[ ] More and more colored instruments are starting to show up in music stores. The black trumpet looked pretty sweet, but I hear that the colored instruments don't always sound as good as their normal counterparts. [ ]

Heh, that's just a generalization, assuming colored instruments are a cheaper version or just because they're not traditional. How would coloring mess up sound? If you took an instrument you have now and color it, it should be the same, as long as it isn't damaged.

[ ] That's why I said that they don't always sound as good instead of saying that they never sound as good. Some of them are indeed poorer quality. It just takes a lot of research and knowing what exactly you're buying.
Since my expertise tend to lay with brass instruments (Trumpet and French horn), I'll say that it can't be guaranteed that the same type of metal is used that would've been used if the instrument was a traditional color. That would definitely affect the sound in some way or another. Also, very few (If any at all) professional horns come in "exotic" colors, so that could be saying something. I don't know, this is just what I've collected from other sources. [ ]

Well, if you buy a white grand piano, a black one of the same kind is just as good. I also have a normal violin, which is fine, but it doesn't sound much better than my blue one. There are instruments that are normal and poor quality. That's how I look at it. It's a good idea to play the instrument before you buy it though, so you know what you're getting.
The color in this picture is better.

That's beautiful! Congratulations! whee
I read that many musicians prefer to have custom-made instruments. 3nodding

[ ] @veggie tales.: But those are two common colors for grand pianos. White isn't a novelty color. Then again, I've never heard of a crappy quality grand piano.
I'm still in love with that blue color though. 3nodding [ ]

T i f a @veggie tales.: But those are two common colors for grand pianos. White isn't a novelty color. Then again, I've never heard of a crappy quality grand piano. I know, I was just using it as an example as to show that the color difference doesn't matter. ... and a grand piano could be poor quality. You should always play a piano before you buy it.

[ ] In most cases, you should play an instrument before you buy it, especially if it isn't a professional level instrument. [ ]

If a seller won't let me test an instrument before buying, then I won't buy. xd
