rushed back towards the girl "Here ya are."

"Thanks" she said without looking up. She knew the waitress would be headed off to another table soon. Not many people would stay by her for long. She was too different, too strange. Curious was what many would say. She was only 'curious' because there was so much she wouldnt say. So many secrets that she dared not reveal to a single soul. Her thoughts quickly drifted away towards those secrets and the few happy times she could find in them.

Colm walked into the tavern, a place he was rarely used to going. Almost immediately he walked over and sat at the bar; trying to decide what to order. The vampire held his hand underneath the tavern as a fairly large dagger appeared in it. Damn mystery... He was aiming for a smaller one that could fit in his sheath but whatever. The dagger disappeared in the same black smoke it appeared in. "Um, Miss? What's the special?" the vampire asked.

Cairo looked around, two random people joined his table, but on the opposite side from him, as far as they could get. He knew he was different, afterall, no one else could put out the candle at the table, and relight it without touching the candle itself. He's been doing it all night, for fun, to see if anyone notices it, but everyone is too drunk to notice it. I should just spit my alchohol all over and burn the faces off of the two on the otherside of the table... but that would be too much... It still sounded good to him... but it was too dangerous. He didn't know if there was another elemental here, and if so, how would he tell? Not alot of people are elementals, and they are still feared. He shrugged his shoulders, "Let bygones be bygones..." With that he drank the rest of content in one of the glasses.

Dusk dashed over to Colm and gave a lop-sided grin. "Depends on who you ask. The cooks? They like to sneak things in. So they'd tell you something along the lines of...chicken 'surprise'. However..." she cracked her neck quickly and painlessly and she tried to adjust her spin and such before her form could become too unbearable "...I'd suggest the stew. It just got done like about ten minutes ago." She placed a hand on her hip as she waited for an answer and analyzed everyone else in the pub. There was another few people she hadn't spoken to yet. One of them caught her eye, making her wince with the memories that did not belong to her. It was a different boy, yes. But why did he trigger them? How irratating.

Cairo messed up, he put the flame out with a wave of his hand as Dusk looked in that direction. He quickly pointed, started the candle's flame again, and picked up his other glass. "Um...miss." He paused, "Can I get another?" He did it really fast as to hoping no one else saw him.

Dusk frowned inwardly. She'd seen what he'd been doing, why did he bother hiding it? Maybe it's just because of my stupid hypersensitive senses she moaned inwardly as she nodded her head. "Gimme a sec though alright?" She let out a feint smile. Tonight was actually busy. It was a nice change.

Cairo felt compromised. He could feel that she knew about what he was doing, but that didn't change a thing. If she saw, others might of. He just crossed his arms, and sat there, hoping to get the attention, if any, of other people off of him.
