The drive to D-corp had not been completely unfamiliar to Reign. She'd ridden along enough with her mother and sister to recognize the route and know when they were drawing close. The car ride had been silent. The D-tech hadn't said a word since they'd left her mother's house and the crazy man didn't even have a radio playing.
Once or twice, Reign had asked a question, but the man just said she'd know all that when they got there. Well, he hadn't said it in that many words, but Reign had gotten the point. So she just sat and tried not to go insane from the silence. At this point, Reign was wishing she'd grabbed her mp3 player. But she'd still been (and in fact still was) in shock.
Finally, the large building began to loom over them and Reign began to get nervous. Surely this was a mistake? How was she supposed to raise a kid? Didn't they mean her mother?? The chimp girl's thoughts continued on like this as the tech parked and they headed inside. The tech led Reign straight to a little office-like room, where he pulled out some paperwork and pointed to where she was supposed to sign.
Reign picked the pen up and started to sign when she realized she should probably read this stuff. It was a lot of paper, and she'd probably be expected to know this stuff later. Though, as she started to read over it all (to the dismay of the tech), Reign realized that she knew quite a bit of this from her sister. This kid would get a dragon just like Ala had. And the kid would have to come back for classes and such. She knew all that too.
Finally, Reign signed the forms and glanced back up at the tech, who quickly gathered the paperwork together and gestured for her to follow him as he left and headed towards another room.

The place was ominous. It was large and evil and spelled doom, in the form of an older brother. As T'rin parked his small car in the lot, the tech, who had indeed showed up to accompany him, pointed towards the front door. T'rin glanced around nervously, unconsciously hunching his shoulders.
Quickly T'rin scurried through the front doors, silent tech still directing him. Down some hallways and into a cramped little room, with nothing but a contract, a pen, and a small desk to sign it on.
Reluctantly T'rin signed, his loopy signature looking strange against the small neat type of the document. He didn't bother reading the contract, figuring he'd just beat it out of Peri later. As soon as he was done, the tech gestured for the man to follow him.
As the two left the room, into the hallway T'rin noticed a pair exiting just in front of them. Quickly, T'rin scooted onto the other side of the tech, earning a strange look.

The tech led Reign to another room, this one bigger and with some toys in it that made it appear to be a playroom. Inside, two children were playing until the door opened and the tech and Reign walked in. The one in pink darted to the farthest corner from the door and cowered, covering its face with its hands.
Reign took one look and turned on the tech with her. "You didn't say anything about two kids!"
The tech appeared to be barely refraining himself from rolling his eyes. "The other has a guardian as well. He should be here soon. We didn't want to leave one alone here without the other. They're rather.... attached."

The toddler in purple darted after the one in pink, wrapping her arms securely around her friend.
The pair followed the woman and tech down the hall, T'rin dropping back as much as possible. As the furred woman and tech dissapeared into the last door in the hallway, T'rin spoke up. "We-we're not going in there are we?"
The tech rolled his eyes, deigning to give a curt response, "Yes."
Gulping, T'rin hesitated before following the tech through the door. Inside there were two toddlers, one in the corner hiding, the other had it's arms wrapped securely around the first.
"Purple is yours," the tech said shortly before leaving T'rin alone in the room. Torin gulped, and backed up slowly to the door.
"Hi?" He squeaked out.

Reign glanced towards the door as a man entered. When the tech said that the one in purple was T'rin's, she glanced at the tech who'd brought her here. "One in pink is mine, then?" The tech nodded as he headed for the doorway and made his way out to leave the new parents and the two kids alone.
The chimp woman glanced once more at the man, before turning her gaze towards the children. The one in pink... hers, she would have to remember, was shaking and hiding its face in the purple one's chest.
"S-scared, K-kate..." Cassi muttered to his friend. "S-scary people..."

"Not scary." Kate whispered back, pating the back of her friend. "I'll protect you," she added baring her teeth at the two adults.
T'rin gulped as one of the puppies smiled, possibly, at him. "I'm...uh...T'rin...." he muttered, scooting along the wall opposite the woman. "Do...you have a..name?" he added hesitantly.

