Haki pawed at the water, listening to the ripples as they danced across the surface. Below, the fish swam about, blowing bubbles now and then. Around him, birds danced and sang, letting the world know summer was drawing closer to a close. The khaki-marked deep brown juvenile enjoyed it all, for it all made him smile. Nothing sounded more beautiful to his ears than music, for it filled the world around him.
Something seemed very familiar about the whole setting - This was exactly where and how he had met Taichi. It wasn't that Haki didn't LIKE his friend... Something about him, though, was off. The juvenile just couldn't put his paw on what it was. Maybe it was how the nickname "Songbird" had become less of a taunt and more of an affectionate name, maybe it was something else, but... Something was changing in his friend. The cub let out a sigh, stretching his legs out slightly.

Kohpi hummed, a bit of a dance in her step. She was happy, she was pleasant. Her sister's family was doing well, and she assumed her own was as such. After all, her sons were with Discord, what could POSSIBLY go wrong?
The primarily-white female paused in her musings when she spotted a dark mass near the water. Drawing closer, she found a juvenile. A pang tugged at her heart, making her think of her own sons. How she missed them... His markings even made her think of them. Padding over, she smiled. "Hullo!"

The juvenile jumped, nearly falling in the water. When he looked over, he did a double take. It LOOKED like Tai's mother, but... "Hi... Um... Do you know Taichi, by any chance...?" Maybe she did... She DID look just like his mother! And Tai's brother, for that matter. When he thought about it, Tai looked more like Shin than Kabichi.

The lioness smiled wide, red eyes dancing. "Taichi is my nephew!" A coo danced out, showing the affection the lioness had for her family. She sat down next to the juvenile, a purr rumbling in her throat. "A friend of Tai's is a friend of mine! I'm Kohpi!"

Blinking, Haki watched her. "I'm Haki... But Tai calls me Songbird..." Was it really because of his singing, or was it something... Else? "So... You're Tai's aunt... Does he seem... Odd to you?"

"No odder than the rest of us." The lioness cracked into a grin, giggling at her own joke. Mellowing a bit, she smiled softly at Haki. "All I know about my nephews is they got Momma's size. Momma's HUGE! She's as big as a.. As a..." What was it that Shomoro had called them...? Oh, yeah! "As big as a Firekin!" She held her forepaws out, as if to testify to just how big Mioyo was.

The juvenile eyed her. How big WAS a Firekin? He'd never met one before... He suddenly had the niggling desire to go meet one, even if it meant going into the desert he'd been strictly forbidden to NOT go into. By Tai's father, no less... Something about his sister and some such. He didn't fully understand himself, but he'd have to go goad Tai into going... Now that sounded odd to his mind. Him, goad TAI, into going somewhere dangerous. He looked back at Kohpi, blinking a bit. Speaking of Tai's aunts nad uncles... "Which side are you his aunt on, anyway? You don't look like Shin..."

"Kabichi's my sister!" The lioness puffed her chest up, smiling proudly. "She's older than me!" And she'd found a place to stay safe all on her own, too, while Kohpi and Fuego had been with Mioyo. Her tail flicked a bit, catching the sunlight. "Why does Tai call you Songbird?"

Shrugging, Haki gently flicked a rock out into the water. "I like music... I hear it in everything, even the rock I just sent across the water... And I sing." He looked up at the adult, wondering if she'd think him weird. Then again, she was more hyper and cubbish than his sisters were.

"You sing? That's so cool!" Kohpi smiled, leaning over a bit. Not much, though - She was still rather tiny compared to most adults. She'd almost pass for an adolescent, she was so small. "Can you sing for me? If you don't mind... I've never heard a lion sing before!"

"Y-you want me to... To sing? For you?" He was shocked, honored, and most certainly flustered. Somebody wanted to hear him sing! But what COULD he sing for her? As he sifted through his store of music, he hummed to himself. The hum soon grew louder before words slowly came to it, "Shwele baba... Siyakubongela... Usi lethel' injabulo... Noxolo..." He stopped, watching her expression. Had he sung the wrong thing?

Eyes shining, Kohpi pulled Haki into a semi-hug. "That was beautiful!" She smiled at him again, ears up from listening. "You should fill the world with song! Everybody will love it!" A hum came to her throat, having caught on. "Fatshe leso... Lea halalela... Uli-buse le lizwe... Izwe lethu..." She paused, blinking a bit as her ears flicked. What were the next words...? She didn't know. She looked at Haki, though, eyes dancing. "I like that... Singing..."

He nodded, looking at the water. Singing was good, it was a release for the very soul. He nodded, before smiling at her. At that moment, though, a call told him his parents were looking for him. Getting up, he did a sort of bow. "It was nice meeting you, Kohpi! We should sing again some time, you have a good ear for it!" A grin lit his deep-brown and khaki face before he turned and ran off, short mane blowing in the wind.

A purr rumbled in her throat as she called out, "Keep singing to the world, Haki!" She then got up, tail curling. What now...? Red eyes looked around before she wandered to find her sister. She had to tell Kabichi! It nibbled her mind, though, how Haki made her think of her own sons. And the pangs of yearning began to fill her, making her realise she missed them. With a small sigh, she ran off. Had to find Kabi!
