So, another Anlach has passed and the Firebringer herd has once again been blessed with copious Brychan-spawn. BP would really like to see these girls role played once in a while, so it was decided that a role play contest would be the best way to give the girls away. Yay! There is no fee for entering or for winning. You can enter once per fawn, but you can only win ONE fawn.

You have permission to use the parents for the prompt response. But, please keep their personalities in mind: none of these parents are abusive to their offspring. They will not simply abandon them in the forest or anything like that. I won’t say that they are perfect parents, but they certainly try harder than that.

This contest will start on February 21 at 12:00 am and ends on February 28 at 12:00 pm. These times are in PST, by the way. There is no length limit on the prompt response.

To enter the contest, simply fill out this form:

Quote:

Your Username: … kinda explains itself, doesn’t it?
Which fawn you’re trying for: Fawn One, Two, or Three?
Which prompt you’re using: Again, self-explanatory.
A bit of personality: What does your girl act like? Who is she? That sort of thing. Remember, these girls are daughters of the Lord of the Herd; how does that affect her?

Prompt Response: Self-explanatory.

Brychan x Siani

The first batch are from Brychan and Siani. Brychan is the Lord of the Firebringer herd.

Brychan is an extremely ambitious stag. Before becoming Lord, he served as Captain under the previous Lord, Fell Lore. Patient and kind, he attempts to pay attention to all of his offspring, although that gets more difficult every Anlach, seeing as there are so many of them. He can tolerate almost anything, except for threats to his herd. That is something he takes very, very seriously. Really. Don’t threaten his herd. Ever. More than anything, he enjoys spending time with his family.

Siani is one of the lower hinds in Brychan’s harem. In fact, she sort of gets bullied around by the favorite. Extremely submissive and quiet, she is easy to miss, despite her striking looks. Last Anlach, she unfortunately suffered through a stillbirth. This is her first life birth, leaving her slightly flustered since she now has to deal with three babies.

If you’re curious, here’s a picture of their brother, who is NOT involved in the contest.

Quote:

Prompt One: Your mother, Siani, is overwhelmed by motherhood! Well… sort of… in all honesty, it’s your brother. He’s wandered off a bit and your mother has gone off to search for him. For you and your sister, this means that you’re not being watched… this is the first time that your mother has ever taken her eyes off of you. What happens? Do you go and explore completely new territory? Or do you stay and try to get to know the older territory first?

Prompt Two: You’re slightly older now, growing up quickly into a fine young doe. Eventually, you start attracting the attention of the young bucks! You go, girl. Do you enjoy this newfound attention or do you resent it? Do you even notice it?

Prompt Three: Open prompt! Impress BP. Be creative.

Brychan x Telyn
The mother of this little girl is Telyn, Brychan’s favorite hind. She’s an intelligent girl who, never the less, manages to miss her own hypocrisy. Telyn is rather arrogant and outspoken, a real rebel of a hind. Or that’s how she thinks of herself, anyway. When she was younger, she dreamed of joining the Outriders. While she now understands that having an Outrider hind would only slow the stags down, she spends her time training her children, making sure that they can at least hold their own against predators long enough to let the Outriders come to the rescue. This is her third pregnancy, bringing her up to a grand total of eight children. More than anything, she enjoys telling stories to her young.

Last Anlach, when she had four babies and Siani miscarried, she strong-armed the submissive hind into helping her feed her own babies. Just so you can have a bit of an idea of the relationship between Telyn and Siani.

Hint: For the personality section, I’m really interested in how this fawn reacts to other family members. Does she try and make herself stand out from them, or does she just want to blend in?

Fawn Three
User Image

Again, if you’re curious, here’s a picture of her brother. One of them anyway… He’s not involved in the contest either. He’s mine!

Quote:

Prompt One: All your life, your mother has impressed on you the importance of knowing that rogues are bad. Unfortunately, she’s been rather vague on explaining exactly why they are bad… one day, while exploring the outskirts of Firebringer territory, you come across a young calf about your age. After talking to him for a while, you learn that he’s a rogue! How do you react?

