Plot  It's been Sixteen long years since Naruto fullfilled his dream to lead the Hidden Leaf Village. After much trial and error, and a three year war with the Rain Village, the hyper-active, demon possessed ninja has finally earned the respect he deserves. Gaara, however, hasn't had such a lucky run. His long forgotten sand is becoming harder and harder to control, and his hard earned respect is slowly slipping away. Above all of this, the Sand Village gets whispers of rumors that their village has grown weak because of Gaara's so called debt he owes Naruto. With his own problems, and the Leaf Village weak, Gaara didn't want to, but forced by popular demand and the desire to prove their strength, he declares war on the recovering Leaf Village, attempting to take their territory.  The Cold War begins between the two villages. The tension grows between two leaders forced into a war neither wanted. The Sand Ninja grow restless as the Leaf Ninja become weary. Gaara finally takes the first toward violence with the interception of Naruto's newest Peace Treaty attempt, a plea from Rock Lee, and the recruitment of a Leaf Ninja who will do anything within his power for the safe return of Lee. The Cold War ends with the capture of Lee and the first assassination attempt on Naruto and spirals out of both the leaders' control as the elite of the Leaf Village turn on each other in a suicide attempt to recover Lee and Gaara struggles to control his sand, his village, and even his own emotions about his villagers, his family and the people he is being forced to kill.

RULES 1. This is a Naruto RP. They cuss in the manga, but if I see a word that I've never seen in the manga and/or anime (English Dub. Don't tell me they say **** in the Jap version) I won't tolerate it! 2. Made-ups needed and wanted! 3. Characters such as Kakashi and Iruka are welcome, just remember... If Naruto is already pushing 30 something, they must be pretty old. 4. Next Gen characters are welcome. (If you are playing a Next Gen, either check with the person playing your character's parent(s) or be their parent(s).Their parent(s) do not have to be present in the RP if they are a next Gen.) 5. Killing is fine, just make sure you work it out with the person you're killing outside of the RP 6. Please post characters in the Character Forum 7. If you have a character that isn't a made up that you plan on being only every once in a while, you don't have to post their profile! 8. NO PERFECT CHARACTERS! Your character can be hit and can be dodged. Powerplaying is not welcomed here!

Prologue Sand Village "Gaara, you can't do this!" The ninja calmly looked at his brother. "Why ever not, Kankuro?" He asked. Kankuro sighed and started pacing. "Declaring war? On the Leaf Village?! Because of rumors! That's just plain..." "It's not just the rumors," Gaara interrupted, but Kankuro didn't seem to hear. "...stupid!" He continued. "This isn't the exams! This is real life! You can't just try your skills just because..." "This isn't just about the rumors!" Gaara snapped. Kankuro, once again, ignored him. "...the Rain Village is giving you a hard time! Are you trying to kill your village? Maybe the loss of respect isn't as stupid as I thought!" Gaara stood up and threw his hand out toward Kankuro. The sand did not move. "This isn't just about the rumors," Gaara repeated, sliding back into his seat, looking defeated by the sand's failure to act on command. Kankuro nodded. "I'll inform the Ninja that war has been called," Kankuro muttered. He left silently to leave his brother to ponder.

Prologue Leaf Village One month after the start of the War..."What happened?" "I don't know! I was the one who was jumped!" Naruto replied weakly, lying in his hospital bed. Kakashi shook his head. "And you're positive it was Guy?" Naruto nodded. "He mentioned something about doing it for Lee..." "And where is Lee?" "From what I gather, he's been apprehended because of the mission I sent him on." Kakashi sighed. "So Guy tried to assassinate you because you were the reason Lee got caught?" "I don't think so..." Naruto countered. "I think Gaara exchanged my death for Lee's safe return. Man... After all I've done for that guy..." "You can't expect a leader of a Village to continue to be your friend during a war." Kakashi muttered. "So... What are your orders?" "Find Guy, bring him to me. I'll decide what to do with him after you catch him." "And Lee?" Kakashi asked. "Shouldn't we go and try to get him?" Naruto shook his head. "If we infiltrate the Village, we'll be charged for the first violent act of the war." "They attacked us first!" Kakashi snapped. "No, we sent a Peace Treaty and they intercepted it. It's now a foul ball. And the only attack we've gotten is one from our own ninja. It's fair game. Do NOT go after Lee!" "He'll die!" "One life is never more important than the mission in whole, Kakashi, you know that! Do as I say!" Kakashi nodded and stormed out, having no intention of leaving Lee to die in the Sand Village. (Note: If I use a character in the Prologue, I do NOT claim them for the RP! So all characters (unless posted in the Character Forum) are still opened!)

