 It was nearing the end of winter, most of the snow had melted away, making way for the fresh green grass and bright wild flowers. Uni bounded among the bright blue and yellow flowers, who had just blossomed and barely came up to her hocks, but then again she had grown some during the long winter months. Nothing could dampen the young filly's spirits, aside from the fact that she had no one to play with and share this fine day with. But considering she had spent most of the winter alone, she had to quickly learn how to survive. It was only now when she didn't have to worry about cold and no food, that she got to really enjoy all life had to offer.
But it couldn't hurt to look for a friend or two, she thought, as she bounced wildly in the flowers, her pink eyes always on the lookout for friends.

 Isiah had emerged from his basket just a few days ago and as of now was still having trouble with walking. His front legs didn't respond as quickly as his hind legs but he figured with time he'd get used to them. The creature with the non-moving face hadn't tried to stop him from wandering off, which Isiah took as a sign that he was free to go wherever he wanted. Then again, he would have gone even if that creature didn't want him to go.
As he explored the vast expanse of land (without straying too far from his home) he spied a filly in the distance. From where he was, he could see she was not only bigger than him and that she had the most curious thing protruding from her forehead. Intrigued, Isiah half-trotted, half-cantered towards the filly. His movements seemed a little clumsy, but the young colt didn't appear to be bothered by it.
"Hiya!" He greeted brightly, stopping a few feet from the older female.

Uni saw him out of the corner of one of her bright pink eyes, while in mid-bound. She landed with a loud thud, all four hooves hitting the ground at once and sinking into the soft earth. "Hello." She said brightly, pulling her hooves out of the soft soil, her landing had driven them into it, instead of simply bouncing lightly out of it with her next bounce. He seemed quite unlike any foal she had met before, his legs looked metal, and he was wearing clothes, how strange she thought. "What is your name? I am Uni." She said with her head cocked to one side.

This had been the first time Isiah had seen another Soquili and was quite glad to find that he could understand her, unlike the tall creature back home.
"I'm Isiah!" he declared with a delighted swish of his tail. "Nice to meetcha, Uni." he was nothing short of excited. He hadn't expected to encounter another soquili, though he couldn't really say they were like each other. "Why's your tail and hooves different than mine?" He asked, raising one metallic leg to show Uni how his hooves weren't cloven like hers. His question held no malice, just a genuine curiosity at having met a uni for the first time.

"I don't know, I was just born like this. I have seen all sorts of strange things, like ones with wings like butterflies, or bird wings." She said trying to think of the other curious looking Soquili she had seen. "And even ones with wings like bats, but they say those ones are bad, I don't know why." She added, having never actually encountered a Kalona before, she wished she had seen one because they sounded quite interesting.
"I guess it is normal for us all to be different, It'd be pretty boring otherwise." She said, trying to sound like her few months of life had taught her anything, and weren't wasted wandering the lands with no where to go.

Isiah canted his head, trying to imagine what a soquili with wings looked like. He envisioned them to have their wings where their front legs would have been and seemed a little confused. He supposed he'd find out what they looked like eventually. "Boring's no fun." He nods in agreement, "It's why I'm explorin' and stuff. Are you exploring too? Wanna join me?" he asked.

"Alright." She said with a grin. "I was just wandering before I found you, don't know where I was wandering to. Where should we go?" She asked, as she scanned the horizon for anything interesting, ignoring the spring breezes that sent her forelock straight into one of her eyes.

Isiah paused to think, one front leg pawing absently at the ground. "I dunno, how about where the wind takes us?" he suggested, motioning towards the direction the wind blew. "Unless you wanna go somewhere else?" Uni did say she had been wandering, so it was entirely possible she had come from that direction. At least that was the logic behind the second question.

"Alright. I don't believe I have been down that way before, I wonder what is down there." She said partly to herself, as she started forward, taking the lead.

The colt quickly followed after the older filly, staying just abreast of her but never quite surpassing. His heavy front legs often compromised his speed, but that never really bothered Isiah. The vast expanse of land was far too open to hide anything that he hadn't seen before and wasn't exploring all about discovering new things?
Eventually they came across a small stream. Now, Isiah lived in the desert where the creature with the non-moving face provided him with water. Up to that point, he hadn't seen a moving body of water.
"What's that?" he gawked, wide eyed in amazement and curiosity.

Uni trotted merrily along, kicking up her heels in half-bucks as she jumped over small rocks (jumping far higher than necessary). She was happy just to have met a friendly face, and didn't care where they went next. She slowed as they neared the river, and was quite surprised when he asked what it was, how strange to have never seen a stream before. "That is a stream." She said simply. "They lead to bigger things called rivers, which lead out to the ocean." She added, though she had never been to the ocean herself, having only heard about it from someone she met earlier, but she very much wanted to go there.

"Stream." Isiah repeated, turning from the aforementioned body of water to Uni. "Why'd they all have to have different names if they're all just water?" Isiah wondered, ears flicking. He started towards the stream, front legs heavily digging into the soft, moist ground.

"Well one is little, one is bigger, and one is really big and salty. There are also brooks, ponds, puddles, lakes, bogs, and all sorts of things that have water in them. I guess it would be confusing if we just called them waters." She said trotting after him, at a slower pace since he had trouble moving in the soft ground.

Isiah canted his head as he took in the information, bright red eyes wide in amazement. "I guess so, the way we aren't all called Uni and Isiah, yeah?" he laughed, tossing his mane in amusement at his own joke. "Salty? Why would water be salty?" The water the tall creature gave him always tasted, well, like water. The world was quite strange and exciting, that was certain.
With his legs sinking into the soft ground, Isiah had to redistribute his weight among his legs in order to keep up with Uni. Whether he noticed her slowing down, it wasn't evident in his expression. Though it didn't bother the young colt in the least, no what bothered him was how little he knew of this vast world. But that was why he was exploring, wasn't it?
"Streams aren't salty are they?" It was a rhetorical question. He paused beside the moving body of water and then quickly lowered his neck to take a mouthful. "Nope!" He declared brightly with a smack of his lips.

"I don't know why it is salty, it just is." She said as she stepped carefully down towards the stream to get a drink, not wanting to slip and fall into the water. After getting a quick drink she straightened up, backing carefully away from the stream. "I suppose there is some reason for it, but I wouldn't know who might have the answer, and it would be a rather silly question to ask." She added.