Prompt Two: You’re slightly older now, growing up quickly into a fine young doe. Eventually, you start attracting the attention of the young bucks! You go, girl. Do you enjoy this newfound attention or do you resent it? Do you even notice it?

Prompt Three: Open prompt! Impress Ferret and BP. Be creative.

A bit of personality:

Adalae knows she's beautiful. She carries her head high, and likes to flaunt herself off while parading around the other fawns, does, and bucks. Strangely.. The adults really like her, and seem to wish their own daughters acted like she does. They dont see the other side to miss Addie. She's kind, no matter how pompous she is. She gets the softer side from her mother. Her sense of beauty being given to her by her father.

Addie has an extreme sense of adventure, and likes to take off whenever she gets the chance. She'll get into some trouble, maybe run for her life, but she will always come back home. She has it too good there.

Prompt Response:

The now older fawn, had begun to see the world with different eyes. She was beginning to see the truth of why there were does and bucks.. She had met many bucks, and none had stirred her fancy.

She was a princess! Why was she the one having to turn the others down? She should have someone do that for her. She despised the young bucks that came to visit her.. Bringing her gifts of sweet flowers and bark. Surely they didnt expect gifts to bring her to them.

"Piff.." She snorted, looking about the area at all the y oung lovers. Simpletons. They'd never amount to anything it seemed. They'd fall in love and make more fawns.. More ugly spoil faced fawns that would flock to her in all her beauty, and by that time, wisdom.

Her dark masked face carried a scowl, her eyes dissapproving and proud. She liked how she had remained away from bucks all this time. Truth was, there were no good looking young bucks these days. She needed a prince of a buck. Someone who would come and sweep her off her feet.

She looked dreamy as she thought of the kind of buck that should win her heart. Her body lying in the shade of some nearby trees, as she sat, observing the antics.

As a new buck approached her, his antlers not even fully developed as he came towards her, she scowled again.
Surely her father, the LORD of the herd, would save her from mating to a undeserving buck.. Bucks were dumb these days, with the only exception of her father. Even her brother was one of those stupid bucks looking for love.

She had almost forgotten of the new buck as he approched, but when he cleared his throat, her icy looking eyes glanced up at him coldly.

"I..I..B-Brought you a f-flower, miss Adalae.."
He said, his head hanging low, the flower small in between his teeth. His pelt was a rusted grey, his eyes a curious but carrying the look of a lesser. His ears were against his head, as he feared the kind of retalliation from the young doe of his dreams.

"Do tell me you aren't talking to me." She said, eyes just as icy and cold as when she'd first seen him.
"I'd prefer if you didn't speak to me as if you knew me."

She looked away, watching the others run around and play with each other again. But as soon as her mind started giving her more thoughts to how she hated the breeding time, the buck spoke again.
Her blood boiled as he continued to give her the flower. A measly little daisy.. Her sister may have liked that, be she sure as hell didnt.
"A weed? You show your love with weeds? Get out of my sight."
She demanded again, almost offended by the 'weed'. It wasn't sweet grass or bark like the others had brought... What had possessed him to bring such nonsense?

He sighed, casting one last look back, and she ignored him, casting her own eyes back to the others.
Back to buisness.

Which fawn you’re trying for: Fawn Two
Which prompt you’re using: Prompt 1.
A bit of personality:
Unlike her extremely rude, and pompous sister, Rhen is soft and kind. Her heart is a weak one, and she has issues when she runs or plays. She is somewhat sickly, though she is strong enough to carry her life. She follows after her mother, as shes almost completely submissive. She despises arguments, though it seems she will hide from them before confronting any of her issues. She is reclusive, and prefers to be by herself, even from her family. She likes the sweet grasses, and she adores the stories that she hears from others of her herd.
She is the Lord's daughter, but she lacks the strength given in his genes, and is meek and naieve. She generally tends to have no friends, and no one really goes out of their way to accept her. She is like the outcast.

Prompt Response:

Damn your brother! He's run off again, and this time its fully time that he just start paying attention to rules. Come on! How old was he again?
Rhen shook her head, her ivory pelt catching the suns rays as she lay under a tree. Her favorite tree, she might add. The sun was so warm today, and it peered through the branches, touching her pelt, and making her eyes sparkle.

