The Iconoclast
Some of your faces lately have kind of been lacking in structure - all the features are there, but it looks like the underlying structure would be deformed/skewed.
Though I can tell that the intent is one of such abrupt surprise that she does not have time to physically react - and that keeps you from drawing some of the more physical signs of 'surprise' -, maybe trying to convey surprise in other ways might help? She seems apathetic about the situation.
Maybe that was intentional?
The apathy was intentional, i'm glad you caught it. I'm definitely trying to get more into the actual anatomy of things, I kind of got into it over the summer, but I only scratched the surface. I've been going to life drawing sessions though, so that helps, and I have some books and junk on anatomy. I think the most challenging for me is the face; i'm slowly starting to grasp some parts of it, but I really need to stick my face in some books and/or people and observe their faces.
