She could see the shore from where she sat, leaning against the brick wall. Her hair- white, cropped short now, a diagonal from the nape of her neck that fell to her collarbone around her face- drifted into her eyes every so often and she pushed it aside, out of her eyes (which werea tranquil pink). Lamia writhed, agonized over Jezebel’s sudden bout of quietude. She was in an asylum now, felt much safer, so she didn't scream or whimper as before. Even though sanity was lost to her, she had power- still more than her body could hold, but not enough to make her violent anymore. As the waves rolled in (high tide was coming) she raised her hands and placed them against the wall. She chanted to herself, the same word, over and over.

But Lamia was aware of the other demon approaching. She stopped twisting in the sand, straightened slowly, and looked towards the emanations that strands of matter from the Void gave out. Quickly, she twisted her way back to Jezebel, who was still whispering to herself, her jaw barely moving.

The sound of chunky flip flops along a boardwalk rang across the late serene afternoon. She had always heard that walking in the sun and soaking up the vitamin D helped relieve the blahs and lately she had some big ones.

Plodding onward, she carried a rolled up towel under her arm with a pirate on it. Mandy wore a bright orange onesie, clearly from an era past but she was so slight and flat she looked like a transvestite trying to keep a bikini top up. It wouldn't be a pleasing sight. But she wore a thin white shirt over her little girl one piece, a pair of sophie shorts and a baseball cap with a beer company logo. Just because she was tiny didn't mean she wasn't a legal booze hound.

Almost tripping off the last plank of the pier, Mandy sloshed through the sand and to a nice spot to lay out her towel. She watched the waves lap at the shore and began scanning the horizon back and forth. But her she made a double-take when she found a serpent woman in her periphery. Whipping her head back to the shore, she fidgeted nervously. Did she stare? Oh God, she stared didn't she? She was being rude! What a crazy creature! Not that she was--or had been-- normal. But she dared another glance. Oh good it.. well... she was blind. Ha! But her friend wasn't. ... Was... was she talking to herself? Ahh, she looked over here!

"...................... Hi... there! Sorry! I... didn't mean to stare at... your......... friend!"

Lamia grimaced at Mandy and didn't bother to grace her with words. She continued to trace figure eights in the sand by slithering through it. When would this interminable trip end? Yes, Lamia was cold-blooded, but this was too much!

As for her summoner, Jezebel took a moment to process that someone was speaking to her. Then she opened her mouth, closed it and tilted her head up. She put her hands over her eyes- see no evil- and muttered to herself, "Someone is talking to me. She says Lamia is my friend? Lamia..." No one had spoken to her in so long- she thought. Probably she was wrong. Someone might have spoken to her this morning and she would never know. Jezebel meant to ask the girl for her name, but what came out was, "Your hat... has a logo."

Oooookay then. Manny smiled as politely as she knew how, trying not to gape at the monster beside her. "Oh uhmm..." Taking off her hat, she checked the label sewn to her baseball cap and put it back on her head, flipping her curly sandy blond hair around her shoulders.

"Yeah... I got it a uh pub I go to... They have like shirts and... stuff..." Yeah. Awkwaaard. "So are you just takin' a break at the beach today with.... .... her?" Mandy pointed cautiously to the blind, sharp-clawed..... serpent woman.

"Yes," Lamia hissed, her pointed tongue flipping out between her rows of pointed teeth. "Leave us."

But the white-haired young woman stared up at the other as if she had never seen another person before. "A... pub..." If her words had come out any slower, they might have been unnoticable except as a faint hum. "I have never heard of a... pub." Or had she? Jezebel knew what a pub was but thought that might be a future, not a past. She touched her fingers to her lips. "She is Lamia."

Oh God! Mandy took a few steps away from the creature, trying to keep the young woman in between her and the teeth. Which sounded horrible, letting a ravenous she-devil inhale a girl, but if anyone was going down it wasn't to be her. Sacrifices must be made.

"Well haha I guess you're a lil young to get into pubs, but it's like... a bar, but they usually serve food more like a restaurant...? They're fun..." Mandy watched the girl process the information slowly. She reminded her of a doll. Cute at first, but the more you stared, the creepier it got. She tried to just smile and not get weirded out, but who was she kidding? Little Miss Young couldn't talk.

At the mention of the demon, she formed the biggest and shallowest smile she could muster, waving at the nightmare beside her. "Hi, Lamia." Frowning suddenly, she looked to the girl. "You.. didn't make her did you?" A teenaged mad scientist? She hoped not.

Jezebel understood, or thought she did. Did this lady know that she was crazy? She knew it, she'd been told often enough that she was mad. But... Was it really so obvious? Unobtrusively, she started to stand up, but then she decided not to, and slipped back down to her spot. This time, though, she crossed her legs. "She was in my head but not anymore," she explained. Deliberately, she slipped to the side so her head rested on Lamia's tail. The demon's teeth clenched and her teeth were bared in a savage grimace, but she didn't move.

