***Rules*** 1. Gaia ToS and Guild Rules, duh 2. No godmodding…period. Nobody’s perfect. 3. Romance is okay, but it must be kept to PG-13 or lower 4. Semi-literate to Literate roleplay, here. Absolutely NO: ** or ~~ for actions. (()) for out of character. “” for talking. 5. PM me with the title Wasteland 6. Fighting is fine. In fact, fighting is great. Killing is fine too. If you’re the character who gets killed, you just wake up in The Hotel again. 7. Each Player may have up to two characters. 8. Please don’t use any on these colors! I can't see them! People don’t have to be restricted to a single color, but if you have two characters, they at least have to have different colors from eachother.

***Storyline*** Welcome to The Wasteland: the terrible world between worlds, inhabited by all sorts of terrifying beasts and the occasional human. It abducts people from the real world and drops them here, putting them through the ultimate test. People wake up in The Hotel and are each given a special charm. This charm has a strange number on the back and protects them from the beasts that lurk outside The Hotel. But The Hotel has plenty of rooms, and never runs out of supplies. The help is nice, and everyone is welcoming and charitable. Why would you want to leave? The Oasis. A lush, green paradise set in the middle of The Wasteland. It is home to beautiful plant and animal life, and has all of the things you could ever want. And did I mention that if you find The Oasis, you live forever? And it’s easy enough to find: just go straight south from The Hotel, walk for about eight days, and don’t make any turns. Don’t trust your surroundings; just keep walking south, because if you stray from the path, there’s something a lot worse in store for you. The Dream Zone: a trick of the mind and light. It looks just like The Oasis from afar, but up close, is revealed to be the worst place imaginable. You’re welcomed in and pampered to your heart’s content, only to be betrayed, tortured to please the citizens of The Dream Zone. You’re their entertainment. They like watching you die. The Citizens, AKA "Dreamers": These creatures are the embodyment of your greatest fears and nightmatres. They can take whatever form suits you, and cannot be killed. The only way that they can be stopped is to cause more pain to their physical form than any creature could possibly stand, and even then they are only disrupted for a short while. The more people that ar combatting the dreamers, the more they are. Dreamers are not specific to the person whose fears they embody, anyone can fall victim to any dreamer. This is the world of The Wasteland: the content of The Hotel, the unlimited pleasures of The Oasis, the horrifying despair of The Dream Zone, and the desolation of everything in between. And there’s only one escape. The Phone Booth. If you find it, you have the chance to go home, back to your original life, back to your families and friends. If only you know your phone number. And there’s another problem: The Phone Booth only stays in one place for one minute at a time. After that…it’s gone.

