___After her odd though interesting experiences with several of the Cirque members, Hazina craved some stability. Someone she could sit down and have a real chat with, well, provided the language barrier wasn't too much. Paris by daytime was historic, and riddled with secrets of scandals past, either from its defeated monarchy or the everyday masses. It's always exciting to go somewhere you've been before, especially if it's been awhile. Almost like coming home. The young Masai woman was still wearing her new favourite outfit, a fluffy white shirt tucked into high-waisted breeches. She felt quite distinguished and even a little masculine, it was fun. Recalling an earlier event in a failure to seduce a fellow Cirque member, Hazina shook her head. Women, never ever are predictable, even if you are one. They're far too chaotic to do anything with, really. She knew deep down inside one day she'd have to settle for a man, but until then he figured she was free to bed anyone she wished. Easier said than done.

___After strolling the old cobbled streets of Montmartre, sidestepping through alleyways and grinning throughout the aromas of a local farmer's market, she found herself back at the steps of the Basilica. She felt the hairs on the back of her neck rise unpleasantly, God how she hated this place. Not the cathedral, but the evil demonic steps. They reeked of the spent sweat of patrons struggling to reach the summit. Dare she make the same pledge? No, she thought, no thank you! Sidestepping it she trotted up the easier steps which circled around, until she reached the top with unwinded satisfaction. She beat those silly clever architects. If you want to force people to do something, you should know better than to build a back door! Laughing quietly at her personal and foolish triumph, Hazina went behind the silent dome and back to the Moulin Rouge. Perhaps she would run into someone of equal interest.

Equal interest, perhaps, but definitely a bit of stability. Aemilia and Hazina had, of course, met before and gotten to know one another a tad since being assigned a trailer together. True, given their occupation, their paths didn't cross often enough for them to become the best of friends just yet, but that didn't mean things couldn't change. The two of them were diligent workers, it was understandable that they would be 'out of the house', as it were, so often. Nevertheless, even the worker bees have to take a day off now and again and Aemilia was doing just that. Sort of.

She had just taken leave of a group of Moulin Rouge women who were helping her with her performance by way of costume suggestions and act critiques. Completely focused on her own thoughts, Aemi was simply wandering the area of France closest to the club for a bit of fresh air. Fortunately, however, she was aware enough of her surroundings not to completely run over Hazina. Or, rather, run into her as the woman was quite a bit taller than her.

"Excusez-moi!" Aemilia may not be completely fluent in French, but she knew enough to be polite. Even if her accent was horrible. When her mix-matched eyes looked up and recognised Hazina, she gave a little laugh of relief, "Oh, 'azina. 'ullo! S'ry 'bout that. Wasn' payin' any attention."

___Hazina's eyes lit up as she laughed and brushed off the intrusion. Grasping Aemilia firmly by the arms she helped the young girl right herself. It had been a very long time since she'd socialized freely with the first person she'd ever met at Cirque. Hazina preferred to sleep outside the trailer hanging above the steps in a hammock after all. This girl had the same funny accent as Charlot, but she had an easier time understanding it. Her attempt at French was just as adorable as some of the other people she'd watched over the years. Clapping Aemilia on the back she inquired earnestly about her thoughts on the Moulin Rouge.
___"You are having good time?" Hazina asked gleefully. She was having a fantastic time, personally. Beautiful girls, horny young men. It was quite amazing how at-home she felt currently. As memory served her correctly, Paris was the one place she could be as free as she wanted to be without being afraid of persecution. Why had she not fled from India so long ago? Then again, she had left Paris for a reason.

___"Where are pretty clothes?" The Masai asked teasingly, recalling the scarlet number Lucrezia had been sewing. Of course she didn't expect Aemilia to prance around in such revealing clothes, but she also knew this young girl wouldn't look half bad in them. Having a libido was dangerous amounts of fun.

