Azren was, quite like himself, snoozing. His ribcage was resting gently against the bark of a large willow, the slender, hanging branches brushing delicately against the dark pelt. An ear flicked, catching the sound of water lapping gently against a pebbly shore. Part of him wished he could see the water, but the other part of him considered his blindness a handicap- whatever had created all of their races merely thought that taking away their sight would make Nightmares less of a threat to the others. Tch, what a joke.
Stretching out a bit, his eyes opened for a moment, more out of a reaction than anything else. After all, he was just as sightless as the rest of them. Lifting his cranium from his massive paws, he stared blindly out in the direction of the water, tongue flicking the air in search of any scents that intrigued him.

Following the faint sound of water another nightmare pads as silently as one can when they can't see their path. Vitra hadn't caught any other scents besides grass while he was walking. A new one would have been.. nice, not that it would have made any difference in the long run. He doesn't stop to muse over that thought and keeps his pace towards the water. At least the sound was breaking the dull silence.

Azren was about to return to his napping before he caught the soft sensation of approaching footsteps. He craned his head in the general direction of it, tongue gracing the air once more. A Nightmare? Hopefully one worth talking to, at the least. He shifted his body against the tree again, rubbing his horns on the smooth bark. "Today must not bring much for anyone, if I do say so myself," he stated, loud enough so that hopefully the other could hear him without much of a problem, "You seem to be wandering- is it our of boredom, or do you have some other goal by doing so?" He wasn't quite in the mood to interrogate the approaching kitsu, having just woken up- he would find out more about this Nightmare in given time.

Vitra pauses, turning his head to the voice. Scenting the air he catches the other nightmare's scent, and turns to walk that direction a few steps. "Boredom indeed. No birds or feathers to stalk out here." He walks a few steps closer again before sitting, deeming his location close enough. "And you?"

Azren nodded, though it made little difference in a conversation between those with no sight. "Indeed. I've merely sleeping the day away here." Rising to his feet, he stretched himself out, a large yawn escaping his maw. "I've seen little that is worth hunting and chasing this day."

"See?" That statement from the other earned a slight laugh from him. "I haven't seen anything in ages.. But, I haven't smelled, or heard anything worthy of being prey since waking." He crosses his paws lightly. "No feathers to pluck in a long long time."

Azren laughed softly, a toothy grin spreading across his face. This one intrigued him, at the least. "I find that I too often slip into using figures of speech- I am Azren," he stated, dipping his head in greeting, "The pleasure is mine."

Vittra nods, as useless as it may be. "I am Vitra, though i would say the pleasure would be in seeing you, our scent tells enough." He laughs under his breath again. "But why were you wasting the day in sleep, a hope that night will bring more prey around?"

Azren's tail flicked slightly as he felt the sensation of an insect crossing it, a toothy grin still across his face. "Exactly." he replied, "And of course- while I roam in the night, all other kitsu lie asleep... it is all to easy to find them in their shoddily-hidden dens."

Vitra cocks his head to the side lightly, thinking. "That does make sense, but I have been told my coat is too visible in the dark anyhow. Perhaps I should test it."

"Well," Azren replied simply, "If you move quietly enough, there is no reason that you should no be capable of hunting in the night. Most normals spend their nights sleeping- if you move silently, they cannot hear your approach." His tail flicked once more, brushing against the grass that was around him. This other Nightmare appeared to be close to himself- with a strong dislike for other races.

"True.. But the feathers are much more amusing to hunt.. Crunching wings is.. satisfying." Vitra grins to himself at the thought, picturing a wing beneath his paw as he steps down hard for emphasis.

"Ahh, yes indeed," Azren replied, a soft, haughty laugh coming from his throat, "They much more fun to hunt- they think they can escape us because they fly above our heads? Hah! The mere thought of it makes me laugh." Blind eyes blinked for a moment, claws digging into the soft loam at his feet. "But I must ask; when was the last time you were able to catch one of those? I know for myself it has been many long moons indeed- they seem to becoming much more wary of our presence these days."

"Since I have tasted feathers? Agesss..." the typical hiss from their species escapes as he thinks about it, digging his claws into the earth. "I witnessed the war and battles between feathers and our kind. Many feathers to taste then. Now, they are scarce it seems.."

Azren nodded silently as the other spoke. War...? Oh, so this one had been alive during the great war between angelics and nightmares. A tad before his time, at the very least. "Scarce indeed... or perhaps they have finally begun to fear us." His tongue flicked out from his jaw, tasting the air about him. And none were nearby, even on such a day. Although he couldn't see it, the nightmare could feel the sun gently warming his dark pelt.
