 The day seemed average; light creeping in through the canopy, dimly warming the few blotches it managed to grasp. A light mist hung below, covering the forest floor from the naked eye. A few adult Sentinels flitted about, preoccupied by either students or their own business, leaving a young ghost male to tend to himself.
Crawly grunted, swirling around on his branch like a trapped Mus. One could only imagine what had annoyed him. It wasn't exactly a rare sight; the fledgling seemed to always have something on his mind, grumbling this, or annoying that. Although it seemed like today, the young creature happened to be slightly more adjusted.
"All you stupid Volans!" the young Sentinel spewed at the world, twisting around and hobbling to another branch. "All your crazy expectations…HA!"
The woods seemed to echo below, almost mimicking a response. Crawly clicked annoyed, allowing himself to 'puff' into a more defensive stance.

Winter opened her eyes and looked around the tree. It had seemed Liam was busy elsewhere. She stretched out her wings still getting use to barely being able to fly. She flapped them a few times. "One...Two...Three and repeat." She said to herself as she continued with her excerise. When satisfied with her morning exercises she decided it was time to find something to eat. She flew off the branch not as gracefully as she intended. Winter hadn't gotten to far before hearing someone saying something raither intresting. She peered around then landed on the branch above Crawly. She remembered him. Raither annoying lil thing. Thou she did feel bad for him that one Sentinel did take a strange liking to him and left up on a raither high branch. Just to be snatched up by another Sentinel. She looked down at him. "Wha is your problem??"

And far away, though not as far as some would think, was the home of Ename. Unmistakable in it's grandeur and uniqueness, the old oak creaked and groaned as it's lone occupant flapped from branch to branch, mashing berries here, turning drying leaves there, it was a veritable hive of activity for one Sentinel. The bird in residence cackled to herself as she Willed a thin band of grass to wrap and bind several fresh leaves to a curved part of one branch. They would dry into the shape with luck, ready for use in her craft. That done, she approached the main body of the tree, and with a quick yet customary glance around shifted the odd mask that made her normally appear an alarming face-less being to one side, revealing part of her face to see better. A rock drifted into the air nearby, and with a resounding crack slammed against the tree, gouging a thick strip of bark off.

Crawly's head swiveled backwards, slightly listening to the young mist's words, although mostly preoccupied with his own with his own ego-centric needs. He remained silent for quite some time…something that seemed off for the normally rambunctious and generally troublesome creature, before opening his developing wings and somehow managing to climb (with a mad series of wild flaps) up to the same branch as Winter.
"My problem…?" the ghost finally responded after another long awkward silence. He chuckled, hobbling around until he faced away from her. "Ahhh, where should I star…-" he stopped abruptly after hearing Ename's work, head turning to face Winter, however body remaining stationary.
"Was that you?" He asked brusquely, a queer disturbed look plastered upon his face.

Winter blinked at Crawly. "No!! That came from that direction." She pointed towards where Ename's tree would be. "Why do you look so spooked? Have you heard that sound before? Cause I think I have heard it before. But it was only when you were around." She vaguely remembered the sounds that Ename had made the day she kidnapped Crawly from the tree they were all sitting on. She looked around the two of them. "We are the only ones here. Nobody else is around. I think we are safe." She peered into his face. "So wha is you problem?"

"What?" Crawly squeaked, looking at her, then at the direction she pointed, allowing another odd look to escape him. "No…no, I'm pretty sure that came from you." He responded, more trying to convince himself than her. Grumbling, he wished not to revisit such memories, and rather than continuing the subject, he allowed his feather to fluff until he appeared nothing more than a pile of feathers.
"Mmmm that's what she'd like us to think," the young creature whispered after allowing some time to pass. "We're never safe…-" his voice lowered, and the ball off fluff leaned in closer to her. "-She's always here…"

Ename was (luckily for the fledgies) oblivious to those nearby as she continued to carve away, her strokes with the rock much quieter now that the bark was removed from the area. She continued to click her beak and scratch at her perch with her talons as she worked, but not a word passed from her. Leaving the rock to continue carving, she fluttered over to the next closest branch and began slowly crushing berries in her talons, staining her foot a deep red, but coming up with a rich staining juice. She soaked her foot in it a moment more before heading back to where the mask was slowly taking place. With a broken chuckle she began dabbing the dye on, smearing one thick 'eyebrow' over the one finished sight-hole.
"...Little wiggly sssimpering one with the eyebrowssss ssssshould vissssit again ssssooon..."

