It was a glorious afternoon. Simply glorious.
Or it would have been, had it not been for the fact that she had nobody to share it with. The regal looking mare huffed to herself as she lowered her head down to the creek to drink, pausing for a moment to admire the shine of her crown in the water's moving reflection. Such a waste of a day, if there was nobody to talk with and share it with. The cold bitter winter was soon coming to an end, and she once again could appreciate the beautiful blossoms and green grass that would soon sprout among the fields and plains.
Sighing, she lapped at the water, mindful to never let any drip from her jaw when she rose back up from her sipping. What a dreadful waste this day had become. Where was all the excitement? The fun? The adoration and attention?
Though, she supposed, things could always be worse, although it hardly seemed likely at this boring point.

Flight was not something that she thought would be wise to attempt. The last time she had tried to shift sizes things had gone wrong. There was something not quite right and all she could do was blame Dynatos.
She huffed softly, wings twittering before folding carefully back, careful to keep out of the way of branches that tried to grab at them. It was so much easier to avoid things when she was smaller... Why couldn't she be smaller now?
Her eyes narrowed slightly as she glanced up in the direction of her movements, catching sight of Lady. She could easily turn away... Or she could keep walking. Tilting her head high she chose to do the latter, making her way own to the small stream with pride.

Her eyes had been closed, enjoying the gentle warmth the sun was raining down upon her fair back, when she heard it. It was a noise! Could it be possible she'd found some company at long last? Oh the joys she would have, finally having yet another creature to speak to, yet another creature to compliment her fair appearance, to hold civil and meaning conversations with!
Turning her striped head, curls of gold, white, and black bounced softly against her neck, her golden eyes sparkling with excitement. Her mouth, opened to greet the new arrival, quickly found its jaw dropping with slack as she noticed who had entered the scene.
It was that...that bug! That bug that she'd try to shoo away, who Teli had protected! What had he called her again, Mango? And why in the world was she so.. so so BIG?!?
Her head felt slightly dizzy, but she stood firmly on all four hooves. No... this bug was trying to trick her. Trying to scare her again. She wouldn't let her run her off this time!

She cast a sidelong glance at Lady before huffing softly, tilting her head a bit higher. She wasn't going to flit around and play silly games this time (as fun as they were to play). She was going to stand here and get a drink of water, proud of herself and proud of what she was carrying... Even if her stomach was too round for much more than walking around.
Eventually something called 'manners' seeped into her head and she found her nose wrinkling as she glanced down before slowly turning to look at Lady. "... 'Lo."

Her expression must have been evident for the rather large flutter to see, since the brown wild looking creature seemed to return the face as she walked by. As she did pass, Lady's eyes fell not only on the larger size of the mare (why, she seemed to have grown even larger than her!), but on the rotund shape of her stomach. Had the flutter eaten herself so large, only resizing herself kept her stomach from expanding itself too heartily on her smaller flutter frame? For that was the only conclusion Lady could come to, aside from the possibility that... no, no that was a silly idea. Far too silly of an idea. No, the flutter was fat because she ate herself fat, and that was that.
Her nose scrunched as the mare passed by to drink from the brook Lady had drank from only moments before, and she gave a generous "Hello" in response, probably one of the most polite things she'd ever said to the flutter before this point. What on earth had the Fates been thinking, to force her once again in the presences of the wild female who no doubt was plotting to snatch at her crown once more!?
"You can't have it." she said, taking precaution as checkered hooves took a step backwards. "Even if you're bigger than me now, I'll fight to keep it!!"

Her brow furrowed as she looked at the strange, decorated mare, trying to figure out just what she was talking about. It was then that she recalled their last meeting... "Don't want your pretty. Will soon have pretties of my own; precious pretties that will need care and attention." She nodded slowly. There were some things in life far more precious than gold or gems... New life was amongst that.
"You relax. Not want to fight or hear screeching. Too loud. Hurts ears."

One light eyebrow rose questioningly as she gazed upon the mare, listening intently to what she had to say. Pretties of her own? What in the world did she mean by that? Had she been plotting to steal other's worldly possessions to gain her own regal appearance?
Why... that was almost insulting!
She glowered at the mare, prepared to lash out in return, demanding to know why her crown wasn't good enough for the flutter to attempt to steal away, when the almost cross sounding demand uttered from the brown mare's lips made her falter and stopped her in her tracks.
Instead, she took a deep breath, willed her delicate self to calm down, and then threw her a look of disdain. "Pretties of your own, hm? And what exactly does that mean?"

