Tower locations
Internal
The size and occasionally shape of the tower is known to change at times, leading to occasional confusion among residents. Despite the shifts, rooms maintain their relative location to one another, even when separated by extra floors. The most common shift is a change in the length of hallways or ceiling height. The tower may gain extra floors. These tend to be due mostly to the previously mentioned increase in wall and ceiling height, but may also be due to a local increase in stair length. Occasionally these extra floors may be physical floors, but tend to be made entirely of a hallway or open area, it is almost always impossible to enter these floors due to lack of doors, and forcing an entry is not advised. These extra-floor incidents tend to be caused by the process of magically increasing the volume of a room and usually disappear once it's corrected. In all cases, the stairs change to accommodate this length or may take you to the correct floor, bypassing the extras entirely. It is noted that the tower never becomes smaller than its external physical appearance.
Main office, Dean's office, and faculty offices: This section of offices is located near the front entrance of the tower on the first floor.
The Main office is where general questions can be asked and requests can be made.
The Dean's office is available for those who need to discuss their class schedule or who have been referred for disciplinary actions.
The Faculty offices are divided into sections, with the representatives taking shifts. Those who have questions about a particular field of study can get help and counseling here, although those who need psychological counseling should go to the main hospital on the upper floors. You may also speak with the various sections of tower maintenance and
Ball room: The ball room is actually three sections on the first floor of the tower. One is a cafe area where students can eat at any time of the day, and also contains a stage area where those who wish to perform, may. It is occasionally used as a theater because of this. The second is the ballroom itself, which extends out from the tower. The doors between the two can be completely removed, allowing them to become one area. The third section is a special part of the garden behind the tower which can only normally be accessed from the ballroom. It encloses the area around the entire ballroom except that which is in view of the lake.
Gym: The training area for battle magi, as well as a place to learn combat skills. It is located on the first floor, within quick access of both the emergency ward and the outside of the tower for outdoor training.
Classrooms: Classrooms are spread throughout the tower, located in areas conducive to their subjects. General classes are located on the lower floors with the others mostly located between major facilities. A few are also in their own structures outside the main tower.
Cafeteria: The main eating area of the tower students, it is located on the floor below the library. The ballroom also has an eating area that functions as a cafeteria for the lower floors.
Library: Located here. Although there are several smaller reference libraries on certain floors containing classrooms the main library is located in the center of the tower, both in terms of floors and placement on those floors. It is several floors tall and takes up the majority of the room on the floors it covers, with the other areas being used for transportation and storage. It is much larger on the inside than it would seem to be, which is due to magic destroying the space to accommodate all of its contents, as it has grown beyond its ability to hold all of it's contents within it's physical size. Due to it's size as well as the distortions, only the first and top floors of the library are made reachable by stairs outside of it's area, and these external stairs will lead directly to one another, bypassing all other floors the library occupies. It is speculated that these distortions play a part in the instability of space within the tower.
Dorms: Dorms for those who choose to live within the tower are located in the upper area of the tower, several floors above the library. There are a few on the lower floors, but they are mostly used for faculty such as the medical and construction magi. There are also external dorms on the tower grounds along with other tower related structures, forming a small town along the road between the tower and the nearby city.
Medical facilities: There is a clinic on each floor that there are classes, in case of accidents. The emergency ward is located on the first floor of the tower for easy access by those returning to the tower who may have been injured. The main hospital and extended care unit is located on the upper floors above the main dorms, along with the office of the head of Medicine.
Master's Office: The office of the tower head, located near the top of the tower.
Observatory: Located at the very top of the main tower.
Main hall: Located on every floor is a major hall where a bulletin board is located. This board is the same for all floors and can be changed only by the main office. It contains both important tower info and various messages form students that have been approved by the main office. There are also mundane bulletin boards in the same area for those who would like to leave physical messages. Additionally there are wind lifts that can take you directly to the various floors of the tower. These have been proofed against changes and as such contain the standard floor numbering.
External
Transport - A transporter capable of being used to transport long distances, provided it is night time in both areas and the moon is capable of being visible, even if obstructed by clouds or other things. Permission is generally required for its use, and it should be noted that it is incapable of bringing you back unless you prepare a spell beforehand. It is possible to re-establish a connection to previously traveled places, but it is best to have it known where you are going and a way to communicate. It is STRONGLY advised that you do not use this during an eclipse. Using it during less than a 3/8ths phase is also discouraged.
Caves - Outside of the lab area, the caverns under the tower extend for miles. Discovered as the tower was being built, most areas near the tower have been sealed off, either before hand or as part of the original construction. It is unknown what they were for and, in fact, seem to have had many uses, both mundane and magical. In recent times, there have been attempts to explore these areas, but those who are not part of the construction team should not wander off into them as they are generally completely dark and easy to get lost in even for those who can see. Make special note not to interfere with sealed areas, as they may be part of the towers foundation. If anything unusual is found in the caves, alert the construction team for proper assistance.
Garden area: Although there are several gardens around the tower, the rear of the tower holds the largest and mostly decorative garden. At the edge of this garden, bordering the forest is a large lake.
