Since I enjoy history-and nonlocal goings on, I have contemplated a weekly...report if you would. Since no one has anything to talk about (and yes, this includes me) unless it's

A. Themselves
B. A New or Holiday Event
C. A What's Up? or How Are You?

So, I will update this post weekly [Hopefully] so you can be given SOMETHING to talk about. (Thus establishing a basis of talking about something, thus keeping this forum running for as long as it can.)

Chatter is good. 3nodding

If you want to post...go right ahead. Try not to choose politically slanted, or religiously slanted debates.

Topic #1: Europe's newest country: Kosovo...Serbia is officially split.

"Across Switzerland, which in 2005 became the first state worldwide to call for formal independence, thousands of Kosovars celebrated the birth of the world's newest country on (last) Sunday afternoon by driving through towns and waving flags." Link: A

Uh oh guys-Your world maps need to be changed, and are officially obsolete! whee

"Serbia vows to never give up this territory."

Why is this significant? As we all know, WW1 was partially caused by Serbia's involvement of the training of a terrorist organization called: The Black Hand (which eventually assassinated an Archduke and sent Europe into modern warfare with each other)

Today, Serbia is backed by Communist Russia, and furthermore our economic-power rival: China. (I'm looking at you, Former Soviet Union.)

Kosovo split officially after fighting a "war of liberation from 1998-9" (Against Serbia) and is now officially independent, and "backed by Switzerland, and Nato peacekeeping forces (by default)-who will stay there until 2011."

Spoonfeed:
-Is this a good idea(to you in general)?
- 3nodding Could this start another World War?
-Would you support another war if America decides to pick sides?
-Do you even care? neutral

Weird.

It had better not start another WW. And if it did I would not support the war.

Topic #2: Canada officially ticks off the American Military.

"^U.S. soldiers who have deserted the military because of the war in Iraq should be allowed to stay permanently in Canada^, the House of Commons voted in a non-binding motion on Tuesday. Link: B

I'm no fan of the Bush Administration, but with this news at least I know where to go when the draft is re-instated.

"Canada was a haven for tens of thousands of draft dodgers during the Vietnam War and has attracted an estimated 175 to 200 Americans who are resisting the Iraq conflict."

175 to 200...surprisingly small numbers, at least in terms of the war unpopularity.

"The minority Conservative government opposes the idea, arguing that, unlike during the Vietnam War, the current U.S. military is composed of volunteers, and also that Washington allows people to apply for conscientious objector status."

Ok, that being said, I think we all know, if you don't think you can handle the scorching heat of the desert sun, then for god sake, don't just grab a bottle of sunblock and go anyway.

Spoonfeed:
-Your take on the war in Iraq.
-Your take on military desertion (in general).
- confused Was this a good decision on Canada's Part?
- sweatdrop Is there a hippie or two in the audience?

Topic #3: Explore this, Sucker!: Microsoft officially becomes Firefox's &$#@.

“I mean, why bother? Firefox 3 has the ‘AwesomeBar,’ you can’t seriously expect to compete with that, can you?” Link: C

rofl rofl rofl rofl Steve, you are my new hero.

"Steve Ballmer announced early Monday that Microsoft would be halting development on Internet Explorer 8 and focusing the company’s efforts on Firefox 3."

n_n Aren't we all excited now? It's out June 17th you know...KE-RIPES! That's tomorrow!!

"The programmers working on Internet Explorer 8 were excited. “I can’t wait to stop working on IE8, %$#@ing thing sucks. Most people around here already use Firefox anyway and are sick of doing it Live,” said browser programming team leader William Reily."

O_O; If it's own programmers hate it's creation-doesn't that technically make it screwed?

Spoonfeed:
-Are you a FF user, and are you happy with it?
-Are you going to be downloading it-to make a World Record-Tomorrow?
-Are you surprised about the language in this post?
- blaugh Are you freaking as stoked about this as I am?!