"Huh... So it just popped out, eh?" Well she guessed anything was possible. Mandy sat down with the girl, though not too close, and scooted away a bit as the Lamia began to bare her fangs in ill ease. How does she not get her head bitten off?

"Sooo... what do you use her for?" She hoped the girl didn't just keep the serpent around as a pet. "Oh, I'm sorry! Haha I never asked your name! I'm Mandy..." Wouldn't hurt to know.

"Extenuating circumstances." Jezebel didn't remember meeting Mandy. But it was happening right now so she would remember later. If she remembered later anyway. "She scares off the demons." If she was even aware of the request for her name, she didn't answer it. At least, not right away. After watching a collection of negative and frightful expressions cross the demon's face, she said, "I'm Jess. Jezebel. Bella. I don't remember. One of them." Then she shrugged, but it was more of a motion of her hips than her shoulders, being as their range of motion was restricted by Lamia's thick tail.

"ohhh okay..." Mandy humored Jess, Jezebel or Bella which ever one, trying her best to keep the patronizing to a minimum. Grabbing her towel and, almost falling over in the process as her legs were tangled Indian-style, she placed it under her new location and sat down on it. Though the damage was already as she had sand in every crack already. Ah well.

Bringing her knees up to her chest, the young woman rocked back and forth. "It'd be nice to have one of those..." God knew she had enough skeletons and ghouls in her closet to warrant such protection. Especially now while her "work" had come to a temporary hiatus of sorts.

In a rather snake-like gesture, Jezebel grabbed at Mandy's arm. Her grip wasn't so much strong as it was surprising. With wide eyes, she looked at the underside of her wrist. Then she nodded. "You have enough blood," she said, letting go of the other's wrist and settling back down to put her head on Lamia's side.

For her part, Lamia seemed to be getting more agitated. Why wasn't the other demon ferrying his summoner here? God, she had been among mortals- insane mortals!- for too long. Finally that weakling summoner at that shop decided to spread the secret more widely, and she was stuck here with a crazy girl.

Corie had managed to wander quite a ways from his home, merely to escape, he said, from thoughts and questions that he couldn't find answers to himself, which was upsetting enough on its own; he found that he could never be absolutely positive about anything anymore, for some reason, and it vexed him. As such, he sought to seek reprieve, in one of his favorite spots, no less, and he didn't expect to see too many other people here, though, despite what he thought, there was a small group forming not too far away from here.

"It's not like I'm interested in going over there and I don't see why you are," the boy said, looking like he was muttering to himself, at first, but he wasn't, really; another demon loomed over him silently, examining the others in the area. "What if that one tries to attack me or something, you know," but that wouldn't be the case, he was assured.

Well, now, if she were to successfully attack, my end of the contract would not be fulfilled, and that simply won't happen, was the simple reply, in an almost soothing manner at that. Though not fully accepting of this explanation, since the demon really had no reason to actually keep to the contract, Corie decided that joining them might not be so horrible.

It was disturbing to know she had not the skill to pull her hand away from Jess in time. Being normal again wasn't very fun. All she could do was hope the young woman didn't try to snap off her twiggy little arm, keeping her fear at bay behind a gracious smile. But her confident facade faltered at the mention of blood, namely Mandy's. Blood enough for what? She decided it was best not to know.

Pulling her arm back into her protection, Mandy looked beside to find a young man walking towards them with--hey what's ya know, a monster! Didn't she feel like the fish out of water today. At least this one didn't look as frightening. "Is... he a friend of yours, Jess?"

She swung her head to face the other demon, smiled through her vicious-looking teeth, and hissed, "Thou hast finally brought thy summoner?" As if they had known each other. They hadn't, but all demons who were brought to this hellish world had a responsibility to each other, as far as Lamia was concerned. And this one would be a delicious meal if she ever got that hungry.

For her part, Jezebel was entranced by the other demon's wings. "Angel," she breathed, and one hand gave a telltale twitch. Even though there was another summoner there, only the angelic demon really concerned her. She had Seen this one. And his summoner. But people were normal and boring. Hello, angel, she said, remembering what she had said in her vision. But then she was stricken with worry. Had this already happened? A chill sweat broke out on her skin. She couldn't remember. Her hands went back over her eyes and she curled into herself.

"Don't know him. Don't know him." Her hands bunched up her white hair.

Ah, he takes quite a bit of convincing, but, yes, said the winged demon, looking at Lamia for but a moment before glancing pointedly at her summoner, who seemed to be a bit shaken, though he was sure this couldn't have been his fault.

"If you were talking about me, this is the first time we've met," Corie interjected, not caring for the girl who seemed to be going, or who had already gone crazy. "But, either way, no matter who you were talking about, we haven't seen eachother, ever," he said decidedly. "I had to get talked into coming over here, so, this isn't a meeting by choice," but, reluctance aside, he decided to get a little comfortable and knelt down in the sand, looking bored as ever.

"Just who are you, anyway? You don't seem to have any company, if you know what I mean," the boy said, pointing at Mandy.
