Personal Ghost Stories/Incidents

ghostresearch.org

What is a ghost?
A ghost is a disembodied spirit of a once living person that hasn't quite made the transition from this world to the next, this is usually due to an untimely death such as a murder, suicide or an accident.

What is a poltergeist?
Poltergeist is a German word meaning "Noisy ghost". Poltergeist phenomena is often assosiated with movements of objects, strange sounds and even pyrokinetic activity (Fire Starting.) The phenomena, however, is not usually caused by ghosts, but the psychokintetics or PK ability of adolesscents going through their puberty stage in life. Their own subconscious or unconscious mind causes a "mental temper tantrum" that offects physical objects and teleports them across an area through what is called "mind over matter."

I'll be adding more later.

Well, I've had two reoccuring ghosts in my house.

My first is a cat that used to run around my room at night when it was dark. It was only a white streak that ran from one corner to another, but I could tell it was a cat. I could be watching TV in the dark, or preparing to go to sleep, and I would see it. It wasn't going to hurt me, though, and I knew that. I haven't seen it for years, though, so I don't know why it left...

The other I never saw, but I heard. Our living room floor creaks in a very peculiar, distinctive way when someone walks across it. A few years back, every night I was awake at around 3:30, I would hear someone walking through the front room, away from my bedroom and towards the kitchen. But everytime I went to look, there was no one there. I haven't heard that in years either.

So, those are my ghost stories!

So, we're pretty sure my house has a ghost or two hanging around.

My mom is convinced her closet is haunted. Apparently, she's seen this guy that's supposedly haunting her closet, too. It's kind of strange. I mean, who would want to haunt a closet?

Also, once, when it was only me and the cats at home, I heard something fall over upstairs. It sounded like a stack of books or something falling over, like a couple things fell right after each other. I thought it was the kitten, but I heard female giggling afterward. And when I went upstairs to check, I couldn't find anything except a statue knocked over, and I'm pretty sure it's not what made that sound.

A bit creepy, huh?

I love ghost stories. I'm not sure why a ghost would haunt a closet. Maybe it was part of the room at one point in time?

Two of my friends claim to have ghosts in their houses.

First theres Amanda, whenever she is home with no adults, there is quite a bit of commotion upstairs. Such as doors opening or slamming, toilets flushing, sinks turning on, ect. She is 16, and has lived there since the beginning of her teen years. I believe it to be a poltergeist, but she is not so sure. Opinions?

Secondly my friend Jenny, her and her younger sister have lived in the house their entire lives, and the haunting has gone on since as long as they can remember. It's mostly the master beedroom door slamming shut, and in the morning finding that the bathroom has flooded during the night. Her mother died last month, the activity has been less predictable, with days of nothing, and other days with incessant door slamming. Opinions?

My best friend in junior high told me that there was a girl that haunted her closet. Apparently the girl had hanged herself in the closet... I don't think I ever went in her room again after she told me that.

That deffinitly does not sound pleasant Dx

One of my friends lives in a "mini-mansion" [that term is so lame, but thats what we call them...] that appears to have a bad history. A black man haunts her shower, but he seems to be more afraid of people than people are afraid of him. Theres an older man in a tux who we think was a butler, a lady that was possibly a maid, a little girl who tends to be drawn to plush cats, and something else. However they tend to mind their own business.

So many houses and buildings in my city are "haunted", its hard to tell who is lying, and if its just our minds playing tricks on us anymore.

My best bet on your friend Amanda is that she has some latent mental abilities which allowes these things to happen. Again 95%-99% of poltergeist activity is caused by Teenagers with latent abilities.

On your friend Jenny, I think might indeed be a "Haunting" which usually depicts and event or even the death scenario of a certain person. Now my guess would be this ghost is female. And perhaps blames it's emotional upset on being female. Now, in my mind I see a woman fighting with her husband/lover/partner, ect. slaming the door and going to the rest room and perhaps drowning, or falling asleep in the tub. This would be an accedential death, and the ghost is having a hard time dealing with it. But that's my best bet. =3 Since the death of the woman in the house, perhaps it has become less frequent? But when the daughters grow up, it might start to reoccur more frequently.

Thanks xD That does seem quite reasonable. I just talked to Amanda about it a bit more and asked for some details. I do not know that much about poltergeists; do you know if it is possible for a poltergeist to take the form of something? It appears to her [only once or twice] as [to get the point] an "evil" version of her [red eyes, ect...]. She has dreams about it trying to hug her from behind, when she gets it to let her go, it drops her. [I hope this shouldn't now belong in the dream thread]. She has a fear of getting too close to someone, only for them to let her go [hence the dream].
Pretty much I'm asking if it could still be a poltergeist, if the fear may be causing it, and if it could be having an effect on these dreams.

That does make a lot of sense, do you know if there is a way to help the spirit move on? Or atleast cheer it up, or help it understand and deal with things?

[eek! long post again Dx]
