From slightly higher up in the mountains Seraphina was echoing Takako's discomfort. "Alex, what are we doing up here?"

"Come on!" Alex grinned looking around the cave. "You were the one complaining about being bored. I found us something to do and it's even educational." He padded closer to the cave walls, admiring how they sparkled. "Man, I bet those jewel crafters would kill for some of the rocks in these walls."

"Yeah..." Seraphina agreed stepping up beside him to study the shinning stones. "Wow, they're really beautiful."

Seraphina stilled, glancing over at Alex. "Did you hear that?"

"Um...you mean did I hear a blood curdling scream come from deep with in the caves?"

"Yeah."

"Nope," Alex said quickly looking away.

"Alex!" Seraphina hissed. "What if someone's hurt?"

"What if something wants to eat us?"

"Oh please..." Seraphina muttered padding deeper into the cave. "Men are such babies."

"Hey!" Alex yelped chasing after the pegasus. "Wait for me!"

"Oh, now you want to come with me?" Seraphina called back over her shoulder.

"Well, here's how it works," Alex explained catching up to walk along side her in the darkening cave. "See, I go back without you and it's only a matter of time before I run into your mother, your aunt, or god forbid Dimitri..."

"Can we talk about something else," Seraphina interrupted. "Like, why can't you be useful and make fire or something like that so we could see better?"

"Oh, strike a nerve did I?" Alex grinned, secured in the knowledge that there was no way Seraphina could see the expression in the dark. He yelped in pain and surprise when her hoof came out of the dark to kick him in the shin. "Ow! What the hell was that for!?!?"

"You were laughing, don't bother denying it, I can tell," Seraphina said simply and kept walking now relying on her hooves to find her way, trekking carefully over the rocks.

"There it is again," Seraphina whispered hearing another cry echo through the cavern. "Someone's hurt!" Instantly her protective instincts flared up and she began moving more swiftly through the darkened cave calling out, "Hello?"

"Seraphina!" Alex called after her trying to keep up. "Seraphina, slow down! You can't even see where you're going..."

"Hello?" Seraphina called out again, louder this time. "Is someone there? Are you alright?" She could only wonder why no one answered her back.

"Seraphina, slow down!" Alex called again trying to keep up with her, but it was difficult over the rough and unseen terrain. "You don't even know where you're going!"

Seraphina groaned outloud. "You have got to be kidding me..." What is he doing here? "Dimitri, I can be anywhere I want to be, it's called free will!"

"Dimitri, are you alright?" Alex called into the cave. "We thought we hear someone scream?" He winced as soon as the words were out of his mouth. That's right, because we want to let the vampire know we heard a scream in the cave...a scream that probably came from... Alex forced his thoughts to stop, not wanting to delve any deeper. Why was this guy interested in Seraphina?

"Takako?" Alex repeated. Takako was here? In the cave? With Dimirti!?!? Well that changed everything. "Stay right there!" he called pushing in front of Seraphina. "We're on our way!"

"Alex!" Seraphina hissed not wanting to go any further. The prospect of being in a dark place with Dimitri...it nearly scared her to death. At least, she thought it was fear she was feeling.

"Takako is hurt," Alex hissed back. "So shut up and move it, Seraphina!" He started making his way through the cavern as quickly as his legs would carry him. "Alright, where are you guys?" he called out again. "It's pitch black in here, we can't see a thing."