This was definitely a much better Hazina to meet. Aemilia appreciated the girl no longer believing her to be afflicted with the plague or pregnancy or who knew what else. Hazina appeared to be more at ease in this world, comfortable with herself and if asked, Aemi would have agreed that she did look quite dashing in her little get up. The pirate shirt was a funny thing to keep from the previous world, but Aemi had admittedly gotten a few souvenirs herself that she kept in a trunk in the trailer.

Aemilia, honestly, was quite at ease here as well. The people here found her niavity to be endearing and were doing their damndest to mold them into their own design. She was learning a different kind of freedom, and feelings she never thought she herself had. She was gaining confidence in herself as a woman, and learning more things about sexuality that she had ever dreamed of as experiment 729. "I am, ac'shully. Ever'one's amazin' and kind here. 'ow 'bout yehself?"

She gave a chuckle at the mention of pretty clothes, knowing to what Hazina was referring. With a bit of a shrug, she smiled sheepishly, "I'm workin' on it. Th'gehls at the Moulin Rogue like dressin' m'up, that's where I'm comin' from." She reached out to tug on one of Hazina's sleeves companionably, "I like this. Yeh get tha' from the Cari'bean?"

___"Mmmm." Hazina preened as she nodded. "I like. Loose, light. Like I feel inside." She brought her arm to herself briefly before dropping it back behind her back. Though she was resisting thinking about being an object on display tonight, the idea of wearing burlesque was slowly growing on her. It could be interesting, looking pretty. Makeup would be a hazardous experience of course, but truly what choice did she have. Even Hazina abhorred the thought of going out on the Moulin Rouge stage in plainface. Aemilia was looking much more comfortable in her own skin, which sent a pleased expression over Hazina's face. They had arrived at the Cirque on almost the same day, had a shaky beginning but it was still successful. Hazina chalked it up to a victory in her big book of introductions. Assuming Aemilia was on her way to explore the neighboring community, Hazina took up a position on her right side and strolled lazily.

___"Have met many people you like?" The Masai asked, this girl was quite sociable, and probably had succeeded in befriending several people. In that way, perhaps Hazina envied her ease.

"Yeh fe'l loose?" She chuckled at that. First a soft sound that grew a bit more earnest when she thought about it a bit further. It wasn't that long a laugh, but humorous nevertheless. Raising a hand to touch her chin, she thought a moment before nodding briefly while shrugging, "Agreed. I s'pose I fe'l loose 'nd light as well."

At the question, Aemilia pulled a face. Certainly she had met plenty of people, but she didn't particularly know any of their names. And besides, what was the point when they wouldn't be returning to this world again, as they had all figured. Certainly, the Cirque went where it pleased, but they had yet to visit a world twice and even if they did go in rotation, they would visit her world before this one. It was a safe bet that if they returned to her world, she would likely be taken back. Still, that wasn't a very bright answer, "Aye, I 'ave. Plenty of gehls at the Moulin Rouge and a few artists on th'streets. N'one t'well, though. 'ow 'bout yehself?"

___Hazina tilted her head to either side lightly. Here nor there, really. She found the absolute sexuality of this place fantastic, and also had discovered the warmth of the daytime populous comforting. Things were not as clean around here as she would have liked, but then again where she had lived for so many years didn't exactly scream of being housekept. Streets were always dirty, but they were alive to say the least. Alive, booming, an adventure, if not for your life.
___"Lots of very pretty girls." She grinned at Aemilia. There was no shame in hiding her orientation, honestly. "And very pretty boys ..." Hazina paused her sentence as her eyes followed a local lad. Resuming attention on her companion, she frowned and sighed a little.
___"Need more men, for Cirque." Hazina couldn't believe she had met almost all those of the opposite sex already, so few and so many women. Technically only one was available, and he sometimes left a sour taste in her mouth.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 26, 2008 1:07 pm

The dirt and grime of the place was a welcome change to Aemilia. Her only memories being of white washed walls, blinding lights and the smell of alcohol, she had yet to have her fill of mud, muck and dust. She appreciated cleansliness, surely, but this was definitely a welcome change of scenery. Her mix-matched eyes roamed to take in their surroundings briefly as she and Hazina walked, her own eyes falling upon the passing young man as her companion spoke.