Her sister, she noted as she turned her head slightly, was preening in the reflection of the water. The little river that flowed by Rhen's favorite tree, was combat territory for the two fawns.. Her sister would fight her for the water's banks, and Rhen was usually sent running if she came too close to her sisters side of the bank.

Her sister was so rude.. She didn't quite understand what was wrong with Adalae.. Or her brother for that matter. Her mother gave them a good life, why would they want to make life so hard?
Wasn't like they were sick or anything.. Maybe that was the difference.

The beautiful one, that she called mother came to her, giving her nose a gentle nuzzle.

"Little ones, I must be off to find your brother. Do not leave. Stay right here, and I'll be right back I promise."
She raised her head from Rhen's, and cast a look to the other fawn by the water.
"That means you. Watch your sister Adalae.."
With that, Siani was off, racing into the deeper part of the forest to catch up to their brother again...

Adalae scoffed at her mothers words and looked back at her sister.
"You can take care of yourself right?" She asked, looking as if having to watch her sister was an insult. She was always so stuck up.. Rhen was sure it had something to do with Brychan and his lord status that gave Addie her issues..

"Y-yes." Came the little ivory and chocolate colored female's reply. Her eyes glaring at her sister, but her face looking back to the ground. She loved her family.. Really she did.. But there was such thing as too much family.

"Good. Because I got better things to do than watch over a handicap."
And then she shook her head, and dissappeared around the bank of the river and off.

Rhen shivered, her dark eyes looking around her. Her mother wouldn't be gone long, she hoped.. and her sister was a lost cause..

She shivered again, and placed her head upon the earth.
She wouldn't go anywhere without momma.. Anywhere.

A bit of personality:

Geheim [meaning Secret] keeps to herself, and is the very logical one of the family. Instead of playing games and being a normal fawn, Geheim prefers the silence of a meadow with a warm beaming sun. She loves her family, and seems to get along with them well.. But where they are doesnt mean she will be there. She prefers to be off on her own, and tends to explore life, rather than become the daughter that she should be. Her heart lies in exploration, and if she could, she'd explore the world. But her father has maintained how important a herd is, and therefore changed her mind. She stays with the herd, and is an important part. But she enjoys the simple things in life, over the material things that others value.

Prompt response:

"Pish posh." She grumbled, her head hanging low, and her hooves and legs carrying her further on. Oh how mother would be mad.. She wasn't supposed to be this far. But the call of the wild was getting to her,and she felt she had to go on.

Her grey body, with the darkened dapples, seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. She never blended in with the scenery. She hated that.. But niether did either of her parents, so she tried not to hold the idea in too high a regrard.

A small golden butterfly, fluttered past her nose as she thought, and she watched it with wide sparkling eyes and a grand smile plastered on her face.

"You're beautiful!" She said to it softly, as she wasn't sure if exclaiming it would hurt the butterflys ears.. Did butterflies have ears?.. She would have to ask mother later. She had plenty of time.. She'd be in dire trouble when she returned.. Possibly even grounded.

The butterfly dove past some rather prickly looking bushes, and she didnt give it a second thought, she was following closely behind.

"Wait! Wait! I just wanna look at you!" She called to it.

But the voice that returned her call made her stop and give wide eyes. Her ears erect, and looking very much like a deer in headlights.

"Whatcha wanna look at me fer?"

She shook her head. Had she really heard the butterfly speak?
"Wait! You can talk?!" She asked, watching it flutter away.

"Course I kin.. Why would I not be able ta talk?" The calf asked as he emerged from the trees that he had apparently been munching in.

She backed away quickly, running her tail end into a tree that was behind her.

"Who are you?" She asked, and she cocked her eyes narrowing her head.
"And why do you talk funny?"

"I dont talk funny! You talk funny.." He said, looking offended and shaking his head.

"Girls are so dumb.."

She glared and shook her head.

"We are not!" How dare he?! "Do you know who I am? I am the daughter of the Lord of the herd. He'll deal with you parents if you arent nice."
She had used the status card.. Oh dear she'd never done that before.

"What's a Lerd of the Herd?" He asked, giving a quizzical expression.

