It was a harsh winter, that was for sure, it had snowed just about every other day it seemed, though when the sun did shine it was a blessed relief. Shihab raised his head and shook off the snow as they had spent this small storm in the shelter of their loved tree. Looking around their snowy enclosure, the hanging branches had sheltered them from the thick of the storm, but still the snow was deep. Really deep, turning his head, he nosed at the snow that covered his pearly white mate, making sure that it didn't weigh her down when she rose to great the dawn.

Already the sun was rising and the clouds were drifting away to shed their storms elsewhere or just vanished from sight completely. Shihab shifted letting the snow slide from his back away from his mate, there was something in the air. Something that was familiar, something he had felt a long while ago. Before his first children were born. He couldn't quite put his hoof on it, but he would let it slide this time.

"Dawn approaches my love." Shihab said softly, nuzzling his head against Adelle. "And the storms have passed, it looks to be a clear sunny day."

Pulling his head away he forced himself to stand and shake the snow from his coat and wings. They felt sort of weighted down, but it was eased with a flick or two. Folding them to his sides, he awaited for his love to join him.

The winter was not that harsh for the pale colored mare as she had grown up in the lands of the snow where there was almost no greens all year round. So for her this was a tolerable winter. Adelle slept a peaceful sleep next to her love and under the pile of snow that had managed to pile up on top of her. Her dreams were calming type dreams of her children and grandchildren. She could hardly believe that she was a grandmother already. Though there was one dream she had in the night. One with foals she did not know.

At the gentle nuzzle of her love the dove colored mare slowly opened her eyes. "Oh Shihab." She said quietly as she lifted her head. He was standing not far from her now and she smiled at the sight of him with snow all over him. "You look so handsome." Her voice was light and happy as she spoke to him. Slowly she got up on all fours but quickly felt nauseous and dizzy. Adelle laid back down gently as she tried to rid the dizziness from her head. She felt bad that she could not get up and join her love on this fine morning quite yet.

Shihab had been looking away for a moment, his black ears catching what she had said, not matter how soft it had been, a gentle smile coming across his golden muzzle, though his head snapped to the side as he heard the crunching of snow when Adelle didn't come to his side. Looking down at her, his head tilting to one side, wondering what could have been the matter. He hoped that she wasn't sick, sick from all the cold and snow that chilled even him to the bones.

"Everything alright love?" he asked turning and lowering his head to nuzzled against her neck.

Nosing at the snow around her he proceeded to bank it up around them like a wall of sorts to shelter them from anymore wind that should accompany the day a head. Also he pulled some of the branches back to let the sun shine in with all it's glory. It anything, he wanted to make sure that his love was warm enough if she wasn't feeling good.

The mare laid there a few moments allowing the dizziness to go away. She had felt somewhat like this once a time but she dismissed it for the time being. "I'm fine my love. My stomach and my head were overreacting to me standing up so fast." She said with a small nod. Adelle hated having Shihab worry over her like this.

She watched pile up the snow and pull the branches back. It wasn't really a sickness of the cold. It was a sickness of something else but she didn't want to believe it just yet. Children? At her age? She was a grandmother. There was no way she could have little foals again. So she dismissed her not feeling well with something she ate the night before. "I'm fine. Really I am. There's no need to worry about me Shihab." Her voice was even more quiet as she spoke. Oh how she hated having him worry.

After clearing the branches, he looked back toward Adelle as she had told him that she was fine, just that she had tried to get up too fast. He couldn't help, but worry, it was who he was after all, one large worrier when it came to his mate and his family. Turning and stepping back over to her, he smiled lowering his head some.

"You sure?" he asked feeling that there was something else behind it, somewhere. "Alright, I won't argue, you always kick my spotted rear anyways." He chuckled straightening again, his wings shuffling at his sides.

He itched to fly, but wasn't going to just yet. He wanted to make sure that Adelle was alright. His pure golden gaze watched her for a moment before he stepped over toward where his human was camped, he wondered how she faired this blustery winter, fair he hoped. Humans were frail creatures when it came to the cold and always had to dress up in thick furs and stuff. Shaking his head, Shihab turned his attentions back to his mate, feeling the first rays of dawn upon his back.

"Yes my dear. I'm perfectly fine." Adelle said with a smile and a nod with a giggle. He always knew how to make her laugh. She laid there for a moment thinking back to when she had been sick before. The human that they lived near had known even before the mare herself knew that they were having foals. The grey mare liked the human and had given her one of her special bells to show her appreciation for the two-legger. Would the human know when she was having kids again? Shaking her head she rid herself of these thoughts.

