My own Personal cleric guide


This is a cleric guide that I've started and I don't know how far I'll be going into this guide but I'll try to keep it up-to-date
(right now everything is still in my word doc. still in progress so expect this to be blank for a bit I'm filling this out piece by piece as I fill out my word doc.)

1.Introduction
this is my personally made Cleric guide based on my personal experience with them. I will try to make this not-so-boring and keep it short at the same time making sure all the needed information is in place. if any information is missing or out-of-place, please tell me and I will try to change the errors or add in the missing information

2.Why be a cleric
Your probably asking "why be a cleric?". Clerics are great for multiple reasons. some reasons are being able to find that Esther shield while gaining decent EXP instead of having to buy it wasting 1m-2.5m. another reason is the fact that clerics are able to recover HP as a skill, there are many great reasons for being a cleric and most of them should be said as you progress through this guide.

3.Cleric Pros and Cons
Some Positives and Negatives of a cleric:
Pros(+):
-Lots of stat buff skills
-3rd job has Holy symbol which gives you 150% more EXP when maxed (thanks to BlackFireEx for this correction)
-Can easily get into PQs
-Heal damages undead monsters
-You receive EXP for healing party members
-Clerics are great money makers

Cons(-):
-Leveling gets harder after lvl 60 till 3rd job
-Clerics take lots of time and patience to make
-There are not a lot of good training spots
-Clerics don't have many good offensive skills
-There are not a lot of monsters you can use heal on

4.Starting your cleric
When you start making your cleric your stats should look a little something like this:
STR:4
DEX:4
INT:*
LUK:*
(The asterisk means the stat number can be anything)
keep re-rolling till you get these stats. If rolling for 4's is too hard, 5 works as well though I don't recommend going over 5. When you start your maple adventure on maple island try to do all the quests there before you reach lvl 8 because magicians are the only class that can start at lvl 8.
The reason I ask you to finish everything before lvl 8 is because there are 2 quests that will help you reach lvl 9 easily which would be the Hair quest and the Olaf quest.
(Note: I recommend doing the Pio quest to obtain the chair because compared to standing and the blue chair, it recovers 50 HP/10 sec. woohoo! thats 100 mesos saved!)


4a.Beginner skills
Here is the list of Beginner skills you get at the beginning of the game:

Recovery
Master Lv: 3
Description: Enables the user to recover HP constantly for 30 sec. Terms between skills: 10 min.
Lv 1: MP -10; Recovers 24 HP in 30 sec.
Lv 2: MP -20; Recovers 48 HP in 30 sec.
Lv 3: MP -30; Recovers 72 HP in 30 sec.
Edit:
(I recommend and I dont recommend maxing this for some reasons, I recommend this because it will help you recover HP as you move I dont recommend this at the same time because the chair you get from one of the quests recover 50 HP/10 sec. which equals to 150 HP recovered in 30 seconds, Way more than what Recovery can recover in 30 seconds but the good thing is Recovery can also be used while using the chair so within half a minute you would recover 150 HP from the chair PLUS 72 HP from recover so its your call on what you want to max)

Three snails
Master Lv: 3
Description: Hurls snail shells to attack monsters from long distance.
Lv 1: Snail Shell -1, MP -10; Damage 10
Lv 2: Blue Snail Shell -1, MP -15; Damage 25
Lv 3: Red Snail Shell -1, MP -20; Damage 40
(I recommend maxing this because at low lvls you wont do much dmg and this will help you when your on maple island killing mushies)

Nimble feet
Master Lv: 3
Description: Enables the character to move around quickly for a short amount of time. Terms between skills: 15 min.
Lv 1: MP -10; Speed +10 for 4 sec
Lv 2: MP -15; Speed +15 for 8 sec
Lv 3: MP -20; Speed +20 for 12 sec
(I'm not really sure weither I should max this or not since it gets replaced later on with teleport though it does come in handy at 1st job so its your call if you want to max it)

4b.Stat builds
Here are some common stat builds that I know of.

