Masturbation is healthy. Why would frequent masturbation help to prevent prostate cancer in men if God hated it?

I'm not really sure about scripture, but I'll look some up.
@ Lethkar: Maybe for guys it's alright. My cousin used to do it, (she's a girl) and she said it always left her feeling sick and wrong. So, sure, maybe it's alright for guys, maybe not. It all depends on your morals. whee Sorry for rambling.

There are many good things that come out of, ah, not-so-good things. Preventing cancer may be one of them, but the ends do not justify the means by which it is accomplished. As for scripture? Let me see... 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have recieved from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. -Solomon was a good dude. I think there's merit in something that is repeated for emphasis. Hebrews 2:18 Because he himself [Christ] suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. -Turn to Christ, because not only was he tempted like we are, but he can and will help you through it. Ephesians 6:10-18, the Armour of God. I have no personal reccomendation for this (I have issues with the Armour), but it is very good for others. If you need help on knowing how to put it on, pm me, and I can give you a hand. 1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." Anything more specific, just ask. If you'd like a paragraph or two instead of bible verses, I can do that, too. smile Christ is standing with you. Don't forget that.

Well, I CAN tell you that my ex-wife just about burned herself out sexually around the age of 16 because of her alone time. After awhile, there was nothing new and nothing fun to it. Put quite a damper in our relationship for some time.
On the other hand, I've never seen it as something to feel guilty about. Of course, I'm of the opinion that you shouldn't spend hours a day searching the net for porn either, but I'm not getting into the porn discussion here. Masturbation is an outlet for desires that are just otherwise going to bottle up and explode in a different way. I mean, we're not getting married at 12 anymore, and kids are starting to hit puberty at 9 and 10 years old. What are they supposed to do until they get married in their late 20's? Ask any middle-aged divorcee. 10 years of sexual frustration is a hard thing to handle.
That's just me, of course. I'm sure there are others wiser on the subject than myself.

Me: It feels good, it's healthy, nothing bad can come out of it, and it's been shown to help prevent prostate cancer in men. But I'm not a Christian. I can understand where you're coming from, I just find it trivial. Plus, I love arguing for masturbation. mrgreen Sex is better, of course, but both are excellent lifestyle choices for the same reasons.

The bible has no clear-cut opinion on this. It's up to debate of whether or not masturbation is a sexual "immorality" or not.

I was under the impression, I was searching for things to help break away from it? Lord. You people need to calm down and take things in context.

I think a better question would be "What causes you to want to masturbate?" When I was younger and had the same problem, I wasn't thinking "This is gonna help lower my chance of prostate cancer!". No, it was usually because I was lusting. Is the act of masturbation a sin? I can't really say if it is sin, but what makes you want to masturbate usually is. You can try to cut the cause out, but that is a very difficult thing to do and almost always requires some type of help. xxxchurch helped me. Just remember, it is a constant, everyday struggle and you are going to mess up. The worst thing you can do is beat yourself up over it. Pray for strength and help, and find someone close or a group of people you can rely on to keep you accountable. Bring it out into the open. If you find yourself being tempted then go somewhere like a coffee shop, book store, friends house, or just for a walk.
