"Augh!"

Kashi was pissed. What the hell was it with males? They always seemed to think that they owned everything that breathed. Not even that, but everything that they saw~! Ugh!

She had stomped around for a little while, but after most of the anger had escaped her she was merely filled with the fact that she didn't have anyone directly to be angry at. No, it was merely probably part of the void that was just there, as much as a misunderstanding. Akasha was headstrong, and believed in the first thing that came to her mind, and never doubted any of her beliefs. And that was the most frusterating part of all.

Exhausted and frusterated, she flopped right where she was, in the middle of no where, and let her mind slow down. She needed a break from all these crazy emotions.

Kiju was in a great mood today - everything seemed to be going well. He wasn't hungry (for once), his mane was a little less tangled and dull than last week, and he'd finally wandered into an area with a LITTLE bit more life.

What more could you ask for?

... well, maybe some good company, but not much else! Humming quietly to himself, Kiju send a wordless thanks to the wind goddess and her familiar. It really WAS better off in this direction, and hopefully soon he'd meet that pride they'd told him about. The lion took a deep breath and gave a sigh that could have been from relief.

Maybe he would be alright on his own, afterall!

His gaze cast to the sky and the distant mountains, Kiju almost missed the blue and black lioness lying on the ground. It was only her color, so bright and out of place in this land, that caught his attention. Company! The lion couldn't keep the grin off his face. Maybe she even knew where a pride was nearby.

Gleeful, the male trotted over to Akasha and plopped down nearby.

"Hi!" He probably wouldn't have cared if he knew how dopey he sounded, or how silly the smile looked stretching across his face.

Akasha didn't realize that there was a male next to her until she heard the bright 'hello'. Bright? What was so bright about today? She sneered at him, "What do you want?" Males, they were all the same! He probably was hungry and wanted food. And while she had never actually seen a male do that, it still seemed like something natural in her mind.

Her tail lashed behind her as she took another look at him. Her sneer had disappeared as quickly as it had appeared, but she still didn't look too content. She shifted around a bit, unsure if she should just walk off or at least create a little more space between the two of them. In fact....she had no idea what to do, besides her little rude comment she had offered him.

Kiju blinked, taken aback by both her tone and question.

What did he want? Well, there was PLENTY he wanted, but he didn't expect this girl to give it to him! She didn't look like she had much to give, anyways. In his eyes her sneer was a little less 'you're-an-idiot' and a little more 'returning-the-offered-smile'.

But then again, she didn't sound very happy to see him...

Still a bit uncertain, Kiju decided it would be best to just be nice. After all, wasn't that what his mother had taught him? Everyone was nice inside, it just took a bit to get it out sometimes. Besides, he was kind of bad at being mean - he just didn't seem to have it in him.

"I don't want anything! Unless you wanted to give me advice?" He inquired cheerfully. "Do you know where a pride is nearby, maybe?"

Akasha's eyes narrowed as she looked again at the male, but in a different light. Was he just stupid? Or did he really want to try and break past her shell and talk? Well....hah! Good luck to him, it was really hard to get anything good out of Kashi, and she was proud of that fact.

"Advice? Hah! I'll say this is the first time any male has bothered talking to me, let alone asking for advice." She let herself fall silent, but she didn't do it out of spite. She was genuinely curious on what he was going to ask.

Once it came, though, it felt like a letdown. A pride? What was so great about prides? Even after talking with Fira, prides still didn't seem like a smart idea. Maybe he really was an idiot.

"A pride? If you keep going the way you're facing, you'll run into the stupid Pridelands. If you go to the west of that, just a bit, I hear there's prides over there, but I don't know there names." She waved a paw about, "I never bothered to go over there too much."
PostPosted: Thu Feb 21, 2008 7:46 pm

"First time... you've only talked to girls? What about your dad?"

Kiju didn't stop to think that he was prying, and certainly didn't give any thought to the idea of 'shells' or the process of 'breaking past' them. He was merely curious, and when that happened, well... lions nearby were hopefully willing to answer all his questions! Kiju certainly knew how to ask them.

Her comment about the 'stupid' pride caught his attention and drew it away from the issue of males. Prides weren't stupid! They were wonderful and safe, nice and friendly and beautiful and --!

Well, Kiju was surprised he'd made it this far without one.

"Ah, so, um..." His ears flickered back, then forwards again. Maybe he should make sure that this 'pridelands' wasn't a bad place to go. She seemed awfully upset about it! "Are the pridelands really stupid? Did you live there? What was it like?"

"Ugh! Am I ever glad I don't live there! I was born just outside of the lands, so I would visit there a lot when I was a cub. They're mean there, or well, they think they are. They're really just a big group of weak lions who mooch off one another." She didn't completely understand what she was talking about, but in her mind it was all justified.

"And my dad? Pah! He took my brother and disappeared. Little.." she bagan to swear under her breath, obviously highly irritated by that. A piece of her missed her brother, even if it seemed like they just challenged each other about every little thing.

"But back to those prides. I haven't found one strong pride, I think you're better off on your own."
PostPosted: Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:20 pm

"Oh..." Kiju's ears flattened against his head, and his posture visibly drooped. Maybe he was wrong about prides, maybe they really were bad. The utopia in his mind faded a bit despite his hopes, and he was terribly reluctant to let the image of a perfect land fade from his mind.

