What do you guys think about how the ESRB ratings are handled, whether it be a movie, TV Show, video games, or any type of media? What do you think of how people in general are handling it, as well as how politics are handling them? What are your opinions on this, and what do you think that they should do about ESRB Ratings?
Also discuss how you feel about movies, TV shows, anime, games, etc. getting censored in regions outside of where they originated from, because of the apparent incompetence of how the ESRB ratings are being handled.

I think the system itself is fine... Sometimes the raters are retarded and don't keep things consistent. It seems to be on a more game-by-game basis, and the people who rate it give it a "I feel like this is good for a kid" to a "I'm thinking this is for a teen."
I mean, look at how Age of Conan was treated. I don't mean the rating itself (M) but how they treated violence and nudity. The game is fine as long as you can chop people's heads off and dismember them. Violence galor... Yet, they were originally going to censor a boob... on a succubus. Because people are going to what, walk up, die, and jack off to a digital boob?
Yet with God of War, all of them (even the upcoming PSP game) have nudity, but it wasn't a big issue.
The Age of Conan issue has since been resolved (they're allowing uncensored boobs - yay for nipples) but the mere fact that they had to debate over what an "M" rating is kinda shows that they don't stick to a criteria when rating games. Atleast not in my opinion.

It annoys me that there's tons of games out there that show boobs and nude females... But nothing that shows guy parts. ninja

Did you know that God of War got censored in the Japanese version? It's funny considering all the stuff that Japan's got, and they gave the topless girls in God of War some sort of top that matches to cover their breasts. I thought they were less worried about that stuff over there than it is over here.

It's funny considering all the stuff that Japan's got, and they gave the topless girls in God of War some sort of top that matches to cover their breasts. I thought they were less worried about that stuff over there than it is over here. They may have just felt it was unnecessary. I think the rating system is pointless, really. Who the hell actually reads it? They don't. They just get the game they want.