Other Information For the RP The Rain Village War Started by the Leaf Village because of a raid by the Rain Village that left half the Black Ops dead or seriously injured. The war officially ended three and a half years after the Leaf Village declared it. The fighting itself was only a few months of intense war while the rest was more tension . However, this war drained both the Rain and Leaf Village supplies because of the ninja forced to leave and the supplies forced to be shipped out to them. The war wasn't won by either side, both sides having to cause a stale mate because of the length of the war and the weariness of the ninja of each village and the strain on the village and supplies. After declaring peace, both the villages went into a state of recovery. This war was a year ago.

Ashes to ashes... Dusk to Dawn... War was a hard thing. It costs money, and lives. Sometime is can cost the survivors their sanity, if they're lucky. Having two wars in five years can never be good for the economy, or the people fighting in them. Or, at least, that was one ninja's opinion. That particular ninja took a deep breath as he used his silver gaze to scan the village below him. On the tower he now stood on, he could see most of the village. His dark red and white clothing was a large contrast to bright orange sky as the sun rose. As he released his breath, he jumped from the tower, landing lightly on a roof top far below him. He stayed crouched on the roof, his grey eyes the only thing that moved as he watched the streets below.

A young boy sitting on the roof looked up as the ninja landed nearby. The boy, dressed in a white T-shirt, white pants, white ninja shoes, and a white bucket hat that shadowed his blonde hair and blue eyes, was holding a mourning dove in his hands. The brown bird cooed softly in his hands, but squirmed in alarm when the ninja jumped down.
"Shh..." the boy said calmly. "It's okay." He trilled his tongue, mimicing the dove's coos. He looked back at the ninja. "Please don't scare my birds like that. They don't like it when you make sudden movements."

The ninja sighed deeply as he turned his gaze onto the young boy. His grey eyes stayed unblinking as he stared at the other ninja. He wasn't about to be ordered around by this child. He stood up. "My apologies," he snapped, his annoyance obvious in his voice. They were at WAR and this kid cared more about his birds. "But I'm just trying to do my service for this village. Shouldn't you be training or something?"
Outside the gates of the village and a few miles toward the desert walked a young girl. She seemed distressed and angry. "Ax... Can I talk to you? She had been thrilled that her mother had visited her. It didn't happen often. Even her "uncle" visited her more than her mother. "Kankuro isn't your father... Gaara is. She wasn't ready to believe that Gaara of the Sand was her father. Kankuro, by that point, had no choice but to tell her the truth. She left that night. They all insisted on lying to her. Gaara's daughter? THE Gaara! She wouldn't, couldn't, accept it.

"Well..." The boy stroked the dove gently. "It's a little early right now, isn't it...?" The dove cooed and made a mournful sound, the sound that earned its species its name. "That, and my cell probably wouldn't mind if I didn't show up, anyway. Except my sensei. He gets mad when I don't come."
Nearby the girl's position, a man lay by a smoldering fire. He was dressed in dark blue and white with the edges of his clothes frayed. His silver hair, just past shoulder length, was pulled back in a pony tail. In front of him was a pair of round-rimmed black glasses and a Sound village headband. His breathing was slow and regular; he was obviously still sleeping.

The ninja took a deep breath. "Whatever, kid," he muttered. He sat down. His thoughts were in the Sand village with the mention of cell mates. He remembered a time when he wouldn't care if one of his mates didn't show up. Now he might never see this mate again. Another deep sigh left the ninja as he stared out in the distance toward the Sand Village.
The girl continued walking. She didn't notice the man sleeping. Her thoughts were with her father and her uncle, or her fathers... Or her uncles... She shook her head. It was too confusing to comprehend. She did finally notice the man and only because she tripped over his sleeping form. Instantly she began cursing at the man without knowing if he was awake, telling him to watch where he was sleeping.

"My name's Seiko," the boy introduced. "Who're you?" Seiko was now smiling brightly, as if he had completely forgotten about his uncaring cell mates.
The man woke and gasped, startled. He immediately grabbed for his glasses, threw them on, and scrambled up into a defensive pose. He relaxed some when he saw the girl, but kept his stance.
"What are you doing here?" he asked cautiously. "Aside from stepping on me?"

The ninja sighed. "Neji Hyuuga," he said quietly. "You are quite happy for us being in a war." He didn't even turn his gaze to the boy. He was still thinking of the other boy. It wasn't like they were friends or anything, but with TenTen living happily in a different village, Lee captured and Guy off the deep end, Neji was the last of his cell left, and the bird had never felt so alone.
The girl rolled away from him, glaring angrily. "My name is Axnyu," she said, standing up as well. "And who are you, mister I-Can-Sleep-Where-Ever-I-Want-'Cause-I-Apperently-Rule-The-World!"
