Most intense pit I've been in, that's all I have to say. Oh, but pit ninja... Must explain.
You see, I was waiting in line since about 4:40pm. The doors didn't open until like 6:30 or 7pm. While waiting, I happened to see the guy who used to be the day sort supervisor at UPS. We both noticed each other at the exact same time, it was funny. He said that he was going up the line to stand with his girlfriend, they had both been there since 9:30am. Luckily when I got there the line wasn't so bad.
Oh, and it was a little cold, but not so bad. Two others who went to the Montreal show the night before and were with Andrea and I at the hotel said they stood in line for 9 hours in the frigid, snowy, windyness. The guy swore he was gonna lose his toe at one point.
rofl Anyways, doors open, and I needed to take a piss badly from standing in line... Ok, maybe drinking that 710ml Pepsi wasn't the wisest choice except for the fact that it was my food substitution of the day, so there.
Now, once I got up to the doors, they had guys walk through the first door and girls through a door a few closed doors over. This was for the pat down. This was the first time I've seen this happen, and I didn't give a ******** who patted me down. So yea, closest door + shortest line... Kinda like with bathrooms, eh? You so know I went through the guy door. Hell, there's the chance that had I gone to the girl door they would have sent me to the guy door anyways. Like I've said many times, I'm a tomboy, and it has it's ******** advantages.
domokun So yea, I get through security in seconds, get my wrist band and checked out the crowd. You see, I wanted a good spot, but I also needed to piss. If I went to the washroom at that point, no doubt it would have been busy. So I went for the pit. I started walking to this one part, and opening next to some guy right up against the cade. He turned around then scooted over as though to save the spot. Now, I'm blind so it wasn't until I got closer that I noticed it was that guy I worked with at UPS. ******** score! Got a spot saver, actually... A few of them in fact. BOO YAA!
However, I didn't think it wise to piss at this time. Like I said, it was most likely busy. I was hoping that maybe in between the two openers, people would go for a break, but I doubted it. That pit was there for LP and LP alone. It crowded up pretty fast. Now, the first band finished, and I stood there plotting an action plan. I really needed to piss at this point. I had the two big guys there, hold my spot for me if I were to make it back. If not, at least they had more room. I squeezed through the pit, went to the washroom. As I was leaving the washroom I could hear Coheed start. I got back into the pit, and snuck through most of the pit during that first song. Only had one person try to shove me for this, I sorta shoved back and went through anyways.
xd I ended up behind maybe two rows of people from my friends. I knew that I wouldn't have been able to sneek past them before I had left... However, I knew that the pit would loosen them a bit and push me up. Within three songs my friend noticed me, pointed me out to the other guy and he let me in next to him, and planned on switching sides when Coheed had finished.
They were all surprised that I managed to get back up there. My response? I am the pit ninja!
ninja Now, the lead singer of Coheed... Although I saw a clip of them before, I wasn't really thinking about it until I saw him. ******** b*****d looks like Cousin Itt with a mic stand sticking out of his face.
rofl So yea, Coheed finished, pit pushed forward. Oh, and I forgot to mention. From the beginning, you could see Rob's drum kit below the stage. When they were about to go on, I had a clear view of Rob's face. I yelled at him and it pointed at my with his sticks.
pirate During the first song of the set, No More Sorrow, 10 or so girls in my area alone were pulled out. It was like, damn, this pit's turning out well already. Good thing I went to the washroom, my bladder would have definitely exploded if full and in that thing.
Now, a few songs in, I ended up getting pulled away from the cade. Although it wasn't a bad thing. Why? Well, metal is harder than a person, so bracing yourself against it kinda hurts. Not to mention some d**k behind me wouldn't move his arm and was close to choking me a few times. I ******** elbowed him in the gut... "By accident". Oh, and I did similar things to others who had no ******** respect for people in the pit. The ones who were purposely trying to crush people.
Lots of crowd surfing. At one point two guys went up right behind me. I don't think it was by choice either. I turned because I felt a gap. ******** pit circle! This huge guy and his slightly smaller buddy jumping into each other.
Oo! The stage itself was elaborate and awesome. The no longer have the four stands up front. At least not on this stage. Although, it may have been because it was a 360 stage. There were some long platforms, at least at the front. Then there was the 5 grid screens. Those things were ******** awesome. They would lower and rotate and stuff. Sometimes displaying some loop animation, and sometimes displaying the band members. I especially loved those, because I think they purposely had them pointing down on an angle for heavier songs. Then displayed the band. Because you know what. I couldn't see s**t but them during those songs.
During Pushing Me Away, some a*****e lit up a cigarette and shared it with three other bums ahead of me. The two girls of the group looked like snobby, 12 year old wannabe punks. ******** wanted to punch them out. Especially the one with the lip stud. She looked like a crack head.
Faint was the last song. ********, people were forced into pogoing with that song. The pit was moving you, you had no control over what you were doing during that.
blaugh Didn't catch anything, close to, but didn't. Got watered by Chester early on, and at the end by Mike. Oh, and during Faint, I got slammed right into the back of this guy with a sweat drenched hoodie. That was... Pleasent.
Haha, when I was leaving, I noticed the two who were at the Montreal show. They had pit tickets, but they had also received free tickets, up close. They took the seats because they wanted to focus more of taking pics. Although the one guy, who was also at the Detroit show, took awesome ******** pics in the pit. Of course, he is a huge guy. Huge guy. And when I say huge... Well, ********, his screen name is ManBearPig, and it kinda looks the part. In no way that is to be offensive, he's an awesome guy.
Oh, ********, I can't wait until he posts his vids. I must show you guys! He vidded BIO at all the shows he went to I think. I saw the one from Montreal, I think, just before going to the concert. Hehe, Rob broke his stick at the end of his solo at that one. He ******** went ape s**t.
But yea, I saw those two, I didn't know where they wee sitting until I spotted them. Hehe, that guy is so easy to spot in a crowd. They told me where to meet. I needed merch at this point. Got myself a tour shirt, and two tour posters. They were selling the extras from the Montreal show, because appearently those didn't sell out. The better for me.
pirate Then when leaving, we passed another merch stand and I noticed something I didn't see at the other stand. I couldn't tell what they were because of blindness and pitness. But yea, it was a tour book. The others had bought them and didn't tell me about them!
scream I bought the last one that was on display.
biggrin Oh, and outside waiting for a cab, there was an ambulance. This was at least half an hour after the show. The later brought some unconscious girl on a stretcher out to it. She either got hurt right at the end, and I didn't see the commotion, or she passed out after the show or something.

Lasted yesterday on that Pepsi, half a sub for breakfast. Got a coke after I got back to the hotel... And Andrea bought me a bag of chips because she said I should eat something... Because "I don't know how you're still alive!"... I told her I took that as a threat and that she means to kill me in my sleep. Then I told her that I'd spot her trying to smoother me with my pillow because her PJs glow in the dark. Holy ********, when she showed me them, it was like the video for Soft Cell's Tainted Love.