Regular stat build
This is the most common stat build for any magician. your luk should be your lvl + 3 and the rest goes to Int. it should look something like this:
Lvl 10
Luk 13
Int Everything else into Int

Lvl 11
Luk 14
Int Everything else into Int

Lvl 12
Luk 15
Int Everything else into Int

LUKless stat build
This is another stat build I see alot. This build increases your magic Atk and Def by ALOT but it keeps you from wearing your magician armor or using your staffs and wands because all you increase is your Int and NOTHING else. This build just focuses on Matk and Mdef so I dont think I need to draw you a diagram to show you what this looks like...

5.Becoming a magician
The requirements for becoming a magician:
Min lvl: 8
Stats required: 20 Int
Talk to Grendel the really old when you meet these reqirements
(Note: If your doing the Olaf quest Grendel should tell you the requirements)

6.Skills
Here are all the 1st job skills for a magician:

Improving MP recovery
Master Lv: 16
Description: Recovering even more MP every 10 sec. The higher the level of the character and the skill level, the more recovery it enables the character to have.
Lv 1: Constant additional recovery of MP
Lv 8: Constant additional recovery of MP
Lv 16: Constant additional recovery of MP
(all this skill does is increase your MP recovery, its pretty helpful since unlike HP, MP will recover weither your walking or not and this skill increases how much MP you gain depending on the skill Lv and your Lv so I recommend maxing it)

Improving Max MP increase
Master Lv: 10
Description: This skill boosts up the amount of increase on MaxMP after each Level UP, or AP used on MaxMP.
Pre-Requisite: Improving MP recovery Lv 5.
Lv 1: If Level UP, +2 more; if AP applied, +1 more on top on MaxMP
Lv 5: If Level UP, +10 more; if AP applied, +5 more on top on MaxMP
Lv 10: If Level UP, +20 more; if AP applied, +10 more on top on MaxMP
(You will need this skill No questions asked. This skill increases your MP even further by abit every time you Level up and in the end it will total up to alot of MP)

Magic Guard
Master Lv: 20
Description: Temporarily replaces damage with MP instead of HP. If MP reaches 0, the HP takes a full hit.
Lv 1: MP -6; Replace 11% of HP damage as MP for 111 seconds.
Lv 10: MP -8; Replace 42% of HP damage as MP for 330 seconds.
Lv 20: MP -12; Replace 80% of HP damage as MP for 600 seconds.
(this skill will save your a** as it takes a percentage of the damage into MP. heres an example: a monster hits you at 100 dmg and you have magic guard at Lv 20, so when you get hit youll only lose 20 HP and 80 MP. Its MP consuming but its a life-saver)

Magic Armor
Master Lv: 20
Description: Temporarily boosts the weapon defense by blowing magic into the armor.
Pre-Requisite: Magic Guard Lv 3.
Lv 1: MP -8; Weapon Def. +2 for 54 seconds.
Lv 10: MP -10; Weapon Def. +20 for 200 seconds.
Lv 20: MP -16; Weapon Def. +40 for 400 seconds.
(this skill isnt all that great...all it really does is add W.def. later on this will become a neusance and will be overshadowed by Invincible and you have to use 3 skill points on Magic Guard just to be able to Level this skill up so might as well Master Magic guard)

Energy Bolt
Master Lv: 20
Description: Use MP to attack one enemy.
Lv 1: MP -6; Basic attack 20, mastery 15%
Lv 10: MP -9; Basic attack 35, mastery 35%
Lv 20: MP -14; Basic attack 55, mastery 60%
(as its name intends....its a ball of mana....its your primary attack up untill you learn Magic claw so leave this at Level 1)

Magic claw
Master Lv: 20
Description: Use MP to attack an enemy twice.
Pre-Requisite: Energy bolt Lv 1.
Lv 1: MP -10; Basic attack 11 x 2 Hit, mastery 15%
Lv 10: MP -13; Basic attack 23 x 2 Hit, mastery 35%
Lv 20: MP -20; Basic attack 40 x 2 Hit, mastery 60%
(this shall be your Main attack skill when you become a cleric because this allows you to attack your enemy twice but because it allows you to attack your enemy twice it has a base attack of 40 per slash....that doesnt mean 40+40=80, it means you have two seperate attacks with a base of 40 but i recommend this skill because this attack can also attack monsters through WALLS and yes I have tried it myself)

This is the possibly most commonly used Skill build for magicians:
