Walking through the woods, Everhart was unsure of where he wanted to go. Everything seemed so... foreign. Nothing looked familiar. Was he lost? Would he never be able to get home? Terrifying thoughts raced through his mind as he looked around at his surroundings. He tried to keep a calm facade but he knew his expression was giving away everything. Everhart noticed a small stream nearby and began to walk towards it. His emerald eyes were still wary of anything that moved around him even if it was only a small rabbit. Gazing down at the stream, Everhart noticed small fish darting back and forth hiding inside of the water foliage.
Even though at the moment he was terrified, the stallion couldn't help but notice how serene everything seemed right now. Only the sounds of the trickling water reached his ears and it all seemed so beautiful... If only he was somewhere that he was familiar with, everything would be so much better. But he closed his eyes and tried to relax and get the negative thoughts out of his mind.

The woods were certainly one of Delilah's favorite spots to travel. Celarings were too open; she was eays prey for those bigger and faster than her. The mountains were too chilly, and the cold could freeze her delicate wings. She had never even been near the desert to know ti even existed. The forest was simply put her home and where she was most comfortable. She flapped her translucent wings to exert some pent up energy while she walked inher regular form, which was the height of a miniature horse.
The sound of water caught the young mare's attention, and as if on cue her throat felt parched. How silly these things worked! If someone mentioned food or she smelt it, she'd be hungry. If she heard water, she would feel thirsty. A light laugh escaped her dark lips as she headed in the direction, chocolate eyes ahead. When the stream was in sight, she sighed and shook out her mane, hoping to free it of pieces of grass, dirt, and small branches. The troubles of having a floor-length mane. It attracted almost everything!
While shaking it out, her eyes flickered aout to get a better look at her surroundings. They breifly whisked over the blue form of the stallion, but not lingering. Her throat tightened a bit at the thought of having company. Never being much of a social butterfly, she always thought of herself to be a tad awkward in conversations.

Everhart definitely preferred to stick around the woods. It's not that the weather or predators were an issue for him. He just felt... safer when he was slightly covered. He had never felt safe when he was in a clearing so he preferred to stay within his comfort zone. For a few days, he had wandered away from his family and teepee. He couldn't stand them. They were the perfect family and he was the odd one out. Why was he so different than his entire family? It was like he was marring up the entire family tree. It was about time he left anyway...
Turning his head, the stallion noticed a small mare step near the stream. She seemed so small and her wings... were they slightly transparent? He was immediately reminded of an occupant of his teepee, Chitsa. She was small and had butterfly patterned wings. She was such a strange soquili... Everhart wondered if this other mare would be anything like her.
Working up whatever small amount of courage he had, Everhart attempted to start a conversation with her. "H-hello there." He couldn't help but stutter on his first word and he wanted to hit himself for that. Everhart knew that he needed to step out of his comfort zone and start making some friends but it was so hard for him.

The day she had become an adult, she had left home most unwillingly but with the belief that she would be burdening her parents with an adult daughter around. Kazuko and Olivia seemed willing to 'fly the coop', but Delilah missed the company of her teasing bother and her naive sister. They had been a trio, though it seemed it was more of a duo between she and her brother.
The masculine voice forced the mare to look in his direction, the mare carefuly hiding her face slighly with her long mane. She responded back with a smile and a very soft laugh, shaking off her own nerves. "Oh! Good afternoon sir." She peered up at the sky thorugh the canopy, trying to get a gist if it was noon or later. "... Orgood day, I would think," she rambled, not sure of the time of day. She always seemed to lose track of time when she walked.
She turned to face him, and immediatly she felt quite small. Delilah sdidn't even take in the horn or the lion's tail, but the height. She could assume a larger form, where she could stand as tall as a regular mare, but she had not practiced it enough to keep it for long periods of time.

Everhart wished that he was closer to his family. He was just the black sheep and there was nothing he could do about it. He ruined their games for them and was basically a stick in the mud. As much as he wanted to change himself, Everhart couldn't bring himself to really do anything about it. Did he really want to change who he was born to be? He knew what his father would say... but that would just make him even more indecisive. As much as his parents said they were proud of him, Everhart just didn't feel much pride in himself...
The stallion watched the little mare closely. Everhart gave a shaky chuckle. "W-who might you be? M-my name is Everhart." He attempted to give a smile but it almost looked like a wince. What was wrong with him? Everhart could feel the frustration bubbling within him and there was nothing he could do. It would only be time until he finally broke down but he couldn't do that in front of this mare...
He tried to concentrate on other things such as her appearance. She was rather cute and very small. Maybe it was just a thing with soquili with those wings that made them small. He would have to ask Chitsa if he ever went back to the teepee. He hoped that he wasn't intimidating or anything to her...