"Here Tapanga thought Lady was smart." She snorted softly as she shook her head, braids and beads clinking together as her mane shifted. "Can Lady not tell with her gold eyes what Tapanga is talking about?" Her head tilted to the side as she straightened herself out, turning so that maybe Lady Luck would see what it was she was talking about. If she couldn't see that she was carrying foals well... She was blind to everything but her own reflection.
"It is okay. Tapanga will make sure her foals leave your pretty alone too. If anyone is going to take Lady's pretty it will be Tapanga... Eventually."

Her eyes narrowed in fury at the catty comment from the flutter on her intelligence. She was smart, smarter than some... jungle bohemian!
She could feel her teeth grit, and she immediately stopped, fearing damage to her pearly incisors. Instead, she concentrated on staring down at the bulging side of the mare that the flutter was obviously pointing towards. "What Lady sees of Tamango is that she's very utterly and disgustingly fa---what did you just say?"
Her snide remark fell short of finishing its sentence as the flutter finished hers, the wind's eyes widening. No no, no no no no. She had to have misheard. This bug was going to have baby bugs?

"Ta-pan-ga." Her eyes narrowed as she glared at the pretty pink and purple mare with her pale, gold tipped wings and tiny crown. Lady was rude. She might not like the other mare all that much but she at least called her by her proper name.
"You heard Tapanga... Unless your ears are as bad as your eyes."

If the fact the news hadn't shocked her as greatly as it had, Lady would have preened at the idea that her 'slip' of Tapanga's name had irritated the flutter in return for that dreadfully awful remark on Lady's intelligence. But the opportunity for glee fell short, as Lady's face visibly paled at the new knowledge that Tapanga was a mother-to-be. Not only were foals annoying little pests, but to add on top of that the mother was already one as well? (And apparently a LARGE one at that!)
"My ears work just fine, thank you." She snapped, taking another step backwards. Her gold eyes couldn't meet with the golden ones of the other mare. This just... this just didn't make sense at all.
"Who's the father?" she suddenly inquired, the thought finally hitting her mind. It couldn't have been Teli... could it? No, not Teli. Teli was too caught up in his silly ways to be interested in things like fatherhood. Perhaps some wandering flutter just as wild as this mare had done the job?

"Not work good enough." She snorted softly, giving her head a light toss. If she had only been able to shift sizes and flutter off this would be the very moment where she would do so. The nerve of some mares.
"Dynatos." She said simply and proudly. It wasn't as if she had to prove anything to Lady... But Dynatos was strong and handsome; a fine stallion to father foals to someone as strong and beautiful as herself.

She watched as long dark braids flew over her shoulder and out of the other mare's eyesight. For a brief second, Lady could actually see a glimpse of wild natural beauty in this unpolished jewel for a mare, despite her large belly dropping downwards. That second quickly passed, however, as she remembered who she was addressing, and who currently was continuing to make sport of her sense of sight and hearing.
"Dynatos," Lady echoed, the name slowly rolling off of her tongue. It sounded so familiar, and yet so foreign at the same time. Had it really been that long since she'd seen the tan unicorn stallion?
Her musing paused, and the glare returned. "Well it figures someone like him would do the trick. Oddly enough, you two are quite appropriate for one another."

"Is Lady being... Nice?" Her brow lofted slightly as she eyed the other mare, clearly not trusting this momentary change in temper, even if Lady Luck was still glaring at her. She had complimented her pairing with Dynatos, after all... That had to count for something even in Lady Speak.
"Maybe one day Lady will have foals of her own to teach things to... Like how to be... Lady." Then again, why anyone would want more than one of Lady around was completely beyond her, but she could at least attempt to be nice in return.

Her mouth, having been still open in preparation to speak, quickly closed, and the mare rehashed her earlier words in her mind. She hadn't tried to be nice, as she was pointing out the wild mare's stubborn flightiness as being complimentary of the brute stallion's hard-headedness, but, in a round about away... yes, they truly did seem appropriate for one another, in good ways as well as the bad. Lady would never dare reiterate those words again, though, or any other form of compliment the mare deemed justified to receive, in fear she'd never rid herself of the jungle mare who was soon to give birth to mini jungle babies.
Her eyes grew even wider in horror, however, as Tapanga took the initiative and, in attempts to be kind in return for the misinterpreted words, made mention of the idea that Lady would dare have children of her own.
"Ohhh no. No no no no," she shook her head, laughing gaily at the silly thought. "Tapanga can play Mommy and have little flying bugs learn to appreciate the pretty shiny things in life, but Lady will remain the one and only Lady."
She nodded her head firmly in affirmation of her own statement. Foals, from her? Preposterous.
