 Summer always held promises the free days of doing nothing or doing everything you couldn't because of school. This summer Daniel was sent to a summer camp just for boys just to get away for the summer like so many others had wished. His parents didn't want him around the pressures of girls which is why they sent him to an all boys camp.
Once there he found friends and something much different than expected, he found love. A student leader there, he was put in his group. They always hung out made jokes and did nothing but smiled, at night when they were away from the cabins they would walk to the lake and and sit in the sand in each others arms and look at the stars. One night changed it when they eloped a week before camp was over. Daniel realized this man did not live in the same city as he did and when this summer would come to aclose he wouldn't get to see him until next summer and it got him worked up. The last night before camp was over they exchanged numbers and e-mail addresses so they could keep in contact.
When camp was over and they both went back home sadness overwhelmed them their only happy times were talking on the phone with each other or e-mailing each other and seeing each other on their web cams. One day Daniel's lover stops calling and getting online and he gets very depressed until one day at school he finds himself staring into the eyes of the man he fell in love with at camp.

Daniel loved summer, it was what he looked forward to most. After school he waved goodbye to his friends after about an hour of exchanging addresses and phone numbers, you know, all the stuff needed to keep in contact. He was happy about this summer, since he had entered high school his parents thought it would be fun for him to attend camp. He couldn't wait, there he would get to meet new friends. When he got home he began to pack immediately he was to be leaving early the next morning and he didn't want to wake up late.
That was what happened the day before.
Currently Daniel was rushing around the house getting things together last minute he might need for the trip. His parents yelled at him to hurry," I'm coming!" Daniel quickly ran in to his room grabbed his bag and ran down stairs. They had arrived to the pick up zone just as the buses were pulling up," bye mama papa," Daniel leaned forward kissing them both on the cheek and quickly ran over waiting to get on the bus as the student leaders called out names for their group and which bus they would be riding.

Summer could not have come at a better time for Julian. Well, perhaps it could have come before exams, but still. A few months of freedom was something he really needed. Too bad he'd been spending almost all of his summer working as a student leader at an all boys camp. There went him enjoying his one cigarette a day. He'd have to smoke at night then. Maybe by the lake. The irony of all this was that Julian was smoking his one cigarette for the day as he killed time the night before he had get up so very early in the morning to get on the bus for the camp he couldn't smoke at.
The next day found him wearing sunglasses because it was too bright and trying to ignore the loud voices of the kids and the other student leaders. He sighed, looked down at the clipboard and sighed again. Oh how he wanted his one cigarette right now. Instead he leaned against the bus that he and the kids in his group would be riding in, right by the open door. Green eyes scanned the sheet as he began calling out names and directing the boys onto the bus.
"...Daniel Carrington."

Daniel looked over at the student leader whom had called out his name and he walked over. As he passed he got stares and heard the comments of other campers making comments about his red hair. None of them were very nice, or necessary he sighed then looked up at the student leader," that's me."
He looked up at the student leader examining him clearly considering he would be with him for the whole camp. He didn't mind him except the fact he was taller than him. Daniel didn't like being around tall people they made him feel, well short.

Julian looked up, over the rim of the sunglasses, at a redhead boy stood before him and announced 'that's me'. He assumed that this was one of the many kids he be watching over. Green eyes stared intently at the boy before looking back down at the clipboard. He marked off the name, nodding as he did. "Okay. Get on."
He tilted his head, indicating to the bus he was leaning against. Julian didn't check to see if the boy did as he told him, and instead continued calling out of the other names on the list and marking them off as the each approached and got on the bus. He went through the list twice more before he was certain that all the kids were on the bus. At least, all the kids in his group. A sigh before he climbed into the bus himself and settled himself in one of the front seats. Beside the redhead from before.

Daniel stared out the window waving to his parents as they drove off before the buses left. He knew the real reason they wanted him away, his father had been complaining he wanted another child. Daniel being there made if difficult for them to accomplish this task so they sent him to summer camp. He didn't mind though, he didn't like being an only child.
He tried to ignore the taunts of some of the people who took notice of his hair and one heavy set boy went over tugging on it and he yelped hitting the boys hand away," what was that for?" the boy laughed," i was making sure it was real." He grimaced and leaned against the window and stared out before taking notice of the student leader who sat in the seat across from him.

