In the Jewish Gaians Guild, we're all either Jews, converts-in-progress, or people who respect Jews and Judaism. Right?
I have a suggestion. It's not a demand, not an order, not even a request. Only a suggestion. Take the suggestion or don't take the suggestion, up to you. Here it is: Let's observe Sabbath.
No, not all the way. You don't have to commit to the whole thing, like not using your computer at all, not turning lights on or off, not wringing out a washrag or paper towel, not applying makeup or brushing your hair, going to services, singing Sabbath songs around the dinner table... Not everything. Unless that's what you would normally do, of course, or unless you've been looking for a reason/excuse/description of how to make your Shabbat into more Shabbat.
What I mean is very small, very simple: Maybe, just for one day out of every week, just from Friday night to Saturday night (whenever that begins or ends, in your neck of the woods), we could all refrain from posting in this guild.
Post in other guilds, if it's something you would normally do. Or play computer games, but don't log onto Gaia (or, what the heck, the whole internet). But maybe just for that one day each week, we could be silent in the JGG.
Feel free to take this suggestion. Feel free to ignore it. Up to you. No pressure. smile

I'm up for not posting here.
I'll probably actually be doing a close-to-real sabbath this weekend, since I won't have net.

Bah, now I feel weird for actually doing a full-fledged Shabbat, every week.
But it's a good idea!

Dis Domnu I'm up for not posting here. I'll probably actually be doing a close-to-real sabbath this weekend, since I won't have net. Sounds alright to me!

You're not weird for doing full-fledged Shabbat, Slam. Some of the rest of us do, too -- I'm one. I just meant to make it a no-pressure situation for those who don't do a full Shabbat.
Shavua tov, everyone (a good new week)!

I'll be thinking of all of you and imagine you all sitting down with me and my SO around our Shabbat table.