Giggling softly, she looked him over once more before turning her attention back to Hazina. She was unused to this entire business, this abundunt sexuality everyplace and within herself, even. She had never considered herself a sexual being because she had never truly known was sexuality was. This place was a whirlwind of it, though, and there was no escaping the knowledge here. Thus, subtly checking out the fare of the day was not something that came easily to her. She would learn soon enough.

Frowning in thought, she nodded slowly to the other woman's statement, "We're agreed once 'gain. Simply not enough t'go 'round. Perhaps more'll be 'ad soon 'nough?"

___The Masai woman snorted, laughing quietly. The idea of more men coming to the Cirque was far and few between. It seemed that more women flocked here than anything, most with troubled or issued past. Actually, everyone here had something to run or hide from, or simply escape. Why were the women so drawn to the mysticism of the Cirque? Hazina found herself wishing that they would travel to a time where men are doing all the running. The amusement of that last thought caught Hazina, men run from everything! Who would have guessed the gender she resented would become a precious commodity. She nodded to Aemilia,
___"Need far more." Hazina could deal with being with women for awhile, but eventually there was a limit. Sometimes she just craved a man, of course only if it was on her say-so. There was just something about men ... Their power, scent, even the gentle moments where they aren't domineering tyrants. The young woman found herself wistfully thinking of lovers since past, particularly one man who had weaseled his way into her heart.

___"Need good men." She added, this was an important detail not to be left out. "Good, good." Hazina flashed a smile at a young lady holding a bouquet of flowers as they passed, earning a flushed giggle. Just as quickly as that smile had crossed her face she gentled her into a demure look with a wicked twinkle in her eye, rewarded with an interested gaze from the young man the girl was with. Two-in-one, today's current best.
___"You like flower?" Zina motioned to a passing cart, wondering if Aemilia would like one.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 26, 2008 5:53 pm

Aemilia was most definitely escaping a troubled past, though she hadn't sought out the Cirque as a mystical vacation. On the contrary, she'd happened upon it by accident and fate provided her with an escape when men meant to capture her had been hot on her heels. Coincidences were funny like that, if you believed in such things. Aemilia didn't know where she rested on the matter, but she knew she was damn glad the Cirque audition had been where and when it had or she very well might be in a drug stupor and numbered once again. Instead, she found herself wandering the streets of Moulin Rouge sometime in the past - in a different universe than her own, likely as not. Funny how things go.

As for the preference between men and women, Aemi found she leant decidedly more towards the opposite sex, but that didn't meant she wouldn't flirt with both genders. Besides, it was all in good fun and what better place than Paris to do so? She watched the exchange between Hazina and the two native Parisians, hiding a smile behind a hand at their expressions when suddenly Hazina was asking her a question. Turning to her companion, her brows arched before she followed the gesture to view the flowers passing by. "Oh!" Taking in the variety of colours, she smiled, "They are pretty." She bit her lower lip, unable to bring herself to ask so instead she answered what Hazina had asked, whether she'd meant to grammatically or not. Sometimes language barriers worked in one's favor like that.

___Gently depositing a few francs into the waiting hand of the cartgirl, Hazina delicately picked two roses and handed them to Aemilia with a pleased flourish. One red, and one white. The red one would have been black but she was pretty sure they didn't sell roses in that colour. Hazina was truly enjoying herself, good conversation, spoiling a friend, an excellent day. She couldn't stop praising it, it just seemed so perfect, everything was in place and everything was going so well.
___"Let me show." Hazina grinned happily, guiding Aemilia back towards the Basilica and into the wide courtyard. It was her favourite part of the hill, overlooking vast areas of Paris, and the apex of the street artists and cafes. It was fantastic fun being able to truly enjoy herself in Paris for once, without being in a bed ... or in a dressing room. This was absolute bliss.