"Why dont you know what a herd is?!" She exclaimed, giving more wide eyes and feeling absolutely confused.

"No.. Why would I ker?" He asked, continuing his chewing.

"Oh my gosh!? You're a rogue?!" She said, curiousity dwelling in her bones and wanting to ask all sorts of questions.. But then she remembered her mother had been very adamant about Rogues being bad, dangerous.. and things to fear.

"Well Duh'r.. You really are dumb.."

Well that was it. She cursed the little calf, her little features forming an angry face as she lashed her words back.

"I am not! You- You.. Stupid Rogue!"
She said, a nd turned her body, f licking her tail.

"I know why my momma doesnt like you now."

And with that, she turned her body, to dash back home and tell her momma on the calf.

A bit of personality: Aenya has a pretty bad anxiety problem, and a bit of a self-esteem issue. She's likely to veiw things in terms of 'worst case senario'. Somewhat prone to freaking out.

Prompt Response:

With a groan, the doe belly-flopped into the tall grass. Maybe she would be safe here. "Aughh!" Aenya let out a dispairing wail, "Too...many...males!"

Up untill now, she'd actually enjoyed their company. Now- well, now -They'd stopped seeing her as Aenya. They grew hardened antlers and she grew out of her downy fawn coat. With her newfound slender legs and delicate, curving form; it had hit them like a boulder to the head! Oh my Herne! She was a female!
Yeah, well, duh. She could have told them that. Why the sudden change in behavior? And more importantly, what was she suppossed to do about it? Should she accept their cowslips and sweet grasses? Or did that make her indebted to them? Was it some twisted quid pro quo system? I give you these bunch of berries and you let me claim you at Anlatch?
And what about Anlatch anyway? Aenya wasn't attracted to any of these bucks. Would Anlatch suddenly drug her up? Make her fall head over heels for the most powerful stag and then holy rabbits! I'm pregnant! She whimpered at the thought.
Ugh, harems. She'd forgotten about harems! Could she share the love of her life with a bunch of other hinds? And what about favorites? What if she wasn't his favorite? How could she compete with other, and probebly better, hinds for his affections?

There were noises not too far away from her, she pricked her ears.
"Aaaaaaaaaaenyaaaaaaaah! Hey Aaaaaaaenyaaaaaaah!"
"Come on out, I've got something for you!"
"Have you seen her? Where could she be?"
Oh Herne, there must be a small herd of them! Aenya lay her head on her hooves and choked back a scream of frusteration.

Which fawn you’re trying for: Three
Which prompt you’re using: #1
A bit of personality: The name Syntyche, an Ancient Greek name meaning “common fate” also used for Biblical reference, does a wonderful job of contrasting against the youth’s vigilant bright essence and eagerness to prove herself different from her siblings and more importantly her mother. Syn, as she likes to be referred to as, is quite reserved when it comes to communication issues and generally expressing herself and her opinion. Though it is kept quiet, on the inside she is very intellectual which possesses a deep wisdom that could potentially one day earn her a seat as a graceful judicious story teller if it is her wish to jump free from her detached nature. Many of her older siblings take a deep pride in being the Lord’s spawn, but Syn views it as nothing more than trivial rank and considers the rocks beneath the top of the mountain far more a precious thing. Without them they would surely crumble. Naturally she views herself at the same level as other deer’s offspring nor would she ever have them treat her any different. Equality is something she strongly believes in.

Though Syntyche is quiet when it comes to speaking with others of her own, she is very outgoing when it comes to the natural world. Unlike humans who fear the state of nature, she revels in the little trickling streams, vast downs and rolling green fields the island offers. It is in her spirit to explore. There is no love greater that to feel the rush of the wind dance alongside her pounding body, nor is there any greater experience than the glittering splash of water landing within a glorious spring creek. This, at least, is what she loves most; this love dictates her, and moves through her. Though she has never thought of it until recently, the intuitive fawn has considered leaving the herd once old enough. The life of a rouge, though dangerous, is quite tempting and prompts her wants. The idea of freedom burns through her veins like a fish swims through the ocean. It is one with her as she is with nature.

