-- AIM Rp between Mwezi'Mtoto and Rin ((DFA and Tae))

He was hurt.

He was sweaty, he was bloodied and he was wounded. But above all, Mwezi was hurt; not only in pride, but in body too, as he lay curled up against a random tree the savannah had to offer. Of course, it'd been his fault entirely, for whom had ever told him to go fight off several rogues out of an urge? A possessive, protective urge had driven him away from Malkia one night when he'd scented male rogues in the air; male rogues that had distinctly notorious intentions, no doubt... and he'd felt the overwhelming urge to fight them off. To protect the scaled lioness. Not like he was willing to admit as much though, because he was perfect. As far as he was concerned, there was no more perfection than him upon the face of the place and.... oh GOD it hurt.

A low rumble of a growl flooded his system, though he refused to open his eyes to the world around him.

Rin hummed to herself as she padded along. There was a bounce in her step today, because today she had managed to CATCH something! Normally, she had to scavenge what other animals left lying around when they were done with their kill. She'd gnaw scraps of meat off bones, hoping that another bigger animal didn't come by to chase her off... it was tough, being an orphaned cub. Rin was one of the lucky ones. And today, she'd managed to catch some prey of her own!

The mouse's tiny corpse dangled out of her mouth like some kind of macabre yo-yo. She pranced along with it, too pleased with herself to eat it yet, when she suddenly smelled blood. Lots of blood. Slowing, she approached cautiously. The mouse was good, but if there was more meat around, she could certainly use it... she was skinny, even for a cheetah.

Sadly for Rin (or perhaps just as well), the blood she was scenting belonged to a rather large, white pelted lion whom was still very much alive, even if he wasn't all that prone to show as much at the current moment.

He hear her approach before he ever saw her, peeking his eyes just minimally open; there was a bounce in her step so loud a buffalo would've seen her coming from a mile away. Instead of saying anything, he closed his eyes again and turned his head away; he wanted her gone. She wasn't a threat.

Rin's eyes widened as she came around into view of the large lion. She gasped, and the mouse fell out of her mouth rather comically. After a moment, she scrambled to pick it back up, carrying it closer, sniffing curiously. He wasn't dead, but he looked very hurt. Rin frowned sadly. She stopped a foot or so away, still a bit cautious of Mwezi, given that he was much bigger than she was. After a moment's observation, however, she padded closer, sticking her nose right up to his, and then dropping the mouse near his muzzle. "Are you hungry?" She asked, ears perked with curiosity as she watched him.

Slowly, Mwezi opened one of his golden eyes once more, taking just a moment to glance at the small child whom had dared stop by his side. Why wasn't she gone yet? WHY, in the name of the lord, was she still here?

Her question irritated him and the lion did the best he could to glare harshly her way, his eyes narrowed in a way he could helped convey impending doom despite the fact his body didn't feel all that prone to causing it. He did not answer her thought and merely looked away, turning his head away from the mouse and closing his eyes once more.

Again, silence greeted her, his brows knitting together for all answer even as she pawed the mouse closer. He refused it silently though, his ears flopping back till they'd hidden inside his mane. The fluff that usually clung to his form elegantly, soaked in mud and blood from the fight, both his and the rogues.

Tell truth, he had no wish to tell the child just 'what had happened', and all what he wanted, as for her to leave him alone. In peace. Peace sounded like a good idea.

Despite this, he did not growl, or snarl. He merely remain where he was, silently wondering why the child was even there; he was a threat, yet she seemed hell bent on taking care of him? A small peek of his eyes revealed the child was skinny. So much so Mwezi wondered why she was giving him food when it was obvious she needed it more. A grim expression settled upon his lips. It was obvious he wasn't going to talk, at least... not now.

A brow twitched slightly as she asked what had happened, his gaze sliding over to her, almost as if voicing the reason silently; he'd fought, obviously. Then, however, he turned and looked away again, "Hm..." he made a noise in his throat, his paws cradled under his form, his eyes sliding shut. He was dismissing her, obviously.

Rin sighed and watched as Mwezi ignored her. She didn't like being ignored, and she wanted to help, but apparently he wasn't going to let her. In any case, taking the mouse back would be rude, and her stomach was beginning to growl. She folded her ears to her skull. "Okay, well.. I'll just go, then." She said softly, backing up a bit, and then turning to leave. She'd get something to eat, and then maybe return and see if he felt any better.

She left.

Mwezi turned his head to stare at the spot the cheetah cub had been sitting in, and then, slowly, agonizingly slowly, turned his head to watch her retreating form. He stared on long past her parting, almost as if by looking, he could come to understand the girl's intentions.

Finding himself tired, and not wishing to dwell, he ignored the world and turned away, his eyes closing. However, when he moved his head, his nose brushed against the mouse, and his eyes re-oped to stare at the meat.

