(Copied from the March 2008 issue of GameInformer magazine...)Soul Calibur IV
FORCE FED
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...Darth Vader and Yoda squared off against a bunch of buxom fighters armed with...nothing more than steel and magic weapons? Sure it may sound ludicrous, but Namco is betting gamers will flock to Soulcalibur IV to clash lightsabers in the way we falsely assumed Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi would.
But therein lies the rub. The game will not ship with both saber-wielding combatants. Much like it did with Spawn and Link in SC II, Namco will include Vader in the Playstation 3 version and Yoda in the Xbox 360 one. After listening to our 10-minute rant about how disappointed we were about losing the chance to see Vader and Yoda go toe to toe, Namco was nice enough to concede that the second characters may be available for download on the respective consoles at a later date. That's more like it!
Including these two high-profile Star Wars icons creates more questions than Namco had answers for. Does this tangent fit into the Star Wars timeline, or is it a rent-a-character one-off? The latter seems more likely. Like Spawn and Link before them, Vader and Yoda will have their own in-game storylines, but the details remain under wraps. How the hell will any of these characters stand up to the unrelenting strength of lightsabers and the Force? We just can't see a lamer like Voldo, or even a real fighter like Nightmare for that matter, lasting more than two seconds in the ring with a Jedi Master. Fear not, says Namco, there will be a logical explanation for why common swords and spears won't crumble upon impact with the glowing lightsaber blade. Details on how the Force powers will work also remain cloaked. But Namco did make one thing clear - these two Force-wielding juggernauts will fight in a style in total congruence with the Star Wars films.
In addition to showing off its newest cast additions, Namco also let us get some hands-on time with SC IV. The game build was hardly representative of the final product - the finishing moves, stage interactivity, and new attacks had yet to be implemented - but the impressive graphical sheen and responsive combat did more than enough to impress. Each of the three playable characters - Mitsurughi, Cassandra, and Taki - moved deftly and dealt swift blows through the gorgeous lush jungle and pillared Grecian locales that served as backdrops.
We expect Namco to reveal more information about its new Jedi Masters as we move closer to Soulcalibur IV's summer release date. Stay tuned for more information.

It is very cool that Namco included them into the game, but how do you guys think their weapons will work? Me and my cousin was talking, and we thought they would add different color lightsabers for each of the stronger weapon types. How do you think they are gonna do that?
All hail Lord Aurin...

That could be an interesting idea, although I doubt it'll actually happen. They'll probably just have one weapon for those characters.
Really can't wait to play this game, though. Got to get a PS3 first...
All hail Lord Starkiller...

There's going to be a Premium Edition on the same release date. Metal box, extra custom pieces, art/comic book, XL 100% cotton T-shirt, and a tournament package for documenting battles with friends. For those who live in Australia and New Zealand, you get a bonus DVD with 4 HD trailers, 4 posters, exclusive concept art and an exclusive booklet with character biographies. I don't know much about the biographies though, the games already have profiles but the bios may contain their entire story. Obviously available on both consoles. For those who can only afford wii's, I'm sorry, no goods for you.

OK, I just remembered to post that my B-day was last month and I now have a PS3! It's awesome!I have(and have beaten) Army of Two, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4, and Soul Calibur IV: Premium Edition! They are all awesome! I still need to get an ethernet cable to hook up my PS3 with my cpu so I can download the bonus content, but the game is still amazing. Darth Vader is ok and the Apprentice is flat out awesome! Only thing really better about Vader is he has a cooler critical finish move. But as far as sheer effectiveness goes, the Apprentice is the best, with strong attacks, and easy to execute force moves. Also, you can't change their colors or outfits except switching between P1 and P2 skins, however you can swap out their blades for stronger ones AND you can use Ivy's special items to give them a boost. My recommendation for both of them is their final blade, Life Gem: Sun, HP Drain B, and any other strong power-ups you have unlocked for their style. Sadly, you can't use their styles for custom characters. Aside from that, the customization is awesome, the fighting is still fun(though sometimes the computer is cheep on higher difficulties), and the graphics are just beautiful. Deffinitely one of the best fighting games out there, although the story mode is a bit short, even with the fact that you have to play a different one for each character, also the fact that there isn't a Chronicle of the Swords mode is a let down, because if you played SCIII, you'd know that was fun. Deffinitely keep your PS2, because the PS3 I have, though it is an 80g, it isn't backwards compatable with the PS2. Aside from the negative, it's awesome.

I don't care what you guys say: This feels like a simple sellout.
And Galen Marek looks seriously ******** up in the game...

Sellout? Star Wars is the movie that invented merchandising. This is what we're good at, bro!

Star Wars was always Star Wars.
I cannot on hand remember them mixing in with something else.
And, it goes for both sides too. I understand it was for more sales, but it was simply a sellout. I mean, it goes for Halo too since that Spartan chick was in it... I think.