"Are you sure it's that bad? I lived in a pride a long time ago, one by the sea." Kiju smiled in memory, perking back up a bit. "It was nice, and the lions were friendly, and we all took care of each other." Well... "Actually, they took care of me and my sisters, 'cuz we were cubs then."

He remembered playing in the surf and eating fish, and meeting that lion Juke who liked to listen to the earth's song, and... so much more.

His thoughts drifted to his mother and he sighed.

"You're alone, then?" Personally, he didn't think HE was better off alone (he was surprised he'd lasted this long) but maybe she was alright without a pride. She looked okay, if a little young. "What about your mom? Don't you miss her?

Kashi couldn't help but shiver. The idea of being all cuddly and fluffy and friendly and stuff....just completely creeped her out. So the idea that his lion had been in a pride, left it, and then wanted to return to one was just crazy. Crazy!

"Fine. I'll just say that prides aren't my thing."

ANother long pause.

"I still live at home...kind of. I wander away for a couple days, then go back home for a couple days. I don't know if I could leave my mother yet, really." She did love her mother...and deep down inside (somewhere), she loved her sisters.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:53 pm

Kiju was completely oblivious to her disgust at his shared memories. After all, none of it seemed terrible to him - quite the opposite, indeed. He did, however, notice her shiver and wondered absently if she was cold or sick. The temperature seemed downright scorching to him today!

He was about to say something to that affect when the lioness spoke up. Well... the purple and brown lion supposed that everyone had their likes and dislikes. To each their own, right?

Still, it seemed kinda strange to forsake love, comfort, food, and shelter all for...

For what? Loneliness and hunger? Kiju shook his head. It was crazy!

"Oh! So you still live there, and you know how to get there from here?" This was wonderful news! Finally he had a link to a pride, a real solid was of getting there. "Do you... well, do you think you could take me there? When you go and visit your mom, I mean." Kiju knew himself well, and chances were he'd get lost if he set off on his own.

Akasha sighed. What was she now? A guide for the lost? She took a moment to think about it. Should she go home now? She had been gone for a couple days, trying to clear her head from her frustrations again. Maybe she should go home, talk to her mother a bit to clear her head.

Ohhh, hell.

"Fine! Fine, I can take you there," she replied, pulling herself up off of the ground. "It'll take a little less than a day to get there," she warned. Hopefully he wouldn't assume that they could just...well, fly there or something! "I don't mind, I'm sure my mother would be sickly humored if she saw me with a male."
PostPosted: Thu Feb 21, 2008 9:29 pm

"Really?" Most of him had been ready for a 'I'm busy' or a 'I don't want a tag along' or a flat out 'no'. What perfect timing, that she was ready to leave now! His luck was turning, for sure. Kiju couldn't help but grin, and his tail twitched in excitement.

Maybe... maybe this could be his new home!

"Oh, that's it? A day isn't that long!" After all, he'd been wandering for months. What was another day? Kuji lept lightly to his feet and stood patiently waiting for her. Well... patient on the outside, anyways. The sooner they got there the better! "Thank you so much..."

...Oh dear. He hadn't even introduced himself! What would his mother say?

"I'm Kijuvo, but you can call me Kiju!" He beamed at her, and was about to ask her her name (as was only polite) when her last comment really sank in. He stuttered into silence, his face (under his fur) a bright red. "But we're not, I mean, that's not how it is, and we'll tell her right away. I just need help, and you're here..."

Kiju smiled sheepishly. "I just want to find a home!"

Akasha raised an eyebrow. "Well, she's certainly get a chuckle from it, and from you, I'd think." Her tail swayed behind her as she took a few steps forward, looking out towards where they were going to trek. She stood perpendicular to him, only turning her head to glance at him with a wry smile.

"Name's Akasha. Ready to head out?"

She didn't want to wait, but she wasn't going to yank him away if there was something he needed to grab (hopefully not a someone, though!). Besides, she wasn't in a huge rush herself, but she had a hunch that he might be.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 21, 2008 9:47 pm

... a chuckle from him? What was THAT supposed to mean, anyways? He supposed he didn't mind it too much, since he was making another lion (or in this case lioness) laugh, but he'd prefer to be in on the joke and not THE joke.

"Akasha." Kiju trotted happily forwards. "That's a nice name! It's nice to meet you!"

Very nice, and very fortunate! He couldn't believe his luck. He wasn't, however, about to push it, so he was quick to nod in assent at her question. "All set, leader!"

He hadn't felt this giddy since he was a cub playing in the surf! What a wonderful feeling - and he'd almost forgotten it. That would change, for sure! Unconsciously he started humming again, a nonsensical tune that beat in time to his paw steps.

At last he was getting somewhere!

Akasha tried to keep that wry smile for him, but as soon as she turned her head to start leading the pathway towards the Pridelands, she couldn't help but roll her eyes. What the hell? Was he like...some sort of cub that was stuck inside an adult's body? She honestly couldn't understand just why he was so happy, and that humming. Hopefully he wasn't going to do that the whole time, or else she was going to be sorely tempted to wring his neck if he didn't stop.

This was going to be a very long trip. Hopefully it wouldn't be a loud one.

But...why did so many little things bother her so much? She couldn't quite pick it out, so she'd worry about it later, when she could either ask her mother, or try to figure it out on her own.