Prompt Response:
(For rp purposes, instead of meeting with a calf, I’ll have her meet with my fawn Órfhlaith who acts enough like a boy anyway XD)

Spring’s breath was approaching fast in the form of trickles of snow instead of piles of bedding laid down snuggly across the Scottish isles which created a crisp clean sense that was dwindling into the smell of something sweeter. The patches left behind were breathed life into with the last flurries of the season, leaving only fountains of sparkling waters in their wake, or little trickling streams which fed into larger bodies of swiftly moving water. There were various places spotted across the old grasses the starting of baby growths feeding through the juicy dying snow in order to grow further. Flowers sprouted in bouts of pink and violet reminding a little creature of something unnatural but oh so glorious. They were amethysts among emeralds; a perfect contrast in absolute harmony which she reveled in with her youth guiding her.

Her dark eyes, oh so different from the lucid blues of most of her siblings (at least from her mother’s womb), glanced out over the pasture lazily with a thin twinkle glimmering within them. A gentle grin graced her maw. Chirping echoed in the short distance while the fluttering of chasing birds above serenaded her. There was no other word to describe it but gorgeous. Maybe even…paradise? No, it wasn’t paradise, but it certainly was a blessed little land. It had every ecological feature a deer needed to survive and it was also home to one of the largest herds in all of northern Britain. Protection was vital to the youth who was just experiencing her first spring.

Protection, however, as not something she necessarily craved. She accepted it as a means of survival, but something within her longed for a freedom she could only find outside of a herd and outside of the area itself. To flow like the rivers, fly like the eagle and swim free like the fish of the see was what she longed for instead of being expected to keep up with a herd’s customs. And being a hind she was limited as to what she could do.

A sigh escaped her as she shifted her weight, pulling her thin spindly legs forward into a far more comfortable position within the soft baby grass sprouting about her. Shade from a rather large oak sprawled out above the fawn in pools of dark hues and bright lights where the sun seeped between the branches. To her left trickled a slow spring wakened by the melting winter’s hot breath. It was peaceful here…but…boring. She wanted to see more of the world and other wonder’s it offered her. Even though she loved her home dearly as well as the many siblings she shared, and of course her parents, she wanted to experience more -- something further, something…

She didn’t know the answer to her own longings. But it seemed someone else did.

“Boo!” a shrill young voice called from directly behind her, only right behind the pound of small hooves upon the soft ground. Immediately the Lord’s daughter scrambled to her feet, fleeting up with her ears pulled back and a wide expression expecting a much larger creature to be standing behind in a looming position ready to strike. Instead a blond creature stood there with a childish grin across her maw which seeped loud bouts of giggles obviously enthralled with the reaction.

“Oh, that was priceless!” she laughed. Her heels kicked up with her blue eyes ablaze. Having never seen this fawn before, Syntyche felt the fur about her neck rise in observation, wary, but not judgmental toward the stranger. Was this girl a rogue? It was true she had never seen her before within the herd, but maybe they had just joined? That didn’t seem likely. Within her ears she could hear the harsh words of her mother who outwardly spoke against the homeless creatures who purposefully chose not to follow into a herd and her mother, being the head mistress of the Lord certainly had to be taken seriously. But why? What was so wrong with them? Maybe now she would have the chance to find out.

“Umm…excuse me, but who are you? Are you new in the herd? I’ve never seen you before,” she said quietly, not feeling the need to raise her voice nor did she feel it was in her. Socially awkward was a simple way of stating what she was, but that didn’t stop her from asking her questions.

The female paused, blinking before she raised her head proudly, flashing her blue eyes once more.
“Nope, I’m not part of any herd. My mother is a rogue and so am I! But I want to start a herd of my own…wanna join? I’m looking for some does that are willing.”

The silver fawn blinked taken aback by the quickness and downright…forward nature of her request. To the Lord’s daughter, it sounded more like the female thought herself to not only be an adult but a stag as well. What was going through her head? But at least she got her answer. The fawn was a rogue! Syn was taught to present herself highly, however, she didn’t much do as she was always told and instead of introducing herself in a courtly manor she instead played this out like any usual fawn.