Kids these days. Julian frowned as he watched the heavy-set boy tug at one of the other boys' hair. He shook his head as he watched the altercation. He wanted so badly to do the same thing to the heavy-set one as he had done to the redhead, but Julian knew very well that he couldn't. It was against the rules.
Still, for kids to be so mean to someone who was different from them. And just because of the colour of the boy's hair. Red suited the boy very well too. It actually looked lovely... He did not just think that! And about a kid! God, he needed a cigarette. Two fingers pressed against pale lips, just as they would had he that cigarette that he was craving right now, as Julian considered the redhead. Mm. This was going to be a long summer...

Daniel played with his hair a little until it had gone back to it;s normal style and he sighed. Looking at the window where his parents had left, he wasn't lonely without them, he was worried now. What he had been so eager for he figured would turn against him and he would have the worst summer but he had no idea how wrong that idea was.
Daniel looked over at the student teacher noticing him looking at him and saw what he did with his fingers and he furrowed his brow looking at him," what are you doing?"

Julian blinked and refocused his eyes on the redhead's face rather than the pretty red hair. He pressed his fingers to his lips a moment longer before he dropped them and shrugged. "I'm trying to resist the nicotine craving that's making me feel like my head's going to explode." He turned to face forward as he closed his eyes. "Or it's just because I stayed up a little later than I ought to last night."
He pushed his sunglasses up and emerald green eyes opened to stare at the boy more openly. A finger pressed against the side of his face and the other that arm's elbow as he considered the boy. "Or were you asking about the staring."

Daniel turned a little red and looked away as he saw the mans eyes, he didn't even know why! He sighed and gathered himself," no i was asking about what you were doing with your fingers..." Daniel had just thought abiout that, he was staring at him?"
Daniel turned in his seat so he was facing him," but i would like to know that as well but i bet you i can guess, it's my hair isn't it?" He folded his arms getting an irritated look in his features. " Look i know it's red but i was borne with it ok? It's not my fault, yes it's real." He twisted so he was facing the window again.

Julian laughed gently and shook his head. The laugh wasn't directed at Daniel, but amusement at his words. "Well, the fingers were because I'm suffering from nicotine withdrawal, as I said before. I don't have any of those patches or the gum to get the monkey off my back. But..." He shrugged. "I enjoy having my one cigarette a day. It's very relaxing..."
He tilted his head to one side, still smiling. "I didn't ask if it was real. I didn't even say that I was staring at your hair. I just said that I was staring. Never said it was at you either" Julian shrugged again and sighed, his lips curving up a little more. "And I didn't ask if it was real either. But it suits you."

Daniel stares at him for a minute then he coughs," oh I'm sorry umm... Thanks i guess." The only person who had eve complimented him on his hair was his mother so it was a little weird. He looks down at his feet kicking them a little then turned in the seat so his legs were up on it facing the guy," so I'll be spending camp with you basically?"
Daniel was trying to at least make friends with the student leader so it would be probably be easier for him over the course of camp and he scooted to the edge of his seat," smoking is pretty bad you know, I'm allergic to smoke." He stared at him a little," it can kill you too maybe if you just started limiting your use you'd eventually get sick of the taste."

The boy was a little cute. At least, the boy was cute when he was apologizing. Julian smirked a little to himself as he watched the boy. "It's alright. I guess that you don't often get any good comments about your hair then?" A hand reached up and brushed a few stray blond locks out of his eyes as he nodded once more. "Every waking moment of camp, at least. Unless you wander off. Then you're on your own."
One eyebrow arched when the boy started commenting on smoking. Julian frowned a little at the boy before shaking his head. "I smoke one a day, usually in the evening. So I'm already limiting myself. Don't chain smoke like everyone else my age addicted to cigarettes." He shrugged and the smirk was back, eyes dancing with amusement. "It's actually very relaxing. Why would I change now?

Daniel shrugged," i don't know i just don't think having yellow teeth, really bad breathe, smelling like horrible every day and a horse voice is very attractive," Daniel sighed and moved back to the side of the seat closets to the window. He noticed slowly it was getting darker, it was actually quite beautiful.
Daniel knew the effects of smoking only because that's how his grandfather day. His addiction to smoking cost him his life and Daniel had known almost everything about it. He looked back over at the student leader.
