That Bella, is, for the most part, your average person. Like, sometimes you get the other vampire novels, and the main character is like "squeal! It's a vampire! I'm going to go hang out with them, because of course they won't hurt me, seeing as how I love them!"
I find that really annoying. I mean, it's like saying, I don't know, fire won't burn you because you're a pyro, and you love fire, or whatever. Or that a buffalo won't gore you when you get too close, because you love them, and that they would know better. Or even care.
Bella's not really like that. I mean, everyone can enjoy her character, even those who aren't even into the whole vampire thing, which I wasn't when I started out reading. She's not stupid, in the sense that she recognizes the fact that, um hello, vampires are, you know, kinda dangerous to hang around. At least, certain vampires are dangerous to hang around. (I may not be an Edward fan, but at least he seems to be able to exercise self-control. rolleyes )
And she wasn't obsessed with vampires before she met Edward.
I don't know how to describe what she has, or is. I suppose it's the "Mary Sue" in her that I actually like, which everyone else seems to hate.
Anyone else feel this way?

i agree...its like when a storm chaser is in love with tornadoes, so they get closer to them thinking they will be fine just because they love them.
I like that bella is more like "hey, thats dangerous. I'm going to keep away so i don't DIE."
so yea... i like her because of that. if i was apprached by a vamp, i would be like, "Heeeeey old pal! I don't taste good! Back off there buddy."

I agree. I love how bella is more of a normal teenage girl with common sense. I also like how bella still lives a mostly normal life unlike most books when the main character falls in love with a vampire the said vampire has a mansion and tons of money and just steals her away never to be seen again and no one questions it. In Meyers' book the Cullens live in a huge house and have lots of shiny cars but, they still partcipate in daily life like going to highschool.

I don't really like Bella's character. She's kind of whiny. And sh like rubs it in the face of everyone that she's dating the "super-hawt-glittery-vampire", and it gets annoying once in a while. rolleyes

I like Bella... I kind of wish she had more friends, more of a life outside Edward, but I'm a girl too, I know how we can get. rolleyes I love all the characters though...

She really doesn't seem to have a life outside of edward. I like it when she hangs out with other people like angela because then she seems more normal. the books makes her seem obsessed with edward (well true i mean who wouldn't) but still....idk

The only reson I like Bella is because of just that. she knows the dangers of hangng wih leeches.
Oh, and if she goes for Jacob, I WILL stab her.
