As the sun began to slowly make it's way down towards the horizon, Caprice decided it was time to get out of the water. She'd spent every second of today in the ocean; except for eating time of course. But now the water was becoming thick and black, making it hard for Caprice to avoid running into the rocks or coral. Already she'd wiped her tail against a very sharp edge of coral and was not looking forward to that bruise.
With a swift flick of her tail, Caprice glided herself up towards the sandy beach. Once there, she struggled up to her hooves. This was always difficult since she hardly used her legs in the water. After a few stretches, Caprice began to search around for the right place to sleep for the coming night.

Vulcan walked through the woods. The smell of thick salt and rotting sea animals slowly filled his nostrils. and he couldn't help but cringe. The stallion had never been to the beach before. And in truth, he never wanted too. Water...sand... It all seemed so. Horrendous. Vulcan hated water, and the last thing he wanted was dirty, salty water coming onto muddy, annoying sand.
But, his curiosity got the best of him. He had heard it was a very pretty sight, water as far as one could see. But that idea didn't seem particularly appealing to him. Still. It wouldn't hurt to look.
The forest was thinning, and the dirt was becoming less dark, moist, and solid, and more separated and dry. He didn't like the sinky feeling it gave his hooves. The trees were shorter, and becoming more shrub like. He knew he must be very, very close. Moments later, he poked his head out through a few trees, to see the ocean.

As Caprice pranced around searching for a good bed, the sun contined to sink down further and further. It's descend cast an errie red glow that gave Caprice a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach. But she shook the feeling off since it was ridiculous. It was just the sun setting and that was all.
As she gradually got further from the water and closer to the forest, the sand beneath her hooves began to mix with the dirt, making it stiffer. With the ability to walk easier, Caprice was able to give herself a little shake to try and free the wet sand that clung to her scales. No matter how she came up out of the water, Caprice would always be covered in sand. How, she was almost to the line of trees that marked the start of the forest.

Vulcan looked to see a sight he couldn't prepare himself for. With the sunset, it was like the water was alight with fire itself, reflecting the power of the sun into a distorted subworld that shimmered and moved as if the sunset was alive. He tore his eyes from the sight, moving then along the ocean back to the shore, where the water, seeming to absorb the blackness of the night, crashed against the dimly lit shore.
He looked away, and something caught his eyes. Movement. An odd being, the likes of something he had never seen before. It had the body of a Soquili, but had a tail, and other odd features. He moved further out from the trees, exposing his entire body to the night to get a better view of the being.
Vulcan was unaware, though, of how hard it was to be stealthy in the nighttime, or any time for that matter. His wings flickered and glowed, unafraid to flaunt their beauty. The stallion turned and looked at them, realizing that he was probably quite visible, and hesitated, debating weather to retreat into the woods or not.
He had never been afraid of anything. He was a smaller stallion because of his strong flutter roots. But that had never worried him. But still, this creature, apparently from the depths of the seas, seemed quite opposite to his own self, a creature of the air and fire. And that thought alone worried him.

Caprice continued to weave in and out of the thickening trees. She didn't go very far however. Despite the comfort the forest offered, Caprice never felt comfortable straying too far from the ocean. In all her life Caprice had never been more than 500 feet from the water. The few times she actually left it were for food or to sleep. In a way she felt she was missing out on something, but that never crossed her mind too often.
At a certain point, Caprice stopped going further into the still thin trees and turned back. As she did so, the sun was just barely still peeking over the horizon. But this wasn't what caught Caprice's attention. Standing near a tree, burning intensly against the coming darkness, was a firey mix of orange with a little blue. At first, Caprice was stunned and confused at what she thought was 'floating fire'. But upon closer inspection, Caprice saw how the fire was floating; it was the wings of another horse. Caprice had never seen a site such as this and almost couldn't believe her eyes. Sure, she'd met horses with the ability to fly, but none such as this.
Slightly alarmed, Caprice tried in vain to sneek behind a tree. But, of course, her tail stuck out like a sore thumb. Being of water, Caprice couldn't help but fear a twing of fear of the fire soquili.
"Um...hello?" Caprice whispered, still hiding behind the tree. She felt silly hiding from another horse since her first instinct was to run up and say hello, but Caprice had learned that you should be causious sometimes.
