Hello to all you missionaries. I'm sorry I couldn't be here on Sunday because I was in the hospital. If you want more details, look at the first page of last Sunday's meeting. I added a note under our Zone Leader's writing.

I read all of what was said last Sunday and I loved all the participation. However, there were some comments that were troublesome.

So, tonight is sort of related to Sunday's discussion. The topic is:

How Do We Talk To Those Who Have Fallen Away Or Are Starting To Fall Away From The Church So That We Can Help Them On The Road To Full Recovery In The Church
PostPosted: Wed Feb 20, 2008 4:49 am

You would be very surprised if you knew how many missionaries I knew that had fallen away for sometime before their mission.

Since they've "raised the bar" a lot of those guys would not have been able to go. Many of them were excellent missionaries. Because of what I've seen and experienced, I have mixed emotions about the whole bar deal.

I believe we need to send the best out there, and yet, many of these young men were such great missionaries and it totally strengthened their testimonies and proved to them that they were right to turn their lives around and get back on the right track.

I was surprised that me, who was basically a non-member until about 18 months before my mission, had done FARRRR less [experimentation, we will call it] than a lot of missionaries. But they weren't that way any more and I learned a lot from many of them. It also helped strengthen in me the desire not to rush to judgement on people. Some people that you see at church right now that may seem like they don't care much about the gospel, could end up being one of the best missionaries in the field.