"Why don't you go check on your human. I'll be fine here and I promise I won't move an inch." Adelle said with a gentle laugh. She knew that he would fuss over her if she tried moving to much when she wasn't feeling well. "Or if you'd rather you can go on an early morning fly. Though I'm afraid you'll have to do it without me this morning. I don't think it'd be safe for me too."

Shihab shook his head, letting his long mane ripple over his shoulders like a sandy colored waterfall against his black and star splattered hide. Looking back toward his mate he nodded, perhaps doing something else would get the worry off his mind, stepping over toward where his human was staying, he looked back at Adelle.

"I'll go check on the human, and I'll bring back breakfast." Shihab nodded before hopping over the snow wall he had created and plowed his way toward the teepee.

When he got there, everything seemed alright, the snow was banked high around its cloth walls to keep the heat in more, smoke came out the top showing that there was still life within its walls. Walking over toward the front, he pawed at the ground near the raw hide door and nickered until a young girl pushed it open.

The young girl peeked out of her teepee home, behind her a golden and white lion lays contentedly near the fire that burnt in the center of the enclosure. Her blue eye light up at the sight of Shihab's face as she pushed the door open further. She was dressed in a heavy fur as to block the cold from her thin frame.

"Shihab." She greeted stepping out into the cold and gently caressed Shihab;s head as she hugged him. "How've you faired boy?" she asked with a giggle noticing that he was well. "Where's you mate? Is she ok?"

Many questions came to her mind as she looked around for the silver and white mare, but didn't see her. Looking back at Shihab, she only smiled nudging him a little, playfully that only made him nicker again and tease her white bangs with his lips.

"Alright, alright. You're hungry, I get the point." She giggled stepping back inside, to where many weavings could be seen, but nothing clearly made out to him, though Shihab did wonder if she knew...

Adelle smiled as she watched Shihab go off to the human. He adored that human greatly and she was glad it gave him something to do other then worry about her. Resting her head against the snow she couldn't help but think of her two children once more. Andre was a fine stallion now. He had a mate and children and they all seemed happy. Her daughter Del'nal she hadn't heard from in some time. Last she knew was that her daughter was still as random as ever and still single. Perhaps one day the mare that looked more like her father would one day find a mate.

The dove colored mare had fallen back into a gentle sleep not realizing that with each passing day her stomach was getting bigger a round. Perhaps she would notice it later in the day or perhaps she wouldn't notice it all. Only time would tell.

Sevti shuffled around inside the teepee getting things for Shihab before returning to the open door way that let the cool air flow freely into the warm space, thus making the lion hiss and curl up with her tail over her nose. Sevti smiled as she held up the basket of fruits for Shihab, s bright smile on her face.

"You take good care of your Mate now." Sevti said as she knew that Shihab cared much for the mare. "No go and be good."

Shihab gave a grunt of laughter at the human as he took the basket handle between his teeth and nodded gently as to not lose anything out of the basket. He watched her close the door again, hiding what she had been working on, his ears perching forward before he turned and headed back toward Adelle. when he got back to where he had left her, he noted that she had fallen asleep. Stepping carefully, though the crunching of the snow didn't help matters as it always alerted everything of something coming.

Coming up to her side, he set the basket down close and picked out an apple that was calling his name. Rather that his stomach was calling for. After crunching it down, he nuzzled against Adelle gently, a silent message, saying that he was back and that he had brought food. Placing himself back on the ground he waited for her to wake again. Even if he already picked something from the basket he would let her eat more or less first...

Adelle dreamed a dream. She dreamed of her children and her grandchildren once more and they were gathered all around her. All of them were upset and she couldn't figure out why. In the gathering of family she failed to see her love present. Where was he! she called but no one answered until her eldest son came forward and told her that he was...

The mare bolted straight up her eyes wild with fright. "Shihab!" she yelled still thinking she was in her dream. After a few moments she finally realized that she was not in her dream anymore. She was back in the living world. Looking over she noticed her love had already come back with food and she now felt even worse because she knew that he would be even more worried about her now.

Having had his attention towards the skies as their cloudless expanse beckoned him to come and play within the warm currents that blanketed them. But no, he wouldn't leave his mate to play like a foal, though he called it dancing to those that watched whom would call him an over grown foal, but wasn't everyone? Shrugging it off, an ear turned toward the shout that rang through his ears. It was of his name, turning his head back to Adelle, a brow raised gently, wondering why he was shouted for when he was so close.

Shaking his head, to end the ringing within his ears, he blinked looking toward Adelle with some concern for the reason of the out burst. But came to the conclusion that she must have been dreaming something, something that he didn't think he wanted to know about. Reaching over he nuzzled her, with great care in his eyes.

