"Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come." (Matthew 12:31-32 RSV)

I was surfing the web, looking for some new information on Christianity, and I found this verse. The troubling part is, that for a good time, I was not a Christian, however, I was very young (6-9th grade), and I'm certain I probably said some stuff I shouldn't have, concerning God, the Holy Spirit, and Christianity in general. Around this verse, Jesus is speaking of the Pharisees, and how they knew of his divinity, but blasphemed against him anyway. Could he only be talking about them?
Does this mean Jesus really won't forgive Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, if there is repentance? What about those who are really too immature to know what they're talking about? What do you think?

based on what i know and my own experiences...if you feel led to ask for repentence then you most likely have not committed the unforigable sin. what it is saying is if you attribute the gifts and the power of the holy spirit to the devil then you cannot be forgiven. So yes, Jesus will really not forgive you of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. If you are worried that you have done it remember you most likely have not because you feel the need to worship God and love Him and repent of your sins that means the Holy Spirit is still working in your life. Just remember God loves you, and any time you start having thoughts rebuke them and send them back to the Devil, because thats who making you think them. he is accusing you to try and make you fall away from GOD. Don't make the same mistake i did and fall into the trap b/c if you do, if you're anything like me, you'll probably end up depressed and very stressed. PRAISE HIM, WORSHIP HIM, ADORE HIM, AND APPRECIATE HIM!!!!!

PS: FEEL FREE TO PM ME ANYTIME IF YOU WANT TO TALK!!!!

Given your age and God being who He is...I probably wouldn't be overly concerned about this. When you come to the knowledge of Christ then, that makes you accountable and responsible from that point forward.

Repent and keep pressing on towards what is good and right.

"If you are not one of us bad things will happen to you."

like cult creepy
not saying anyone belongs to a cult
but it is still creepy

There'll be none of that talk around here. Let us not insult each other. For those of us who are Christians, we are representing God.

And I affirm what others have said - if God is still working in your life, trust that you have His forgiveness. Live in it. It is easier said than done, but live in it.

who are you talking about?
can't be me as I would think I am far from selfish and miserable

"If you are not one of us bad things will happen to you."
It just doesn't sound right to me
I have a problem with the above; it makes Christianity sound like a cult
and it's not

just in case anyone missed the point of my last post

Hey now. Listen to me and Berezi.

Anyway, I could also say that I don't believe that God doesn't exist, but I don't mean it. That's what the verse is talking about. The Pharisees were fully mature when they blasphemed God, but they didn't know they were blaspheming Him. You have to believe the blasphemy for it to be sin, whether you know it was blasphemy or not.

I also don't believe that there is an unforgivable sin. 1 John 1:9:

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