Sex: Male History: Wes grew up in Denver, and fell in with the wrong crowd at an early age. he was always at odds with his parents, and by age 16, left home one day, and just never came back. He was recruited by a small-time gang and drug ring shortly thereafter when he beat a group of three of their members in a brawl they had started to try and get him to go away so they could make a deal. He stayed with the other members, or broke into vacant apartments. After two years of that life, he was betrayed by his fellow gangmates, and left for dead alone in the territory of a rival gang. That night he was beaten until he lost consiousness. it was the last time he ever slept. The next morning he woke up, still battered and bruised, in the hotel. He was told of the Phone Booth, but quickly lost interest. he had no intention of going back where he came from. The Oasis, on the other hand, peaked his interest immediately. He set out for it, and less than three days after departing, wandered into the traps of the Dream Zone. There he spent 5 years as the plaything of the creatures that inhabited the Zone, his charm keeping him from losing consiousness. He finally escaped, and returned to the hotel, and now has trouble venturing more than 2 miles away from there. Charm: An earring that makes him constantly in a state of perfect awareness, unable to sleep or be affected by drugs of any nature. Quote: Gaia name: DemonDays2 Character name: Cameron Davids Age: 18 Appearance: Cameron is about 6 feet tall, has curly brown-blond hair and blue eyes. He has no distinguishing features, and his face is fairly generic, if not a bit rounded. He wears a white t-shirt, with a compass on the front and a map of the world on the back. The map is old, about from the 16-1700s. There are the words Cozumel over the compass. There are the words Del Sol under the map. The designs are in black and white but get color in the sun. Also wears a pair of black jeans, with a hammer loop on the side and a side pocket. Wears dark grey skate shoes, with camo laces. Sex: Male History: Davids had a fairly normal childhood, with a slight twist. He was born in New Orleans, moved to Niagara Falls, and moved back to New Orleans. At the age of 5 he moved to Niagara Falls. At age 10 he got into martial arts, mainly judo. At 14, he also started studying Chow Gar. At 15, his family moved back to New Orleans. At age 16, he bought his first car, an old Holden WB ute. At 17, he got into target shooting, and bought his first .22. At 18, he was sitting in his room, finishing up some homework, cleaning his .22, and added some bits to a story. When he fell asleep, he woke up in the wasteland, unsure how he got here. Charm: A small cog with an odd serial number behind it. They have the power to give him very fast reflexes, but he never attributed this to the cog, He thought he was just lucky. Quote: Gaia name: Anex de Great Character name: Joanna "Jo" Kirkland Age: 19 Appearance: 5'3", 120lbs, Jo has always been on the petite side. Although, she has disproportionately large feet that are the cause of much stumbling and tripping. She has mid-back-length, curly hair that is a very dark brown with a red tint. Her complexion is darker, due to her Native American roots. She has striking grey eyes that send chills down many peoples' spines. Sex: Female History: It stumped Jo, at a very young age, why other kids could have new backpacks every new school year and she had to use the same one. It never made sense why she had to wear the same pair of jeans until they were so tattered, it might not be legal to wear them any longer. It was confusing when her mother told her that there was no dinner because she was too busy to get groceries. When she grew older, Jo began to realize that she was poor. Her mother cared for her on her own. She had no father to speak of, and got the feeling that her mother didn't care to speak of him either. Her mother worked as a waitress and a maid full-time, but ends bearly met. Despite that, Jo excelled in school. She found that where others struggled, she blew by with ease. This only proved to frustrate her, though, when her mother couldn't cough up the money to go to any of the summer learning camps. More frustration and anger came when Jo had to skip field trips and other learning opportunities due to a lack of extra cash. Her pride was just too strong to let her ask the school for money. So one day, with the threat of being left behind again on her mind, Jo snagged the manilla envelope with all the field trip cash in it. Thus began her career in thievery. She started out with small things, like the field trip money. And it was only out of necessity. But challenges were soon provided by thievery, and Jo loved nothing more than a challenge. It soon became an addiction: Can I steal something more valuable than last time? During a heist, that of a very successful jewelry store, Jo tripped an alarm. Scrambling with what she had, an on-foot, in-the-air, and car chase followed. It seemed like she was going to get away. But then, a pedestrian (or so she thought) pulled out a badge and gun simultaneously. Jo didn't remember the command to freeze, or even the pain. Just darkness. Charm: A golden pocket-watch that (if nothing else) keeps track of time in this godforsaken timeless wasteland, as well as alarming the holder when something/one is nearing with ill intentions. Quote: Gaia name: horselover1009 Character name: Thorn Age: 22 Appearance: ThornSex: female History: Thorn was a blacksmith's daughter who kept herself from getting attached to anyone or anything. She constantly argued with her parents about various things. When she was 14 her father died and she took up his profession to help out her mother. By the time she was 16 she had become as skilled as her father ever had. Her mother had been seriously ill for awhile and finally lost her life to the illness. Thorn left her home town to get away from her old life. A year later she was with a gang of thieves going from town to town stealing whatever they could get their hand on. On one mission to steal from a very rich family they got in over their heads and they were all caught except for Thorn. When news got around to other groups she was hunted down like a rat for betraying her group. She was beaten until she was lost conciseness . When she awoke in the hotel and has been there ever since not once wanting to go back to her old life. Charm: Her neckless lets off a powerful ora that gives her amazing fighting capabilities no matter what she has to fight with. Quote: Gaia name: AlisynLuffsJapan Character name: Iris Greene Age: 17 Appearance: 5'3", 110 lbs. (Iris is a late bloomer, and just recently started putting on major weight, thanks to her ultra-fast metabolism.) She has skin more on the pale side, but also (formerly) short, light red, wavy-ish