The small wind mare stood on the top of a rather tall hill, the spring breeze managed to lift her braids up just enough that she didn’t start to feel overheated. Her mind was wandering away from her today, and Lena couldn’t help but feel just a bit behind in everything. Growing up she’d been small and day-dreamy.. Preferring to play by herself with the people in her mind with others. Nothing wrong with that, except that she was still doing it.
Today had been a perfect example of her stupidity.
Flying was a new thrill, something that had come with adulthood and that Lena enjoyed with all of her heart. Rushing of air and the total freedom it provided her couldn’t be beat. Too bad her imagination worked in overtime with the extra senses added by flying. Her front right leg was lifted pitifully and a trickle of dark blood flowed sluggishly. A few hours ago she hadn’t been paying attention and managed to come down to land, managing to drag her leg through a thick bramble bush. It hadn’t been hidden.. She just hadn’t paid attention. Reflexes kicked in before her hind leg could take a beating and she had kept flying til landing on the hill.
Tears threatened the innocent limey green eyes… Would she always be this stupid?

Gemini had gained the strength to fly through the helpful lessons of a friend. Her healing horn had also helped with an old injury which had caused him pain over the years. With out her he wouldnt be able to touch the clouds like he could now. His mind often drifted to her, wondering what she was doing and hoping she was well. Besides his siblings she was his only real friend. He laughed to himself and shook his head, he had to get out more.
Then there was that other mare, she was a bit strange in the head but she had shown him the glory of snow in his younger years. He smiled as his wings flexed and propelled him forward through the sky, his memories where fond ones, but ones of youth and a time that seemed so very distant. He hadn't met anyone new in a long time.
By chance he looked down and spotted a mottled mare on a grassy hill. Almost passing her by her looped around on a second thought. Here he was thinking how he hadnt met anyone new when someone new was right down there. He didnt have anywhere to be so why not stop by and try to make a new friend?
He tucked his wings and dove from the sky. "Hello there." he called down to her as not to startle her by just appearing from the heavens. He expanded her wings and floated down to land gracefully on the hilltop.

If Lena were to continue at her current rate, the mare was going to have to invest in someone to take care of her, or she was going to be dead in a week. Okay, both of those might be a bit of an exaggeration, but she really wasn’t doing very well. Home was such a long way away too, she had set out a couple of weeks ago, figuring to make her mark on the world or to at least make some friends in the Soquili lands. So far she hadn’t done either.
Weight of her failure seemed to make Lena shrink to an even smaller stature, the temperature outside had been chilly but pleasant a few minutes ago… and now it seemed oppressive and unrelenting. It was all in how she chose to view it, apparently. Yes.. That was exactly right. She’d have to find something good in falling.
Just as she had set her mind towards figuring out what was good about falling, the greeting of someone drifted into her ears and she startled quite obviously. Even with his attempt at making himself known, Lena hadn’t been expecting it. “Oh.. Oh hello… My name’s Lena.” The greeting came out in an easy rush.
How had the stallion been able to fly so quietly? She usually made more noise than an angry opossum when landing. She fluttered her wings and tried to blink away the tears that had just started to dry up.

There were several unicorns in Lena’s family, one of them probably would be best for teaching her how to fly. He was actually a winged unicorn, whatever those were supposed to be called. Although Drae had told her repeatedly that besides a little bit of healing here and there, he wasn’t much good at it. Perhaps it was because her friend wasn’t that much older than she was. Who really ever knew about these things? It boggled the mind.
While thinking those thoughts her mind skittered away to different people she had met. The best one had been a stallion, one with odd mutated wings. He had let her play knight to his dragon. A soft smile began to grow on her face, taking away the hint of tears that still edged in the eyes. It also distracted her from the incoming visitor.
Startled eyes looked up to see a stallion sweeping down. His intentions were probably to not startle, but since she hadn’t been paying even half an ounce of attention.. It didn’t work that well. Luckily, she didn’t scream down the sky the way she had the last time a wind had come down quietly.
Tossing her head back, the bands to her braids jangling quietly, Lena bobbed her head in greeting before pasting a shy smile on her face. Once she warmed up, getting her to shut up would probably be amazing, but until then… “Hello… I’m Lena… I didn’t hear you coming until well, you were already here.”
