PS3 isn't selling well huh? Quote: Maybe more people buy and like the PS3 than meets the online eye, that is if unofficial numbers from sales tracker VG Chartz are to be believed. According VG Chartz, Sony has sold more than 10 million PS3s worldwide through January, something the Associated Press corroborated on Tuesday. By contrast, the Xbox 360 didn't reach the 10 million mark on global VG Chartz charts until June 2007, some four months after the PS3. Further analysis of the numbers reveal why: the PS3 enjoys consistent sales worldwide in all major markets. The Xbox 360, meanwhile, sells lopsidedly better in the U.S. than Europe and is widely considered a failure in Japan. Despite its accomplishments, the PS3 has been widely criticized by outspoken pundits and consumers alike since launch, something that has largely simmered down in recent months thanks to a price drop and better games, particularly those released during the holidays. Adding to the momentum is today's fresh announcement that Toshiba will discontinue its HD DVD business, making Sony's Blu-ray the optical HD standard, and the PS3 that much more compelling as a product. The console war rolls on... ]http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=162608

Oh but those 360 fanboys have another excuse now, claiming that the reason the 360 isnt selling well is because Microsoft is having trouble getting enough of them out there.
I laugh at this because ALL the stores, withing about a 100km radius of me has TONS of the things. But of course, a store having several machines for sale is a definate sign they dont have enough to sell so its hurting the sales. 360 fans are just sore loosers, they dont want to admit their machine is less advanced, less powerful, and is slowly loosing ground to Sony. Ground they only gained because Msoft rushed production and launched a year before it was really ready. Hell, if Sony wanted to they could have, but Sony tends to put out QUALITY products.
But yes, I was rather happy to read about the sales. Sony is only something like 6 or 7 million units away from the 360s total numbers if I am not mistaken, which means within a year, the PS3 likely will hold the lead between the 2.
GO SONY!

Yeah...and didn't Sony said they expected to have sold 11 million by the end of the fiscal year?(this march, right?) If so, they're really close to achieving that goal.

Yep, they are pretty close to hitting their mark, and now Toshiba is backing Sony since they have no need to concern with the HD deals, and they now bought the Cell Processor production capability from Sony, so that will help in costs of the consol in the long run, I am sure.
People dont like to admit that the PS3 is selling well, and is selling more as a game consol then a blu-ray player, which is what alot of 360 loosers try to claim. Its hard to take a person seriously when they have a really intellegent post then toss in "Sony sucks, its only selling as a BD Player, not a game consol, they have no exclusives that the 360 doesnt have". Makes you wonder if someone else typed up the intellegent part.

I still see constant bashing of the PS3 no matter where I go, honestly it makes me think of the whole "guys that brag are actually rather small" thing. I realize that its because the xbox fans dont want to admit that, many of them, paid a ton of money when it came out, had it fail several times, and then have to admit that a system that came out a year later is better power wise, and then to have to admit that more and more gamers are buying a PS3.
I remember hearing a guy that I would NEVER have thought play games, talk to me in Wal-Mart about how great the PS3 was (before I bought one) and how great the multiplayer was for Resistance. Id take a wager that only 25% at most, of all PS3s, are used solely as a movie player. That is likely a HIGH estimate too, its likely less. I do have to wonder if some predictions of the PS3 out selling the 360 this year will be acurate or not; I would guess CLOSE to it or the same, but we will see in the later months wont we?