"Bad dreams?" he asked as his ears twitched a little, the echo of her scream still rattling within them. "Oh, the two-legged sent these over." He said nudging the basket a little closer to her.

The mare looked apologetically over at her mate. "I'm sorry Shihab. I didn't mean to yell. The dream just seemed so real and so terrifying." Her voice was apologetic as she spoke. Looking at the basket Adelle smiled. "Your human is much to kind to us. We really should do something in return." She nosed the fruit gently before grabbing an apple in between her teeth with such a gentle bite it barely made any mark in the apple.

She ate the apple slowly and thought about her dreams and shook her head. When the apple was done she looked over at her love and smiled. "You can have the rest. My stomach isn't liking to much the food." her voice was once apologetic. She didn't want to end up wasting the humans food. Getting tired of sitting she slowly got up on her four hooves and managed to stay standing even if she was a bit dizzy. Her belly area felt heavier then usual she thought but she paid no mind to it. "We should go for a walk. A walk would be nice."

He tilted his head gently to the side as he watched her. His dark ears twitching lightly as he seemed to laugh a little, on the inside. It troubled him much to know of such bad dreams that seemed real enough to be real, but he didn't press the matter. If she wanted to talk about it, she would have. Noting that she had only eaten one apple, Shihab just laid there silently, before pulling out a couple other things to eat. There was more then his share in the basket and had a feeling that he couldn't eat it all on his own, he wasn't THAT much of an eater.

Standing himself and leaving the basket behind still someone full of food. It would be there if they wanted more later. The cold air would keep it fresh and would last just about the rest of the day if the weather remained fair. When things were brought up about his human, he had to nod, Sevti was a dear and cared much about them. It always seemed funny that the lone human tried so hard to care for them, that sometimes her own needs were misplaced.

"That we should," Shihab agreed, "But I'm not sure what we can do to help the youngster until the spring comes. Unless you have some ideas." He paused as Adelle also mentioned going for a walk, it was a nice day and all. If the wings were bound to fail and let them drop the ground a walk would be best. "A walk sounds nice. Specially one the nice morning we're having."

Turning his face to the warm sun that was steadily growing bigger within the skies, driving off any and all fogs and mists that had coated the white wonderland. Wings fluffing out at his sides a bit, Shihab stepped away from their tree to bask in the sun's light, while awaiting for Adelle to lead the way to wherever she wished to walk to. Though something still plagued his mind, he had seen something within his human's teepee, but he dismissed it to just being things to keep her busy through out the winter season.

Adelle smiled at Shihab before turning in the direction of the human's teepee. Perhaps a visit with the two-legger would help her calm her suspicions that were on her mind. She didn't want to tell her love her thoughts in case they weren't true but the two-legger had known before they did the last time she started feeling like this. Walking slowly she headed towards the two-legger's housing her bells giving off a soft ring with each step she took giving away the surprise of the visit. Ah wells. It was always nice to visit with the kind human who would provide for them when they needed it.

Shihab turned to follow his mate back the way he had come, picking up the basket of fruit to take back as he did wish for it to go to waist while they were out, or have other creatures eat it on them. Catching up to Adelle he walked at her side, watching her as they went though looked forward when the approached the teepee, smoke still coming from the opening up top, just as he had left it a few moments ago. Stopping outside the door he nudged at it a little as if trying to push it in against its hinges. Though he didn't have to wait long until the human inside came out again.

The door swung open again as Sevti looked out at Shihab, eying him oddly as he returned the basket of food to her. She only smiled and shrugged taking the basket and vanished for a moment while she put it all back into cold storage, basically in the snow that lined the back of her teepee. While she wasn't blocking the door way, one could see into the teepee. Dao was still laying near the fire, her tail twitching back and forth as it seemed she was hunting something in her dreams. Upon the floor was Sevti's bedding on one side, on another What could have been baskets, more then likely held things, but who knew as the only light in the teepee was teh fire and things could barely be made out.

"Alright, so how have you two been huh?" Sevti asked as she stepped out of the teepee, closing the door behind her to keep the heat inside. "Shihab, your mate is looking as pretty as ever. You have been taking wonderful care of her, indeed you have."

Sevti reached a hand out to Adelle, looking to see if she would still allow the human to pet her. It had been over a year since her Shihab had brought the timid silver and white mare home with him. She still had the bell the mare had given to her hung inside the teepee. She had come to love the pair, and those that came to be in their family. Though some times, she wished that Dao would do more then just lay around, but the lion had come to be no more then a pet and she couldn't just toss her out. She loved then all dearly...