Tired of puzzling, and tired of everything, he suddenly decided to hell with the world, and slowly opened his mouth, devouring the gifted meat in one bite. No sooner was he done, that he closed his eyes and slept - he dreamed of tanned pelted cheetahs and scaled lionesses.

Rin had marvelous luck, today! Not only able to catch a mouse all by herself, but shortly after she'd left Mwezi, she had stumbled upon an abandoned antelope corpse. It was mostly gone, but about half of one of the hind legs still had meat on it, and it was fairly fresh. Rin ate all she could, and then, with great effort, dragged the remaining scraps back to where she'd left the large lion. It was comical, as the leg was nearly half her size, but she finally managed to drop it at his paws, panting with the effort it took.

The lion in question seemed to be asleep; or at least, he looked it. However, as soon as the cheetah got near, one golden eye cracked open, an ear swirling to focus on her as she padded closer and closer, dragging a piece of meat that was, comically, almost half her size.

Mwezi had to refrain from cracking a smile; he still looked as languid as ever, however, now, amusement shone in his eyes, "Name?" it was murmured out of the blue, the mouse gone from where it'd been, voice strong, potent despite the fact he was murmuring.

"Hwuh?" Rin mumbled, licking the remains of blood off of her tiny muzzle. "Oh! Um, my name is Rin. What's yours?" She bowed her head a little bit, simply because it seemed the thing to do. The lion had a regal air about him. "Um, did you eat the mouse?" She asked, looking around. It was gone, certainly, so either he HAD eaten it, or some other scavenger had. She pushed the hunk of leg closer to Mwezi's nose, encouragingly. "I brought you something!"

"Rin," he echoed, then fell silent despite her questions, turning away once more. There was something about the male that hinted he was either mildly puzzled, or mildly amused; it was hard to tell which, but regardless, he turned back to face her, granting her an answer finally, "Mwezi''Mtoto," he told her, then a pause, his head tilting, "Yes," if anything, it was clear his answers were curt, blunt and to the point, never adding in more words than necessary.

Blinking languidly, he turned to look at the meat, "I... see," he drawled, as if he were mildly amused by the situation, then he closed his eyes. This time it was not a dismissal, but rather, a hint that she was allowed to stay, for whatever reason.

Rin looked ecstatic that Mwezi had finally started to answer her questions. She beamed, and seated herself by his side, like she was a tiny accessory. "Mwezi'Mtoto." She repeated, trying the name out thoughtfully. She then frowned as he closed his eyes, extending a thin paw to poke lightly at his shoulder. "You should eat, Mwezi'Mtoto!" She informed him. "You are hurt, and eating is good for your health." She nudged the meat closer to him, until it butted up against his nose.

"Mwezi is fine," he informed her, his voice a soft rumble as he let out a sigh, his eyes still closed. They opened a crack though as soon as her paw touched his shoulder, blinking slightly, once, twice before his gaze slid towards her.

The meat then hit his nose, and Mwezi found himself staring at it almost cross eyed for a moment before he blinked the expression away. He looked confused then, suddenly, as if he couldn't quite understand how he'd arrived at that particular moment in time, nor why there was meat bumping his nose, or a small cheetah touching him. After a moment or two, he sniffed, nosing the meat an inch away, "I am fine," he told her, not edging away from, "You should eat; you are thin."

"Okay," Rin agreed, bobbing her head. "Mwezi." She peered back at him as he looked at her, wide brown eyes meeting his gold ones. "But you're hurt." She insisted, frowning. "I already had some, and I'm full." She said, trying to look reassuring.

"I am fine," he reassured her, languid gaze meeting hers, "I merely require sleep. I am sufficiently nurtured; you are thin," he closed his eyes and tucked his head to the side, towards her and towards the fluff that hung off his form, as if preparing to sleep, but no longer dismissing her.

"I'm a cheetah," Rin said, giving him a long look. "I'm *supposed* to be thin." But then he closed his eyes again, and she supposed there was no arguing with him. The meat would be there if he wanted it. Sighing, she wriggled closer in to his warm body and curled herself into a little ball next to him, tucking her nose under her fore paw and closing her eyes.

He woke up restless, with a scent hitting his nose that made him frown and though he'd been comfortable, happy and resting, Mwezi suddenly lifted his head from where it'd been resting, half covering Rin's body, half laying over the fluff that covered them both.

His eyes narrowed as he inhaled deeply, the scent of rogues reaching him, making him growl low in his chest, a deep rumble before he stood and shook himself off the dust that had settled on him. He was about to leave when he looked down at Rin, still settled in a small comfortable bundle against his fluff, and after just a moment's hesitation, the lion reached down and grabbed her by the the scruff of her neck.

He carried her away then, towards the distance, where he could still scent Malkia, Rin safely dangling from his maw.