Winter rolled her eyes at Crawly. "I am most certain I did not make that noise." She ruffled up her feathers quite annoyed with him. She was about to say some choice words to him and stopped. "Who is always watching??" She peered at Crawly ruffling up even more. Hopefully whoever it was was not there now. She stopped again listening. "That noise is coming from that direction." She pointed a wing again towards Ename's tree. "But its not so loud any more." She looked off into the direction she had pointed wondering what was making that noise. She had heard it before but who had made it.

Grumbling, and quite annoyed that the other Fledgling would not even try to humour him; Crawly decided to at least consider the idea that it was not her who was making the noise. He was rather uncomfortable with the alternative however, causing him to remain in his ruffled state, muttering random hateful words.
"Are you sure…?" The ghost asked again, a more terrified tone this time. Golden eyes watched behind the mass of feathers, and his head shook from side to side as he followed the direction of her wings once again. "It…it can't be." He shuffled slightly, in some futile attempt to further himself from the noises…although ultimately just looking rather silly.
"That…that's…her tree…" he hissed.

Winter started to look raither concerned. "Who's tree is it?" She peered towards the tree. She spotted the raither strange Sentinel. "Ohhh my feathers!!! It's that creepy old bird that stoled you that day!!" She ruffled up as far as she could ruffle up and huddled next to Crawly. "What does that old cot want with you any ways?" She looked at Crawly. "Maybe we can find a place to hide before she notices we are over here!! I certainly do not wanna be around that freaky bird!!" She grimaced remembering where that sound had been heard before. It was the day that crazy Sentinel took off with Crawly. "Come on." She coaxed at him as she started to scramble looking for a place where they could hide.

Ename was pleased. The newest addition to her tree was nearing completion, the stern face of the bushybrows owl peering out of the wood almost as if he was really trapped in there. She settled the rock back in it's place and flapped over to one of the many branches coated in drying leaves. She unbound a few and looked them over, tossing aside one or two that had ripped in the process. Finding two of near equal size and color, she took them back to the carving. Setting them beside her she willed up a much smaller rock, this one shaped more like a borer than her previous chisel-style rock. With deft movements she flicked the rock twice at the tree, making small grooves in the cheeks of the owl-face. The rock was replaced and she leaned forward, inserting the butt-ends of the leaves into the grooves, making it look like the owl-look-alike had eerie hands reaching across its face.
"Looovellyy..." Ename hissed, then stiffened. With alarming accuracy she turned, sliding her mask back into place just as one golden eye fell on the fledglings. "..." She locked them in her gaze, holding them there as she seemed to ponder what to do. And then, "...Ssssneeeeeakin'....Little ones come sssssneeeeeakiiin'...Come closer small ones, I'm not going to eat you.."

Crawly watched the tree for quite some time, ignoring Winter's questions and watching the tree like a Lani, and nearly breaking out in shivers when he saw the faint outline of life. His eyes remained fixed upon the area, although his mind drifted after one of the other Fledgling's questions. I don't know…I must be tasty or something…, his mind whispered in response, despite being far too terrified to say anything physically. In fact, the normally feisty creature was far too petrified to even notice as she huddled against him.
"There's no were we can go…" He finally managed to mutter to her, his voice then lowering drastically. " She will eat you." With that, the young sentinel began to hobble away…to him at drastic speeds…but to anyone else…a sad pathetic attempt.

Winter let out a horrible screech. "I DON'T WANNA BE NOBODYS DINNER!!" She started to take flight then stopped hearing Ename's strange voice. "OHHHHH SHE SPOTTED US!!" She stood frozen starring at the strange old bird. She let out a long pitiful wail. "I DON'T WANNA BE DINNER!! I WANT MY DADDY LIAM!!" She started to run back an forth on the tree branch nervously.

Ename had to admit to herself it was amusing, watching the youngsters of Noctua panic under her gaze. Of course, both of these little ones seemed quite healthy. There was no reason for her to eat them. Hrrrm. The one was yelling. Loudly too. That was not only improper, but irritating too. Well. She'd have to put a stop to that. She hopped to a branch with a small impression in which seemed to be steeping a mix of crushed blackberries and...was that a little paw? And a tail? Yes, the other bit was a mash of mus. All of it seemed to be floating in an odd red liquid...blood maybe? Without a thought she gathered a talon full and launched herself silently from her perch. She dropped to land beside Winter and promptly jammed the mix into her beak.
"Ssssilence..." She chattered, before pouncing to land firmly in front of Crawly. "...Eyebrowssss..."

Winter stops beak full of whatever then gags. What was that strange old bird trying to do to her. She swallowed down the mess then peered at Ename. That was raither yummy whatever it was. She blinked suddenly thinking and blurting out. "Why you trying to fatten me up?? Are you really gonna try an eat me?? Wha I ever do to you to deserve such a fate?" She started crying softly. She would never see her Daddy Liam again.