hair that she has eventually let grown down to her waist. If she's feeling like making any effort, she'll put it up into some crazy hairstyle, but otherwise she'll just leave it as it is. Or maybe a ponytail occasionally. She has dark green eyes. Iris often wears cutish clothes but will really wear just about anything. Sex: Female History: Iris always wondered if she was just a bit mentally retarded. For she never seemed to see things the way other people did. She was often a blonde and a bit slow, but her grades in school were saved by her astounding memory (which only works if she calls on it) and her amazing test-taking skills, and so she was known as a smart girl. To her friends, Iris was an adorable girl who never grew up past the age of 12 (which Iris sincerely wishes was true). She could always cheer people up, because she was too awkward to be serious. She just acted crazy and made jokes about everything. She is led by emotions. But then there was her total opposite side, the one that had grown up too fast. This side's emotions were easily affected by the littlest things, most of them negative, which lead to her thinking in a very depressed manner that would have shocked her friends. But despite as it would appear, this side is ruled by rationality, which is why her two sides are always at war. She thinks of life as pointless because people will always be terrible to each other, and her perfectionism can't deal with that. And trying to be perfect all the time--the perfect friend, the perfect daughter, the perfect person--discourages her so much that she just wants to quit. Why am I talking more about her personality than her actual history? Well, her uneventful life in a small suburb has much less to do with her history than the constant war she led against herself, fighting against growing up with all her will. One night, normal as ever, Iris was cursing the way of things that would ruin the happiest of moments. She went to sleep...and woke up in the hotel. Iris tried to enjoy her time there...a chance to start over and fix her messed up point-of-view on life. Yet there was absolutely nothing to do in that freaking place. Not many days after arriving, she retired to her room and rarely left, talking to no one. She spent her time thinking, and then dedicated herself to more amusing pursuits, like observing the actions of the other residents, or just being silly and laughing at herself. But even with this, her childish, happy self has gone a bit rusty without the cultivation from her old friends. Charm: A hairtie she normally wears around her wrist as a bracelet. It gives her the ability of absolute silence, no breathing, no footsteps. Which she likes...as a child it always amused her to sneak around, especially for midnight snacks and such. The only drawback is that she still is visible during these sneaks. Quote: Gaia name: Flamingchickens Character name: Paris Misers Age: 15 Appearance: 5’5”, thin built, pale skin. His hair is mostly golden with a few spots of brownish strands that are visible. The shimmering hair is cut above the neck at the back, but long at the front, covering up his eyebrows completely. His emerald green eyes are perfectly framed by the bangs and even though he tends to look down they are very noticeable. His attire seems to be an entire size too big as he wears a light blue turtleneck sweater with look bundled up around his neck and is roll up in a big clump so he can see his hand. The bottom of his sweater goes way below his wrist only a few inches away from his knees. He’s jeans are also roll up but not as much as his sweater and the pants are a dull silvery gray color. It’s difficult to see his shoes but they are just regular plain white running shoes that look very underused. Sex: Male History: Paris is the middle child of his family so he always felt as if he was not as important or as great at his other siblings, being constantly compared to his older sibling. He often but not intentionally was interrupted in mid-conversation at home and he feels like he doesn‘t exist sometimes. He bullied at school and has been bullied ever since he was very young. He’s only known friends are his younger sibling and Loraine, his stuffed teddy bear that he always carrying around. He was trapped in a cabinet in the Janitor’s room by his school bullies. He doesn’t know how or when it happened but when he dozed off to sleep he woke up in suite of a hotel and that is where his story will start off from. This give Parris the ability to form barriers of various sizes and it mostly activated by his feelings. The power as can be use if he concentrates. After a particularly violent argument involving Nienna's refusal to go to private school and wear her uniform the right way, Nienna stormed out of the house. Later that evening, she was kidnapped by a gang of men in black cloaks, who took her to a warehouse and performed a ritual to bring their "god" in the real world. What really happened, however, was that Nienna was sent to the Wasteland. Charm: a silver necklace with an inlaid sapphire that lets her teleport within sight range. she can take others with her when touching them, but it puts strain on her, as does teleporting consecutively without rest. Quote: Gaia name: Willhelm Vis Veneratio Character name: Willhelm Vis Veneratio Age: 36 Appearance: WillhelmSex: Male History: Willhelm was born in Rome in 1809. His life was troubled from the beginning. At five his father was shot dead on their farm. Willhelm's mother fled to the border with him where he lived until he was thirteen. His mother died of a stroke and Willhelm was left alone with no inheritance. He joined the army months later pretending to be sixteen. When he was eighteen he left the army and worked freelance. After spending seventeen years as a mercenary Willhelm has established himself as the best in the business. Recently he was sent on a mission to a small village in the south of Italy. During a gun fight with some local thugs a priest was shot down. Willhelm used his limited first aid knowledge to try and help the priest. The two sat talking for hours and the priest handed Willhelm a bible before closing his eyes and dieing. Knowing he will be punished for his sins when the time is right, he has dedicated the remainder of his life to atoning for his evil deeds. He has spent the past year travelling around the world searching for peace and atonement. He went to sleep by a campfire and awoke in an unusual room. Charm: A silver crucifix on a chain he wears around his neck. It allows him to see seconds into the future if danger approaches and minutes if he concentrates. Story So Far: Wes, Cam, Dantaye, and Thorn are recovering from a stint with the dreamers outside the protected area of the Hotel. Nienna has just arrived, and the four of them are telling her the lay of the land.

