It'd be brilliant. I often do imagine him like that, when I read the books [which are read excessively by me, I might add xD]
I'm not sure what they're doing with Robert Pattinson. He's a british actor, and I'm almost sure they won't make him lose his accent. Though I don't know. So we may have Edward with an English accent. That'd be wonderful. Since he talks so proper and funny anyway.
I'll shut up. xDD

Don't get me wrong, i love british accents (and irish*swoon*) but the number 1 thing i like about Edward is that he's not the tipical vamp that you read in books or see in movies. He wasn't some knight in a kingdom far away.
He's not Euro Sexy, he's 100% pure amican sex! and though i do like me a good UK boy, I LOVE my Home Grown Country Boys.

Well, being English, all the characters have British accents in my head!
Even Bella, and Mike, and Angela, and Charlie... but especially the Cullens. When I imagine them with an American accent, it just sounds SO odd to me!

I'd say no, actually. Edward doesn't strike me as having an English accent. I agree with MysticKoi. Really. British accents are only good with the right type of person. And Edward is not this. Edward is full-on, born-in-Chicago American!
This is going to be interesting, though. I wonder if they will make Robert Pattinson lose his accent.
