EA president Frank Gibeau recently revealed a new take on the Need For Speed series. Gibeau thinks the low sales of ProStreet are the results of drifting way too far away from what the consumers wants. Instead of open world cop chases, ProStreet was legal closed track tuner racing. Gibeau promises the next Need For Speed will return to series roots and a new mode called 'Highway battle' mode.

My view on that...
If they want to go back to the roots, at least leave the damage engine intact. At least every "street racer" would now be careful how they drive in the streets...
Can't wait for Sergeant Cross to come back, it's getting too lonely being Ryan Cooper too many times...

Wow. I totally missed this Announcement.
I am excited about their change in direction. As much as i love legal sports, i just got bored of that scene. Games like Grid, Gotham, Forza, and gt5 will be all over those track games.
This game may not be revolutionary, but I sure am waiting for a next gen illegal racer. Carbon and Most Wanted don't count as 'next-gen' because they ported those.

Alittle more dreaming...
Would be safe to say Dawn-Day-Dust-Night will come in effect? I really want to see that. The highway battle sounds very exciting. Weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds will be awesome. ninja ninja

Ya, like Wagon Midnight... but with a Autobaun/USA highway appearance.
My question is; how are they going to make highway battles fun if there's only going to be one city with highways running through it? I would hope that we can travel to new cities... as in have a large county and have like eight individual cities in that county. These cities All have a special theme or appearence; and they are all scattered along this highway network. The only downside is the amount of space required to make all those cities. Unless a few cities aren't explorable (just driven through) by highway.
