I've only read the mangas and I was interested in the anime, so can some people tell me about the wonders of the anime and the differences between it and the manga?

i like the books, and the anime, but if you don't have time to read like me, then get the anime so you can at least listen to it. which is alot eaiser then reading if you don't have time.

It is based on "Journey to the West" but Minekura has added to many twists to it. *tail curls Fangirls can't fight its power!

I like the manga better but the anime is my second favorite. The ones by ADV are awsome. You would probably like the anime. There aren't that many differences...

One warning if you go to get the manga...the Merciful Goddess may be 'merciful', but she ain't modest, just as a warning if that bugs you.

Lol. I've already read most of the mangas that are out here, I just haven't seen the wonders of the anime yet.

the anime is really good. i've barely read the first manga 'cause i've just been busy and always tired so i just resorted to the anime. It's not bad though. Once you get through some awkward close-ups (Sanzo gets it a lot which annoys me so) in the first few episodes, tbey're really not bad at all. I fully recommend getting the double barrel edition just for the sake of it being much cheaper than getting the regular dvd. The double barrel's are basically two dvd's in almost the same price. I think that's very attractive to stingy anime buyers like me. blaugh anyway, i can't really say if there are any plot differences to the manga because as i've said before, i haven't even read the first one yet (le gasp!). which by the way, makes me really sad. *sighs deeply then resolves to read them all... someday*

Saiyuki is one of the few series that is awesome as both a manga and an anime...overall the anime follows the same plot lines, but the art style is a little different (there's less detail and the bright colors make it seem really different after seeing all the pretty black and whites...) the face shapes seem to fluxuate between the parts some, but otherwise...well...the anime and manga are really similar. They take more detours in the anime before they get to reload and they expand on parts more...that and Kougaiji isn't turned into a robot....poor Kougaiji....
