So I was sketching out an idea on this notepad infront of me for a little portrait of a lolita. (Also writing "i need a freaking tablet" over and over again on the paper.) So i started up photoshop and began re-drawing the sketch, and so far I like it. But I've come to a point where im not sure what to do with the hair. I like the way it looks (Right now) but I'm not sure if I should continue with the highlights or leave it as is. Or, should I add another layer of highlights just to break up the bigger chunks of hair?
Your help on this would be fantastic. <3

Edit edit: I'm also thinking of showing the rest of the hair instead of having it cut off in the corner like that.
I think thats about as much as im going with the highlights, I still need to add some shadows in the hair though ^^

heres what I would do....Add a layer of stronger highlights and (if you arent planning to do so) a layer of strong shade....that should give the hair a dynamic boost so to speak.....

I like her hair so far (and the flower) - I agree with warrior_of_boognish, though; the hair needs more highlights, and it also needs some darker shadows to make it stand out.
Something else you could easily fix are her lips. Her upper lip is really thin compared to her lower lip, which is really thick. It doesn't really follow the shape of the mouth and kind of bulges out instead.
She also seems to be missing eyebrows, but I'm not sure if that's intentional or if you were going to add them in later or what. Her eyes are real pretty, though, especially the lashes.

Oh yeah, I know the mouth isnt perfect, but that was just a sketch for placement, not the actual placement. smile