Thorn sat drinking what was left of the bottle of rum in front of her while listening to Wes tell the new kid about the wasteland and the dangers it possessed. She let out a yawn and kept listening while starting to doze off. Quickly she supported her head with her arm and listened to the information once again.

Wes chuckled a bit as Thorn dozed off, this being the third time today that he had given this speech, as well as the third time she was hearing it. "Remind me to make up introductory business cards to be put in all the vacant rooms" he said to no one in perticular.

At Wes's remark she woke a little and took another sip of her rum. She started to doze off again while listening to Wes's well practice speech that he himself had given her many years ago when she had just arrived in the wasteland.

Cam laughed, sliding out his knife to start cleaning his nails. "Thats actually not such a bad idea." He commented, brining the knife up quickly to cut a piece of his nail off.

Iris sat in her room, doing absolutely nothing. She was feeling particularly restless today--and hungry besides. She should probably sneak to get some food...but people were out there...she didn't want to start any conversations or anything. No thank you, no more people for her. Now that she was in this paradise-like place, she wasn't going to ruin it by forming those complicated, messy relationships with complicated, messy, confusing people. No, sir.
So she simply sighed and flopped belly-down on her bed.
Her stomach was rumbling awfully though...and she was starting to shake from hunger.

Iris got up, sighing angrily and looking out the window. Okay, this was all right at first, but one more hour and she couldn't take it! What a boring existence, if she was going to be stuck here all the time.
Maybe she'd go walk around and see how she could amuse herself.
Not a great plan, but teh best she could think of.
But first: some food.
Just in case, Iris brushed her hair, and, feeling fancy today, as she had actually made a decision to leave her room for more than sustenance, put it up into a simple ponytail, leaving her bangs to frame her face.
Yep, yep, she didn't look so disastrous now. And with her hairtie securely in her hair, Iris was ready. She stepped out of her room, closed it carefully, and headed to the kitchen, jumping up and down on the floor just because she knew she could and no one would hear it, or see the floor vibrating.
And she couldn't help giggling a little. She was treating it like some big expedition or something.
