UPDATE: 4/11 I'm fixing up my website layout image so it's like a cross between Siin in human form to her as a demon. It's a wip I was working on and off during break while I get my commissh'z worked on. It's gonna be one of my projects for adv. illustration class w--t. Some crit would be nice yo. I know NO NIPPLES. Like I said it's a WIP so I might put some ribbons over them or move the Siin's closer together cause I can't figure out what to do with the negative space so that it doesn't look so empty but at the same time not over do it ya know? Well some tips beside the obvious anatamy issues (which I'll work out later into the pic rofl) so halp plz  2/20/08 So ah. I always draw Siin. Just recently I've been experimenting with new OC designs. Which I'll scan them in later. Interesting concepts for sure. This on in particular is called Duana, she's pretty much Siin's guardian and 2nd in command of her kingdom. She grew up with her and is the more serious of the two. She has a darker, more colder kind of personality than Siin does. It's why I love her so. So here's something I sketched up, with some references applied. I'm having trouble with the right arm and shoulder. And the left hand needs to be larger? I'm not really sure at this point. I'm deciding whether to give her a serious expression or a lighter more bouncy one considering the pose. Erg. Well anywho here she is so far.   Suggestions= love: Felicific  A little paintover to show ya what I mean.

Such a forced pose is probably not a good choice of reference in this kind of situation. I can't think of a situation in which a person would draw this pose without having looked at a reference, so it just seems unnatural.
I think some of the issues you are having with the shoulder stem from the fact that her shoulders are drawn as if she is tilting the right shoulder (her right) back, but her body is drawn as if it is seen straight-on. It makes the left shoulder seem too wide.
I don't know. The whole pose is awkward.

it kind of looks at the moment like she's being jabbed in the side with a cattle prod, causing her to squirm. Love the design though. Seriously, I wish I could come up with costume ideas like that. s**t.

I concur with Iconoclast but also wanted to add to really pay attention to the movement/gesture of the form too. You're already paying attention to important things like contropastawhatevertheheckitscalled but think of how the parts of the body flow into one another. Can't wait to see a picture of her with her hair rendered fuller >:3

Yes! That's what's been bothering me. The pose is quite wierd. I've got a thought. If I just kill the right arm and fix the pose up a bit so she's like holding a dagger of somesort and and... *goes off to fix*

there, that pose is MUCH better looking. And it's kinda actionie lol. Duana about to use her space manipulatin powaz. Reminds me of a comic book! blaugh

The head looks a little too far left, like she's straining her neck to lean to side. Move it to the right a bit more and it should look much more natural.

I just noticed that her right leg needs to be thicker too, at least I think so. I like big thighs for some reason.

Screen left boob is bigger than the other and is sort of over hanging her body when you are looking at her squarely. idk they looks wrong to me.

This is great.. you turned this pose totally kick a** by fixing her head and her arms. Also, the way her hair is looks a lot cooler now, because it kind of looks like her hair is being blown off her face by whatever she's doing with her hand. I can't wait to see this finished.

I think she'd be a ton more menacing looking with her face lowered, and looking directly at the viewer. She's raaahther sexy. I love her hair~

I absolutely love Duana's hair, twisted dreadlocks with beads at the ends. x3