Delilah shifted uneasily under his gaze, but smiled at his stuttering. So he wasn't a social butterfly either? All the better. She looked away, a little hurt at his wince. Was he offended by her small size? She swallowed, unsure of what to make of it. It'd be rude to just leave him hanging, so she looked bac to him, ignoring his previous action, "Everhart. That's a pretty name," she said, coyly tilting her head as she looked him over. He was quite the brute compared to her lithe, delicate frame. "I-I'm called Delilah," she bowed her head politely, keeping a steady gaze on the stallion.
It was very awkward, and she ended up giggling lightly to loosen her nerves, "I see we are both socially inadequate, if that's the term for it," she rambled a little, taking a few steps towards him as to close the distance a bit. She fluttered her wing a little, glancing at them breifly. Did they interest him? Delilah cleared her throat a little, and spoke once more, trying to find something to fill the gap of silence, "Do you perceive me as a small creature?"

Oh god, this was going horribly. He couldn't imagine the conversation being any worse. His self-esteem was taking a nose-dive into impenetrable depths and he was being dragged down along with it. Everhart's discouraged feeling showed on his expressions; he didn't know how to hide his feelings at all. "I don't think it's very pretty..." He muttered rather inaudibly but hoped that she didn't hear him. "It's quite the p-pleasure Delilah." Everhart attempted to smile again and this time it came out a little better.
Everhart chuckled nervously as she spoke about his inability to converse with others. His eyes glanced over her wings and he thought they were very pretty. They reminded him of a butterfly... delicate and elegant. What a strange question she asked... "Um, somewhat? No offense o-or anything. It's not like it's y-your fault anyway..." His voice trailed off as he finished speaking. He was familiar with a few flutters and they all seemed to be innately small so he was beginning to think it was just those with butterfly wings that were smaller... like he had said, it's not like it's their fault they're small...

This was so awkward! She was thankful for her dark coat, for surely if it had been any lighter her face would be tinted red with embarressment. She kept her eyes on the ground at the awkward silence, though her gaze flickered to him when he mumbled. She couldn't catch his words, but when he spoke once more she was relieved to see him try at a smile. So he wasn't wincing before! He was just... Trying to smile?
She smiled easily towards him, though she showed appreciation easily. Perhaps... if they could get over this awkward start, she could help him smile more easily? She shyly looked own, finding her own question silly. His reponse however, piqued her interest. Not her fault? She'd never heard tha before. Delilah was always quite sure that her small size made other uncomfortable or they felt stronger, larger when with her.
She took a few steps towards him, pondering what to say next, "Everhart?" Se inquired softly, watching his face carefully, "Smile for me, please?" It was an innocent request, or so it appeared.

Oh god. He seriously felt like he was going to die from embarrassment, not because of her though. Everhart could just feel the awkwardness building from this conversation and could feel himself failing at being social. If anything, this was only making him feel worse about himself. For once in his life, he just wanted to make friends.
Everhart didn't think her size made him feel uncomfortable. It was just the fact that he was shy by nature. He was used to be a little taller then average because his father and grandfather were both taller then the average soquili. He watched her features become more focused as she came closer towards him. His initial reaction was to step back but he reminded himself to stay where he was. That was a start...
He tilted his head slightly when she said his name and he stared at her after her request. She asked him to smile? Was there something in his teeth or did he look absolutely horrible when he smiled? Everhart attempted to smile again; this time it turned out better then before but it still looked a little pained. He wasn't sure what to say to her now.

Friend making never came easy to Delilah. She never saw someone more than once, so everyone she really met were simply aquaintances besides her family. Depsite the awkwardness between them, she was feeling slightly at ease knowing the stallion was perhaps a little more socially inept than she was.
She smiled herself when he did, and a faint giggle emitted from her throat, "That's better," she said quietly, watching him attentively. "You don't smile much, do you? You're not relaxed..." She trailed off, glancing downwards, unsure of what to say next. With her siblings she was so much more sociable! She was witty and playful, though still quieter than Kazuko and Olivia. But with others... She was such a shy thing. The mare sighed and fluttered her wings a little, looking towards the stream.
"I can hear crickets chirping." She mused, though the crickets she heard were only mental. She chuckled lightly, her gaze on the stallion. She only meant the gaps of silence beween them were broad, that's all.

Everhart definitely wasn't a little social butterfly. He could feel his self-esteem sinking lower and lower even though he tried to stay positive on the outside. It was getting more and more difficult for him but he was also beginning to feel more relaxed around her. She seemed nice and so far, he hadn't completely made a fool of himself. So that was a good sign. Maybe he wasn't as inept as he thought.
The stallion chuckled nervously but it was a step from getting out of his shell. "N-no. I don't smile that much. I don't quite know why." He paused picking his words carefully, "I-is it that obvious?" He gave an awkward grin.
Everhart stopped to listen to the crickets chirp. "They're chirping b-because they know it's almost springtime. I can already see all of the buds and little flowers. Everything is so much nicer when winter is gone and then you get to see all of the new life. It's beautiful..." That was probably the most he had ever said... to any stranger and as his words trailed off, he realized that. His pride surged slightly as he began to feel better. It would be difficult to get him to say that much again though.

