Vulcan looked to the sky, grinning as he flicked his hair from his eyes. The stallion slowly flapped his fire wings, letting sparks fly and rest onto the damp grass from the melted snow. He walked along the edge of a river, enjoying being away from others. Vulcan was a personable stallion, full of life, but often times he didn't care for large groups. He looked to himself in the water.
One on one was so much better.
Anyway, it wasn't like he had anywhere too be. He had his father's herd, sure. But he had never really connected with them. The stallion had never met his mother, but he knew that he had a mother and a sister, and he knew that he had gotten his flames and the orange part of his hair from his mother, and a certain aspect of his personality.
But most everything else? That was from father. Weather that was a good thing or not...well, that was up to one's opinion. But to Vulcan? That was pretty good.

Del'nal ran across the melting snow with her wings spread out. She loved the feeling of the wind of her wings and liked to glide a few inches above the ground but she had never learn to fly with her wings. In all honesty she usually forgot she had those side appendages. So when she actually did remember she had them she let herself glide instead of run. Though today she wanted to do more then just glide over the ground. She wanted to glide over the river.
Coming quickly up on the river's edge she jumped up in the air, pulling her legs up so they did not touch the ground, and started her glide across the river. She had never attempted anything such as this and she was unsure if she would even make it across. Halfway over the river now and she was starting to lose speed. Am I going to make it? the mare thought. Now only a quarter of the way to go and her hooves were starting to dip into the water.
Then at the last second her front hooves touched the river's bank. Del'nal's back end did end up in the water but she pulled herself up and out using her front hooves to pull her up. She had made it and she was ecstatic. Though now her hind end was freezing cold but it was worth it. She failed to notice that she most likely had a bit of an audience not far from where she landed.

Vulcan's ear perk, and he turned around. A mare, who seemed incredibly excited, 'flew' across the river. She only barely made it, which puzzled him. The stallion's whole family was quite obsessed with flight, and he had been taught to as soon as he was able to. However, he usually preferred walking. His wings, being made of fire, weren't particularly effective, and could only go for a bit.
"Very well done, darling" he said, looking at the mare who seemed to be just regaining her composure. "Although, I should have you know that if you were to flap your wings, you may be able to avoid that bit of moisture" he said, chuckling "Unless that was your intention, in which case, I apologize for my ignorance"
The stallion moved forward to the area where the mare was. He had never met an adult mare outside of his family group. He had met fillys before, but they were much different. Clearly.

Del'nal spun around slightly startled. Someone had seen her near failure? She couldn't help but blush and was glad her coat was dark so it could not be seen. The mare was normally quite talkative but for some reason having the stallion view what she had just done made her quite shy all of a sudden.
"I uh wha? Flap wings? What exactly is uhh flapping?" she asked with a bit of a stammer. She looked at the stallion and couldn't help but let her gaze fall on his wings. They were unlike any wings she had ever seen before. The wings also seemed alive. "Your wings look really pretty." her moment of shyness forgotten for the time being.

Vulcan let out a low chuckle, observing the mare become flustered, perhaps out of embarrassment. Or maybe she simply was not the social type, and he had caught her by surprise, which was certainly a possibility. Either way, she seemed a nervous.
"Flapping? Sweetie, you're a wind soquili, certainly you know what flapping is" he said, giving her his best grin, and moving his own wings up and down. "You just move them like this" he said. "Only, of course, in the air. My wings aren't quite as strong as yours, but I can fly small distances" he said. "But I don't honestly care for it much, it's quite....windy" he said.
The stallion's grin widened on the compliment too his wings. They were one of his own favorite features. "Why thank you, my lady. Feel free to look, although I do not recommend touching them. They are quite hot" he said with a nod. "But they keep me warm"

Del'nal looked at the stallion curiously as he 'flapped' his wings. Flapping seemed more like an annoyance then a thing for flying. She tentatively spread her wings out and moved them up and down just barely making them 'flap'. Deciding she didn't like it she pulled her wings back into her side. "Nope don't know what flapping is and don't know if I care for it." she said with an affirmative nod her shyness now gone.
The mare focused on her acquaintance's wings sorely tempted to just touch them. Wings couldn't be hot. Right? Her curiosity got the best of her and she nosed his wing just barely. "Ow!" she jumped back away from him her nose now feeling sore. "How is that possible!? Wings aren't suppose to do that?!" Now not only did she have a sore nose but she also was very confused. Wings shouldn't be able to do that.
