Well me and my mate were talking earlier. We would love to do a Turisas tribute band, but to be honest they are not known enough in my hometown to start gigging else nobody would come emo plus we dont know any violinists...
But anyway, to the point! I thought it would be cool to make our own folk metal band, but instead of being vikings, be woads. To those of you who do not know, Woads were the native British before the saxons invaded who used the awesome woad leaf to dye their skin blue. Well, me and my mate being British, i thought this would fit quite well biggrin I play guitar and he is learning to play the accordion so we will obviously need to find more members.
...so basically we would look like Turisas, but blue lol
This thread was not written out very well lol, but yeah...please give your opinions on: -Instruments -Costumes -The whole idea -Anything else you can think of!
Thanks a lot, I appreciate your time :]

It sounds interesting. I don't really know much about Woads except for the Woad Raiders in Age of Empires 2, but it seems like an idea you could work with.
I don't really know what kind of opinions to give. I imagine you know the look better than I do, and the instuments will just grow out of what you want to sound like.

Tribute bands scare me a bit- though if they have a good sound, it's well then... I guess. Though it is interesting; I'd like to hear it, if it ever gets done. ,)

Celtic guardian91 Yeah, i expect we would have a sort of celtic sound...so a few celtic instruments i guess Get a harpist. Get a harpist. Get a harpist. Clarsach, the folk harp, is truly awesome, and probably really good for publicity since you get a lot of sheep around that just go "OMG HARP.", etc. And, obviously, it's an awesome instrument, and great for the folk sound. Unless you put glissandos in. That would ruin it entirely. xd Oh yeah, and you could play on the metal thing and use some electric harp... Yep, I love harps, and am a harpist, in case you didn't guess. xd

Hail, King Arthur!
I believe Merlin was a Woad. :]
Anyway, make sure to get a flute, and an Ocarina. I know Ocarina's are rather... painfully sharp, but if you can use them well and in sync with other instruments, they sound marvelous.