Delilah wasn't social, but she wasn't a social recluse. Was she a butterfly? Well... Kind of. So though quite shy and unsure of herself in this meeting, she wasn't afraid of it. It seemed like she was feeling more and more comfortable as more words were exchanged, but if only he would feel the same way. She couldn't help but laugh lightly at his question, and she nodded, "To be honest, it is. But maybe you'll smile more with me?" It was more of a statement though it ended in the same tone a qestion would. When she meant to flash a smile, she ended up giving a grin due to his. Sure, it looked a little off, but at least he was trying.
The dark mare hadn't expected him to actually point out there were crickets chirping. She had only said it to subtly say that their conversation had long pauses. Now that she strained her ears however, she could hear the little bugs making the chirp sound they were famous for. It was a little surprising to her that the crickets were actually chirping, but what was more surprsing were the amount of words that had come from Everhart. She looked at his face for a moment, her small smile widening.
The most words he had spoken in their conversation, and to be honest, they were quite endearing. She looked down for a moment and released a light sigh which was laced with a small laugh. She looked up and took a step towards the taller male, gesturing behind him. "It is nice, to have the flowers blooming again..." She quieted for a moment and her gaze grazed over the blooming bushes, "So we should enjoy it. S-so Everhart, would you like to walk with me and see?" She flicked her tail as she started to take a step around him, looking up at the stallion for an answer.

Watching her closely, Everhart had a hard time reading other's body language and observing them. He didn't know if she was really laughing or if she just wanted to get away from him as soon as possible. The latter was a much more realistic thought for Everhart. Though, he was surprised when she made a comment about smiling more with her. That was strange... He relaxed his smile so that it didn't look so weird.
When he wasn't with his family, Everhart liked to wander off by himself and listen to the things around him. Because he had a difficult time communicating, he enjoyed listening to nature make all of its strange noises. It made him feel... at ease with himself. It was almost like meditating and he enjoyed doing that a lot.
After he had finished his comment about the crickets, he didn't understand why she was laughing. Tilting his head curiously, he watched her move closer towards him. He made the effort not to move away from her. As she came closer, he really began to notice how petite she was. That was kind of cute...
"S-sure." That was all he could get out as Everhart could feel his nerves getting to him again. The fact that she might want to spend more time with him almost scared him.

Delilah had only been innocent with her comment about smiling. Why wouldn't she want him want him to smile with her? If he didn't, it would mkae her feel like she was bothering him. But also, more practice would probably help the large stallion, since his smiles tended to look a little awkward. Some just had a harder time, that's all. She grew up in a very... Interesting family, energetic would be a good word. Her father as always playful as her brother was, and her sister was extremely naive. So smiling and laughing came very easily to her. But somehow the social part didn't translate very well outside her home.
Delilah politely smiled when he agreed to take a stroll with her. Up close, she felt smaller tha usual. Well of course she was smaller than everyone she met, but she had to crane her neck a little more t get a good look at him. It didn't intimdate her... Much. There was always that lingering idea that somebody could step on her, but they'd have to be blind to do that! If anything, it was much more comforting to the mare, since well, size did matter at times. Being small was great - she could easily hide in certain places others couldn't and she could get away with not being seen by predators hopefully. Being larger however, was probably better in terms of being seen, recognized, and in confrontations.
She paused in step to let him walk beside her, keeping her gaze on him for a lingering moment before looking away, "Do you have a favorite flower?" A simple question, but if he could answer, she would probably feel elated. Anybody who could hold a discussion about flowers she had a feeling she could easily feel comfortable with. She -was- a Flutter, afterall. Some of her days were spent among fields of flowers.

Everhart was feeling a little more relaxed now. Maybe he really needed to interact with others more so that he wouldn't get nervous like this... There were just so many things that could go wrong. He didn't want anything bad to happen to himself or the soquili he was talking to. His family... was the complete opposite of himself. They always made him insecure about himself. They were all outgoing and were good company to be around. They all seemed to have... charisma and charm that everybody liked. Except him.
"A favorite f-flower?" The stallion paused to think about it. "I don't know. T-there are a lot of beautiful flowers." He thought about the different flowers he had seen while he was wandering about. "For some reason, I really like poppies and lilies. But lilies are rare around here... I think I've only seen a few." He paused, "W-What about you?" Again, a rather long sentence from Everhart. For some reason, he was beginning to feel more comfortable around Delilah. Was it really possible for him to change?
His heart rate which was going a million beats per minute eventually began to slow down. This relaxed state he seemed to be in was strange and foreign to him. There were very few times that he actually felt like this and this feeling really only came when he was alone.