Cassi shook his head. "Scary." But he glanced up as Kate told him she'd protect him. He trusted her. She was his only friend, really. They'd been together almost as long as he could remember. The scary ones in the white coats wouldn't come too close to him if Kate was there! So he guessed these two would be the same.
Reign glanced over at the man, who appeared rather terrified about this whole thing. Well, maybe it was just the fact that he'd been given this child all of a sudden. The chimp woman took a few steps closer to the two children and knelt down. "My name is Reign." She said, pointing at her own chest.

Kate watched the funny people closely. They didn't have the white on, but that didn't mean they were trust-worthy. Only Cassi could be trusted. He might perfer to run away but she knew he wouldn't stick needles in her. 'Sides Cassi was the one to give her a name. A little growl escaped as the furry lady took one step too close.
T'rin gulped as 'his' - his!- child growled at Reign. "Tha-That's not very nice!" he forced out, quailing a little as the growl redirected towards him.

Reign raised an eyebrow at the girl in purple as she started to growl at her! The woman watched as the man stammered out something and resisted the urge to roll her eyes. He didn't seem like he would be able to handle this girl... Oh well, not her concern. Her concern was still cowering in the corner, shaking like the last leaf on a tree. "What's your name?" Reign asked the child in pink, her voice soft.
Cassi just shook harder as Reign actually looked at him. He yelped and clung tightly to Kate.
Reign sighed softly. This was going to be difficult. She pointed at her own chest again, repeating her name before pointing at the two kids.

T'rin glanced over at the woman before taking a deep breath. "You do not speak to your Daddy that way. Young...lady?" For a little while T'rin actually managed to sound stern.. Up until he stumbled across the problem of gender. It sort of looked like the kid was wearing a skirt but then again... So have some of his patients.
Kate's ears went flat at the rebuke. Her hands clenched Cassi tighter before the magic word floated out. Perk! Her ears flew back up, attention riveted on the jumpy man off to their side. "Daddy? No tech?" Not that she was letting go, but still...

Cassi felt Kate's attention drifting away. This was not good! He snuggled closer to his friend.
Reign smiled and nodded. They'd found the easy way! "Yes, he's your daddy. And I'm your friend's mommy. The techs brought us here." The woman relaxed some. This wasn't going to be so hard!

Kate patted Cassi on the head, almost absently as her mind flew over it. Looking suspiciously at Reign, the girl asked the most important question on her mind. "Mommy?"
T'rin choked on air at the artless question. In a near panic, he stared at the fur clad woman. He was going to draw and quarter Peri if that man had gotten him wrapped up in some kind of creepy marriage along with a kid.

Reign's smile fell a bit at Kate's question before she shook her head. "No, sweetie. Not your mommy. Just your friend's..." She didn't dare even glance over at the man in the room with her. That hadn't been hidden anywhere in the contract that she'd seen!!
Cassi's tail started to wag a bit in an absentminded fashion as the boy absorbed the attention from Kate like a dry sponge. He could almost forget those scary people that were there. They were still there, weren't they? He peered around Kate to confirm their presence. Okay. Wait... what was the furry one saying?

"NO!" Kate screamed at the woman. If she wasn't Kate's mommy but she was Cassi's mommy then... then.... something bad was in there. She wasn't entirely sure how it was bad, but it was and she wouldn't let anything bad happen to Cassi.
It was like a balloon steadily deflating as the the tension ran out of T'rin's body. The man winced as the child's screech rang through the room. "There, there... Please don't scream..."

Reign winced. Okay, not so easy anymore. Time for Plan B! The woman saw Cassi peering around from behind the other child, though he seemed a bit startled at Kate's sudden outcry. "Do you want a mommy?" She asked the child in pink, who stared at her for a long time.
"M-mommy?" The boy finally questioned, pointing at Reign.
The woman nodded, pointing at herself. "Mommy. You?" She pointed at the boy.
The kid pointed at himself and looked down at his own hand. "Me Cassi." Now that the furry woman had said she was his mommy... she didn't really look all that scary anymore... Mommies were supposed to be nice and loving! Not scary! In fact... Kate's screaming at his new mommy was now scarier than the woman herself.
The boy darted over to where Reign knelt and clung to her side, away from T'rin and Kate. "Tail!" He found the appendage and giggled softly when Reign twitched it in response to his statement.