“Uh…well…I can’t I don’t think. I would have to get my mother’s permission first and I know she’d say no. But…urm…I never got your name. I’m Syntyche.” She left out the formal introduction, ‘Syntyche, daughter of Telyn and the Lord of the herd, Brychan.’

The blond paused, losing her smile before regaining it.
“I’m Órfhlaith or Laith for short. I prefer Laith actually. Anywho, so you can’t join?”

“No…aren’t you a little young Laith to start a herd?” Syn responded in a calm voice, not at all sharp or judgmental. Just curious.

“Maybe?” her eyes swiveled this way and that like a deviant trying not to look inconspicuous but made herself look even more the target, “But after I’m older I swear I’ll start my own herd. You just watch. Maybe then you can join, huh?” Her ears pulled forward giving her an adorable innocent expression while her tail flicked back and forth.

For a moment Syn thought and contemplated the suggestion. It seemed perfect, she did want to get out, but was this really going to pull through or was this just the fleeting dreams of a child who didn’t know what the real world was all about? Coming to her conclusion, Syntyche found it was both, yes both and only someone with the willingness and a crazy scheme to go along with it could pull it off successfully. Maybe this stranger could actually manage it.

“Maybe that would be fun.”

Thoughts of the future were certainly something she lingered upon often but now all she could focus on was the present with the strange new fellow she had just met. Maybe this was the building of a greater future that she could have perceived and the start of a free life she longed for even at such young an age. All the same, only time would tell. Even though her teachings spoke otherwise it was still in her nature to long for the bliss of liberty that graced her at every corner. Now all she needed to do was reach forward herself and pick the fruits from the tree.

A bit of personality: This fawn, by the name of Naira; meaning ‘large eyes’ for her quiet but constantly curious nature as a youngster always studying the world, is something of a lost one. As much as she excepts her lofty place because of her family line she doesn’t take much stock in it as a means of self worth. She’s more prone to sudden races with the wind, watching the skyline all day and playing games with the birds and whomever else will keep her company. Friendly, but ultimately comfortable left to herself to think, she maintains something of a quiet distance from others but never strays from a conversation if addressed. Very comfortable in the old, wild places; she listens to the world around her very carefully and has a very passive outlook. Physically very swift, she depends on that for when she needs distance but at times has a bit of a coltishly clumsy streak because she does wander off into her own little mental world much of the time.

Prompt Response:
The thin curve of ivory-tinted ears flicked forward, catching the faintest of breezes as it danced past, breaking a contented feeling over her thoughts; the warm sun overhead played counterpoint to the tap of narrow steps. Every so often one would catch a stone, a singular curved hoof toeing the bit of mineral and tossing it forward in some child’s silly game. Some notion tangled up inside her skull, all flighty fantasy as the forest sang to her so very softly all around.
The yawn that broke over her lips was a pleased noise, a graced utter to brighten the afternoon world all painted up in the beautiful autumn tones; the world was sleepy and ultimately, so was she.

But her steps did not go unnoticed, anymore they never did and in a way she longed for the earlier days when her tiny legs flew over root and dust with reckless joy; free from the burden of such heavy things. And those things, sweet, charming things indeed; were the curious eyes of the young males; so many the headstrong bumbling creatures she had played with in those early days now cast hopeful glances and held their budding racks high to gauge her attention.
Oh, if only she felt such simple things; could convince herself to do nothing but play with their whims and bat her lashes, pace with coy steps and light their eyes with kind words.
But they were friends, little more; her thoughts were outside their curious attempts to win her favor.

She climbed with a few quick bounds to the dusty outcrop so often her refuge, dropped with a fluid motion to lie among the short grass and earthy-scented leaves that had fallen weeks past. Her knees folded and her head tipped skyward, always searching, never tiring of the watch.
The lofty things, birds big and small; how she envied those graceful wings.
True, she could fly, without effort; with each stretch of her thin limbs praising the wind as she raced it. So many hours spent leaping and running that her peers cast the label of silly, daydreamer, a young hind outside her full mind when she longed for some freedom from conversation and their watchful eyes.
At times it felt so imposing, so heavy even then; her ears quivered and her eyes rolled forward. Legs tensed and with a sudden dart she reared up and leapt across the small gap that ran the length of her refuge, eager to move. But too fast, her shoulders betrayed her and she pitched headlong, front quarters sprawled into the mud and mire of the ditch as she shook her head free of the leaves that had caught there, sputtering.

