It was relatively easy to escape from Mother's watching eye lately. Perhaps it was becuase they moved next to where their 'Aunt' Kizuka lived, and she was spending less time watching over them like hawks.
Kimbi was bored, and wanted to go out. But, being the shy boy that he was, it seemed that most of his sibilings might of already gotten the urge, and he was sitting in their cave all my himself.
He stuck his little tan head out, trying to see if anyone was around. "Yikes!" He winced, the sun shining right in his eyes, temporarily blinding him. He stumbled out of the cave, tripping over little bits of nothing before stumbling onto his belly. He squeaked a bit before shaking his head, trying to be able to see again.

Amisha's back quivered happily as the warm sunlight shifted onto it. She let out a heavy breathe and looked out over the bright landscape, very content with the world at the moment. Her mother had become much less overbearing lately, and it was a relief to find some peace and quiet.
Or, not.
Amisha's ears perked up and she quickly looked as someone yelled "Yikes!", only to see her smallest brother come tumbling out of the cave. She shook her head, though couldn't help but smile a little bit. She walked over to him and brought her face down closer to his. "You ok, little brother?" she asked, her head tilted.

Kimbi's eyes finally were able to focus, and the first thing that he was able to see was...his sister's face!
"Aaahhh..." well, that was certainly something he wasn't expecting. He blinked a bit, drawing his head back to his body, almost like a turtle. "I'm okay." He looked around, and while he heard noises, he didn't see anyone else.
"I just didn't realize it was so bright today!" He dared to take a look up at the sun, only to get blinded again with it's bright rays. Eeek! Someday he'd learn. He shook his head again before looking at his sister again.
"Where is everyone? Do you know, Amisha?"

Amisha let out a little giggle as her brother continued to glance at the sun. She'd always been very fond of him, and even though they were the same age, looking out for him was something she wanted to do. It wasn't a sense of duty or responsibility, but just something she wanted.
Amisha turned around to face back out towards the land in front of their cave home. She looked out at the horizon before turning her head back to Kimbi and shaking her head. "No, I haven't seen them in a while. They must be off exploring...."
Her eyes subconciously rolled with that last word. Exploring- getting into mischief- same difference.

Kimbi took the time to rub his eyes while Amisha was talking, making sure that all the sun's rays had gotten out of his eyes. He thought that once they got in your eyes, they did their best not to get out until you shook 'em or rubbed 'em out. Good thing for him that wasn't true, or he might be stuck blinded with them!
"Oh." The word exploring instantly made him think of Ku'i. "I bet Ku'i is off exploring without me, then. Last time we found leaves to jump in, but then had a bird yell at us," he rambled, giggling at the end of his comment. It wasn't funny then, but now it did, since he had been covered in leaves, getting a lecture from a little bird.
"Do you not like explorin', Amisha? Sometimes it's fun but....sometimes it's kinda scary..."

Amisha tilted her head at the question. "Well... I dunno, I guess..." Her already pink face was rosy at the cheeks. "I want out to that bush yesterday" she said softly as she motioned with her paw to a shrub about 25ft away. She'd found a centipede under the bush, but that seemed lame compared with Kimbi's fun bird story.
She loved her little brother, but didn't like feeling out-done by him either, though she was too young to understand why. She bit her lower lip as it started to quiver. "Guess I'm not very good at it."

Kimbi looked over at the bush, and then back at his sister. He...didn't quite get it, but in his mind, sure, that could count for exploring!
"Nooo!" he exclaimed, bouncing a bit with a goofy grin on his smile. "You just can't go by yourself! Ku'i was the one who kinda made me go explore, she's really brave." He admired her for that, since everything would spook him at least once. "Plus she was the one who kinda chased that bird away. But yeah!" He forgot his thoughts for a moment. "Uhh....but it's more fun if you go with others!"
He never really thought that a buddy system would make exploring better with two cubs, since if anything ever happened, there would be one to go get help. But Kimbi still had never crossed something dangerous, and so the thought of anything scary happening that wasn't out of being startled was foreign to his mind. The Mistweaver jungle was still a fairly safe place for the cubs, especially in the heart of the lands.

"Oh..." Amisha said softly. She didn't know that. No; really. She didn't know that! Maybe there was some sort of unspoke code of exploring no one had told her about. In any case, it kinda made sense. I mean, she'd never seen an ant exploring by itself; they were always together! They must have known it all along. She looked at her brother and let out a little smile.
"But it isn't safe, right? 'Else Ku'i wouldn't go there." Yes, she was sure her sister would never lead them into any sort of danger. Oh, Amisha. You mean well, but the word "naive" happens to feature you along side it in the dictionary...
Amisha quickly glanced at the jungle, then back at Kimbi excitedly. "D'you remember where you want explorin'? Was it pretty?" she asked, her little smile becoming bigger.

"Ku'i wouldn't ever take any of us anywhere dangerous," he hummed. His sister was a bit headstrong, sure, but she would never do anything against them on purpose! He equally could be called naive, but he'd probably always be that way.
He shook his head sadly. "No, I don't remember." They had gone exploring before the 'move', and so it would be hard for his little mind to remember it. "It was before the rains too, or whatever Mama's been talking about lately, so I bet it's prettier than it was before. Everything was kinda brown before the rains came back." Maybe rain made things green?
"But I bet there's other pretties explorin' areas around here!" he added on, hoping that his sister would perk up at that. Yeah, yeah!
