Where applicable, that's what this forum is about, right?

Ghosts: Photographic/visual anomalies.
UFOs: Photographic/visual anomalies.
Astral projection, zygomancy, etc: You're either lying or fooling yourself because you want it to be true.
Gods: You work hard to gain enough money to pay for cancer treatment, saving your life. You give your god credit for an non-obvious reason.
Conspiracy theories: People really like hearing about conspiracies and deep secrets. That's why The DaVinci Code sold so well. People sometimes like them so much that they look at evidence but arrive at the wrong conclusion.
Everything else: You don't know what the hell is going on, so you fall back to fantasies about supernatural phenomena which are not based on reality in any way.

But seriously, there's loads of intelligent life. It's just not screaming constantly in all directions on the handful of frequencies we search.

There are a lot of graduate-educated young-earth creationists.

Please remain rational in the future rather than jumping to conclusions.

I think you have a mix of people. Some are skeptics, some are die-hard believers, some are serious, and others are not. My suggestion is to be open minded, don't be afraid to be apart of a civil discussion, and just have fun with it.

The problem with having an open mind is that people will insist on putting things in it.

HA! That's true.

On Coast to Coast AM one of the regular guests is Neal Adams (the famous Comic Book Writer for DC Comics) is pushing a theory that the theory of plate tectonics is incorrect. He believes that the planets are actually growing. He has time lapse animations of the continents and how as the Earth expanse you get the continents of today. When asked where does the mass of the Earth come from he believes that the mass is coming from another dimension.

Its interesting and in SOME ways seems possible, but very unlikely. Something like that with an open mind opens your mind to other possibilities, but hopefully it also means that you don't fall for everything and anything people tell you.