“Miss Naira, that was a nasty tumble; are you alright?” When the words broke her thoughts and her head lifted a young buck with cresting coat of midnight and winter became the owner of the voice, causing her to laugh at her own foolishness and clamber back up with all the shaken balance of newborn.

“I should say so, sometimes my legs and my head; well they simply don’t want one to listen to the other,” her voice was ringed with humor while she shook herself off and took a few steps past him, inviting him along; “Goodness, that was a tumble, wasn’t it? My sister would have a time laughing at me for not watching where I was going. Oh, I remember you; a few months past you and I wandered the stream along the large trees to see where it led.”

The male nodded, certain to tip his head enough to show his growing crown of antlers just beginning; but met disappointment when she took off at a brisk pace, expecting him to keep up and he followed of course.

“I can’t say I recall your name, but those sort of things do get lost easily. Come, I was just out to see what the woods and the wind has to say this bright day; care to join me?” With an easy gait she set off, lifting her head high and taking in the world around her; it spoke in soft voices if one were to listen and said such beautiful things. One day, yes; she knew she would understand it and herself.
But for today she simply wandered with her newly made friend in tow while the great wide world spread out around her and shared its tiny secrets.

A bit of personality: Miela is proud of her lineage, but doesn't take herself too seriously. She knows what she's got and who she is. She doesn't need to impress anyone. Miela has self-respect but is not an egoist. She's a level-headed and assertive girl that knows what she wants and just how to get it.

Prompt Response:

MIELA took after her father, she liked to think. Her blood mother Siani she loved dearly, but Miela was no shy doe. She watched her mother interact with Telyn and Brychan and knew that she did not want to be pushed around. As a proud daughter of the Lord of the Herd, the last thing she would take was someone else's hoof dust.

That applied, in particular, to the bucks that had begun sizing her up. She'd grown from an awkward fawn into a fine young thing and she was aware of it at least tangentially, by looks and whispered words. Miela was conscious of her mother's eye, as well, and knew that she and her siblings were very important to poor Siani, whom had lost her first pregnancy.

But she was strong and independent, just as she'd been as a fawn, though by Telyn's example she did not choose the path towards arrogance. An Outrider hind? What sort of ridiculousness was that?

Miela lifted her head from the greens she was browsing, feeling eyes on her. Those boys were doing it again. Flicking her ears sideways, she turned to stare directly at the buck watching her and smirked inwardly when he glanced sheepishly aside, the intensity of her stare a little intimidating.

Why be an Outrider when one could court an Outrider? Those young bucks would have to do more than wave their antlers around to impress her, although they were not entirely beneath her. She'd grown up with the youthful Corps and watched the elder generations mature as well. Miela knew her place in the herd.

But as for keeping her place... only time would tell.

She picked up her feet and trotted away, flicking her tail, head turned slightly to one side so that one eye could focus on the shy buck. It was an invitation, all right. She flirted often and casually with her younger suitors. When he started to follow, she paused, returning to grazing as if he did not exist. Slightly discouraged, the buck came up to circle her; he might as well have been a gnat to her.

After a few more minutes of coaxing and ignoring, Miela grew bored altogether and turned her back, lifting her gaze to the Outriders’ posts, where the grandest stags of the herd stood watching, waiting; some of them were less vigilant, she saw. Miela looked for her own father and wondered if he was proud of her. Although they often spent time together as a family, she was got from a less favored hind and was conscious of that fact, and while it did not impinge on her feelings of self-worth she occasionally brooded on the idea that he favored the children of that Telyn more than his children out of Siani.

Miela had at least her father’s ambition, she thought. She might be young, but she would never settle for less than what was hers. Her brother, she hoped, had greater ambitions than causing Siani grief all of the time, as he had as a fawn. They were the blood of the Lord of the Herd, after all, and that meant something to Miela.