___"Hungry? Thirsty?" She questioned, worried about dragging her friend too far with too little nourishment. If she was, it was absolutely no problem. Hazina had lucked out when she'd discovered she still had some francs from her last migration through France. The sun was high, and warming everything, and out of the corner of her eye she saw a tree which had once been a tiny struggling sapling so many years ago.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 10, 2008 6:17 pm

Immensely pleased at the roses that were passed to her, Aemilia buried her nose in each of them as she held the stems between thorns. It was instinct as soon as she had seen the barbed sticklers, but she could only guess what it would feel like to touch one. She wasn't really in the mood to try and besides, she was far to preoccupied with the presence of her friend who was quite obviously enjoying herself. Tucking the white curl behind her ear, she smiled, "Thank y', 'azina. Don' believe 'nyone's evah bought m'flowers." Not within memory, afterall, which was pretty much never.

She followed Hazina effortlessly, having no idea where they were headed otherwise. Her mix-matched gaze took in the people inbetween distracted periods of entrancement at the surrounding architecture. There was so much to take in walking around this bustling city. It was so different from her own time that she had no idea what a majority of things were but she simply soaked it all in. At the sudden questioning, she shook her head, "Oh, no. But thank y'gain." She had noted Hazina's obvious ease in the city, "'ave y'been 'ere behfore?"

___Hazina nodded casually, letting a heavy warm nostalgia fall on her eyes. This was the self-proclaimed City of Romance, and purveyor of the great arts. It was positively enchanting whenever she was within the vast spiderweb of stone buildings and cobbled streets. She hummed to herself quietly for a moment, taking in each passing scene.
___"Yes." She confirmed orally with her previous nod. "Many time." Being caught up in such memory was impairing her English. As they reached the Basilica, and the top of the staircase leading into the cathedral, Hazina caught her breath. No matter how many times she had seen it before, the sight was always breathtaking.

___The sun setting over the Seine, the Eiffel Tower glittering in the distance, and the powerful Arc de Triomphe standing guard. People moved silently or noisily through streets, daytime was packing up and nightlife was moving in. Overwhelmed by the romanticism of it all, Hazina turned quickly to Aemilia and looked at her deeply. A whoop of glee echoing down an alleyway snapped her out of it, and Hazina quickly turned back to the view, thoroughly embarrassed. Rubbing her face with her hand she rolled her eyes upward, flushing with quiet indignity. Her friend wasn't bad looking, of course, but several things are irreversible and more often than not, damaging. It was all too much, and it disappointed Hazina that she had almost thrown it all away.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 10, 2008 7:12 pm

Aemilia was not immune to the effects of the city, though she had no idea how to act on those feelings much less what could be affected were she to act on them. Having no memory of any particular upbringing, she was completely open to all possibilities so seeing Hazina in a romantic light seemed natural enough. She wouldn't necessarily pursue her, per say, but she saw her friend as she was; an attractive and charming woman in a romantic city. To top it off, the two were alone overlooking a strangely serene and beautiful, bustling cityscape.

Nevertheless, she was confused by Hazina's deep gaze even if she didn't appear to be so. In truth, she appeared hazy, as if she were somewhere between dreams and wakefulness. At the sudden sound, her eyes widened and she looked about wildly as if she had expected someone to be attacking them. Seeing no one, she chuckled and snapped one of the roses close to the bud so that it could settle behind one ear without scraping her shoulder. Tucking the red flower in her hair, she smiled at her caramel hued friend, "S'pose we should 'ead back, dunchya? We oughta ge' back behfore dahrk."

___The young woman nodded fiercely, she needed to clear her head, maybe have a few drinks. She could admit to herself that she indeed liked Aemilia, but whether or not she was willing to jeopardize that for the sake of a moment, Hazina was positive she wasn't. Emotions are hard to battle, but it is possible, for the sake of a friendship. Quietly to herself, Hazina began to chastise.
___"Yes, is getting close performance." The young woman pulled on her collar as she struggled with each word. The evening was getting humid. They both needed to prepare for their big night, Aemilia and Hazina were each having their very first performances. They needed all the practice they could get in.

___"This way." Hazina mumbled, almost shyly, guiding her friend back towards the Red Windmill. It was going to be a long, long night.
