I've been trying to figure this out for a while, but I can't seem to find a way that doesn't involve me buying something to change dock icons for things. Anyone know an easy way to change icons? Oh, and I have XP.

`Meru On your desktop right click > properties > desktop > customize destop If that is what you are looking for o.O Hmmmm... I can change icons there, but only for only some files. Like right now I wanna change my Firefox icon, but I can't find how to do just that.

right click the icon, go to properties, and on the first tab that pops up, near the bottom of the window should be a "change icon" button.
click it, and it'll bring up another window with a couple (or only one) icon choices... but also, you have the option to "browse" to a icon pic file (.ico?) and use it...
In addition, you could always get windowblinds or style xp (I use style xp) and it'll do some wild things with your icons, as well as other things... ^_^

ninja Unfortunately while the methods so far listed here will work for alot of cases, a ton of icons can't be changed without a program. Due to greed most of those programs cost money. Perhaps StyleXP does it for free? Look into that. I personally use Stardock's Icon Packager, then again I paid for it along with the rest of the suite so yeah...
