Why is it that we never talk about Vagrant Story in this guild at all? It's set in Ivalice and moves along with the timeline of that realm, sharing a history with the FFT and FFXII series'. So why is it that even though this game is more connected to that which is of several final fantasies than KH is, we still don't even mention it?

 ✿NarcissusOfDeath ❧❧ Vagrant Story may have some connections to Final Fantasy, but it is not with Final Fantasy. It is its own series. Not only that, but I don't think many have had the chance to play the game. Reading that name brings back memories, and I remember the frustration I went through to actually understand the game.

As I see it. It has just as strong connections to final fantasy that Kingdom hearts does. Just instead of sharing characters, it shares a world.

✿NarcissusOfDeath ❧ ❧ Now that you have mentioned it, it does have some of it's similarities. However, the only reason why Kingdom Hearts is tided closely to Final Fantasy IS due to the characters they used. While Vagrant Story has some connections to Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII, it shames me to say that the connection isn't strong enough for anyone to connect. In all honesty I didn't realize the similarities to the two game since I didn't put much attention to Vagrant Story until you mentioned it. My memories on the game are a bit vague, but I think I remember enough to say that there is a connection. However, I don't think many in this guild has played such game. A shame, really. I really liked Yasumi Matsuno design. ~Narcissus of Death ✿

Vagrant Story is an awesome game, but the first post did pretty much hit the nail on the head.
Now, surely, it's not that we "cannot" talk about it. The chatterbox/non-FF forum is there for a reason. But, Vagrant Story is definitely not related to FF in anyway, really, other than being set in a similar place. Ivalice is apparently an entire world, given the games that take place there.
I wish I had a Playstation still so I could play that...

Well, I have to say I personally never talk about it because I don't know anything about it... So exactly what's with the setting? Does it take place in the actual same places as XII and Tactics and whatnot, Dalmasca and whatnot? Or is it just called Ivalice? (I really don't know Tactics either, so excuse my ignorance, please.)

I'm not sure I've ever even heard about this. Although, if I can draw a conclusion from Chaos's post, it's a PS1 game, which would definately explain my lack of knowlage. (It's ringing faint bells though, and it's friggen annoying. What the hell am I thinking of?)
How closely is it connected to Ivalice? Is it directly set in one of the Tactics worlds or the XII world? Or is it, like those three, merely a land with the same name but different locations?

It's in Ivalice, that's really all I can remember for the similarities right now, but I've just begun playing through it again in hopes of finding more. I'll let you know if/when I find anything, because I know I remember finding something that made it really click with FFT in my mind. I have a timeline, from my other guild, that's widely agreed upon by several forum sites, that I could post here, but I'm not so sure it would highlight the connections enough to actually prove a strong enough connection to be considered something to count with the FF titles.

Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII all take place in the same region of Ivalice, but very far apart in the timeline.
Final Fantasy XII happens first, then Revenant Wings, then much later Final Fantasy Tactics, then even later Vagrant Story.
Somehow Balthier managed to travel through time into the distant future of Tactics, where he met his distant descendant Mustadio.
The Tactics Advance series so far is in an alternate Ivalice that is imagined by children in the real world who are familiar with the Ivalice games. Simlarly, at least one machine created in the FF12 era which still exists in the Tactics era allows teleportation between Ivalice and the reality in which Final Fantasy VII takes place.