The poor Corps still trying vainly to recapture her attention blocked her view with his head, saying something coy, but Miela had none of it. He might as well be her brother, silly and young still. She rolled her eyes at him patiently and turned again, this time towards the future. Miela would not be put down.

Which fawn you’re trying for: Two
Which prompt you’re using: Prompt One (although, I might've gone off on a tangent, so also a bit of prompt three)
A bit of personality: Cadi is an average, sweet young fawn. Born of one of the lowest Hinds in her father's harem, she does not tend to hold herself above anyone else in the Firebringer's herd just because Brychan is her father. She is usually very empathetic and understanding, and truly cares for the other members of her herd. She sees them all as her family. That being said, she is still young and easily annoyed by her siblings - in theory she loves and cares for all of her family, but in practice she wouldn't mind if a few of her brothers went away for awhile. She's still very young, and so her fully personality will develop with age - but it can definitely be said that she is a steady and empathetic fawn, who most already know they can depend upon.

Prompt Response:

“Momma? Momma, come look at this! Look at what I found!”

Caught up in her latest discovery, Cadi came tripping out of a thicket with her knobby young legs pointing in all directions, excitement written clearly across her face. There was so much to see, so much to experience in this brand new world! Every time she came across something new she was sure it was the an incredible discovery, sure her mother had never seen it before. And so, naturally, she called Siani over to her repeatedly throughout the day, to display this clump of moss or that colorful cluster of berries, proudly flicking her tiny ears as her exhausted mother smiled faintly down at her eccentric young fawn.

However, as Cadi extracted herself from the branches and looked around expectantly, she was not met with her mother’s tired yet loving gaze. Twitching her nose curiously, she waited. Surely her mother was there, simply not in view. But gradually it dawned on the unmoving fawn that she was, indeed, alone. Such a concept was almost impossible for Cadi to even fathom, but she began to realize that her mother was not there.

Cadi had spent her entire short life at her mother’s side, within calling distance of both Siani and her brother and sister, never mind the rest of her father’s herd which was also usually all around her. This presence was a constant reminder of how protected she was, of what a safe place Brychan’s herd was for her to grow up in. The sudden absence of such a reassurance was a complete shock to the fawn.

Trembling slightly, she cast her head about, looking in all directions for the mother that she suddenly, desperately, needed. She could see her father’s herd, grouped fairly close together on the hillside before her. Several Outrider’s were within shouting-distance. At any point she could have called to them for protection. But they were not her mother, they could not replace that warm reassuring presence the quiet hind had. So as irrational as it would have seemed to an older doe, Cadi continued to look with growing worry and despair for her mother.

Out of nowhere, a small dark figure launched itself at Cadi and bowled her over in one go, it’s excited cries mixing in with Cadi’s own scared and surprised ones. The two forms tumbled over twice and reached a hollow, where lack of anywhere to roll prevented them from moving further. Cadi pulled herself to her feet faster than she had even done so before, making it clear that she could be coordinated when absolutely necessary. Her fur was on end, ears straight up and eyes wide with fright.

Her attacker laughed and shook himself, clambering to his feet with a nonchalant ease.

“Scared ya, didn’t I? You shoulda seen the look on your face, Cadi!” Her brother was grinning from ear to ear, his blue eyes sparkling with mirth against his darker face.

“Ohhhhhh, I’m going to kill you!” Cadi cried out, stiff with anger, hiding the humiliation she now felt over her very loud and very girlish scream. “Just you wait until I tell Momma about this…” She sniffed and turned her tail on her striped brother, who was still laughing and grinning boisterously over how much he had scared his sister.

“I don’t think you’ll need to tell me anything, Cadi - I saw the whole thing. I‘ve been looking for you everywhere, young buck!”Siani’s warm voice, stern but still tinged with amusement, came from behind the pair of siblings. Cadi whirled around with a shout of Momma! and dashed to her mother’s side, small hooves throwing up clumps of grass in her haste.

Siani gave her a quick nuzzle and a head butt, moving the grateful fawn closer to her side, where she pressed happily into the soft, striped fur she knew and loved. Peering out around her mother, she caught her brother’s eye and grinned competitively, knowing that he was definitely in for some trouble, if Siani had indeed seen everything..
